Callabinho Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 I have heard that Potronas maybe involved, and requested their name on the stadium? could be BS though....
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 Just spoke to my contact. The takeover will be 49% Thai and 49% Indonesian. Says we've just signed a Dutch player. He says if we get off to a bad start we can expect lots of new blood coming in We just did...!
Jordan Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 That Dutch player must be Lamey, right? That Dutch player must be Lamey, right?
MPH Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 We just did...! A 3-2 defeat AWAY for the 1st game of the season is not really a bad start. The way football works , you lose more away games anyway.. now if we havnt won after 5 games THAT is a bad start.
Babylon Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 I have heard that Potronas maybe involved, and requested their name on the stadium? could be BS though.... Yeah it was posted on 606 and slowly crept around all of the boards and been repeated all over the place, so you have just had it repeated to you. Unless of course you have a real proven contact who has told you.
Isopen Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 I thought that had been renewed. It was a 10 year agreement, so would not have been due for renewal ? When the deal was done, there was a senior guy at Walkers who subsequently became an LCFC Director of the club when the local consortium took over, he doesn't work for them now, so can't see them renewing, so the stadium is going to get re-named anyway, so if one of the parties in the Far East consortium wants to pay for a long term deal now, then that's a good thing, let's just hope the name isn't too embarrasing

h1210 Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 Renewed until 2017 LINK The news comes on the same day that Walkers announce a new ten-year deal with the Foxes, which will see the Leicester-based company invest a seven-figure sum into its hometown club and retain the stadium naming rights to the Walkers Stadium until 2017.
dave the caveman Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 Can't see any reason at all why a company like Petronas would be even the slightest bit interested in investing in a medium sized English football club, but i suppose stranger things have happened. Similarly, i would have thought the likes of AirAsia, Chang, Singha etc would be possibly interested in sponsership, but again it doesn't make much sense for these companies to invest in Leicester. Since King Power already have the shirts, I think that rules out any household names and the remaining investors will probably be people whose businesses we have never heard of.
Lillehamring Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 surely it's possible, if the new owners are going to by out the stadium deal, it might have some impact on the existing naming rights contract. i hope they decide to do it up when they get it, make it a bit less plastic, paint it royal blue instead of the 15 different wrong shades of blue. stick a couple of petronas towers on it.... (hmmm, photoshop calls...)

(hmmm, photoshop calls...) I'd be amazed if any of their investment went on the Stadium, there's no profit in it as there hasn't been for Mandaric as it stands it's just another business overhead, a debt that can be continually passed on to the next buyer. They'll want to put any investment directly into that which will get us to the PL their only way of making a profit.
m00nie Posted 9 August 2010 Posted 9 August 2010 It was a 10 year agreement, so would not have been due for renewal ? dont think agreement mean anything anymore.. wasnt the joma agreement 2/3 years??
