Samilktray Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 And retired from football management I think they said.
JimmyK Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 My first thought was going to Villa, thinking about it I'm not so sure though. Strange time to retire from football if he is.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Maybe something has happened in his personal life. There is more to life than work.
MauriceJobson Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Didn't he have a bit of a "turn" when he joined Man City and resign after a few days?
Jon the Hat Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Didn't he have a bit of a "turn" when he joined Man City and resign after a few days? Yep.. Clearly a man who has to feel right about a job. Fair play to him, if he felt he couldn't bring his A game then he was right to go.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Someone also pointed out the locations. If you look at his major successes in football, they've all been with London/South East teams, his two tenures away in Man City and Bristol City haven't been good. A man who isn't comofrtable out of London. Strange time to ditch them though. Surely if he knew he wasn't feeling passionate about the team he could have told them in the summer.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Cue Daid James 1st stint in the merry go round that is football management...

I think that's more coincidence than anything. He's from the North West and played all his football for Man Utd and Tranmere, so why he'd only feel comfortable now in the South East doesn't make much sense.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Yep.. Clearly a man who has to feel right about a job. Fair play to him, if he felt he couldn't bring his A game then he was right to go. Yes fair play for not staying when he's not totally committed, but it's a ridiculous time to pack it in. Why has it taken 112 days for him to realise it? Surely if he knew his heart wasn't in it then he could have left in pre-season and gave the new set-up at least a bit of time before the season gets under way. Maybe I'm being harsh on the bloke but I'd be pissed off if I was a Bristol City fan, and I'd be pissed off for instance if Paulo Sousa turned around now and said "I'm leaving because I don't feel committed enough". This is a real kick in the balls for Bristol City, a selfish decision if you ask me. If it does turn out to be personal reasons like a family illness then I take back all of what I said and apologise, but I reckon it would have been touched upon in the statement if it was the true reason.
Head Honcho Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 Maybe something has happened in his personal life. There is more to life than work. He just hasn't got it in him anymore. When the desire's gone it's gone and although this reminds me of the time he quit Man City after a month I feel this time it is the right decision.
Head Honcho Posted 12 August 2010 Posted 12 August 2010 So much for them going up! I backed them as well
