Leicester_Loyal Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 You might be waiting a long time at this rate. Ino, I want to see a sell out Walkers
Karljohn Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 I remember paying £3 to go in sk4/sk3 in the 80s/90s so some of the figures and stats in this thread are amazing to read! I feel "lucky" to have a season ticket and that's what the club want, the money up front, I am fortunate that I have the £57 quid or so spare but it leaves me hardly anything else in terms of cash for the month, I park for free, don't buy a programme or draw ticket, probably spend 40 quid max per season in the club shop. Discounts would be great offering a fiver here or there but then you would start to question the worth of your season ticket if you had one against matchday discounts. I read somewhere that it costs something like £2.30 inc VAT per person to "cover" you in the stadium, which is presumably your contribution towards the clubs liability insurance premium if something drops off the roof or you get twatted by a ball and your job is the face of some ad campaign! a small contribution towards police/stewarding and general costs related to H&S....everything else is towards players wages and profit. As for awaydays there is nothing I can do for less than a ton, pretty much everywhere is 100 miles away at least (ex cov, forest, derby) so add your £30-40 petrol/parking to the £45 lad and dad tickets plus food and a drink and try and justify it to the wife! These gold/platinum games are ridiculous, charging extra for what the club consider to be bigger games, last year they took Boro (end of season kickabout), Sheff Utd (boxing day on sky) and Derby (0-0) to platinum, yet QPR, Watford and Scunny saw 13 home goals in 3 matches. Noticed also that this trick of adding £2 per ticket on the day is now being implemented. Can the club possibly do anything more to deter fans at the moment?
h1210 Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 Out of interest I've just been thinking, seeing as you can now exchange your seat if you don't go. Would there be anything to stop a couple of people who go to a few games splitting a season ticket? Just go to half the games and get two tickets for each match. i.e. If they go to roughly half the home games left, that's 11 matches each so £205 in the Kop so £18-19 a match
Houdini Logic Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 I'm sorry for being so thick and not understanding business, maybe if the club raised matchday tickets to £60 and only sold 4,000 they would make even more money. Then again maybe you and the club are missing the point, short term profits at the expense of hard pressed loyal fans may not be in the clubs long term interest. This whole statement shows that your either didn't read or understand what I said.

Get rid of our good players and manager and buy shit, cheap ones?
Neil_LCFC Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 Get rid of our good players and manager and buy shit, cheap ones? It isn't as straight forward as that blackpool went up with so called shit & cheap. I would have gone Saturday of it was 25 quid and so would many more. If a season ticket averages 18 pounds a game then 25 on the gate is plenty mark up to make a season ticket still good value. It is like they want it to be a private club with no room for the casual fan. If we were sold out every week I might understand a little more. No game in this division should be 30 quid and there should be no platinum fixtures as All the teams are average at best.
evs_the_fox Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 I feel like a right posh **** reading this thread... I've been able to afford a season ticket for many years now... With quite a few away games inbetween... Not that i'm bragging or anything... I genuinley feel for those who cannot afford to see their favourite team... Its an injustice in this world of greed and money - Lets hope the Thai's decide to lower the prices for those fans who want to go and increase atmosphere and get our club back where it belongs. Slight difference buddy; you're paying £155 for your S/T (£6.75 a game). Anyone over the age of 22 is paying a minimum £360, although more likely £410 plus the extra cost any kids in-tow will incur.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 Compared to other forms of entertainment, including cinema, kids playzones, bowling, lap dancing\tittie bars, which I would say guarentee you more entertainment, footy is expensive. I took the kids to the pictures, including popcorn and sweeties, for 2.5 hours entertainment it cost me £28. It would cost me double to watch city and we may play shit and lose!!!!!
Leicester_Loyal Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 Dr The Singh, buy them a games console, £200, get them online and they'll enjoy it for years. Best entertainment for value you can get is a games console in my opinion. Not taking this thread off topic or anything though

Not taking this thread off topic or anything though LL, I try to avoid my kids playing consoles as much as possible, I prefer my kids to to be active and play sports or games outdoors. A football only cost £2, and the kids have hours of fun! But the boy is a massive city fan, and me and him have a season ticket, but if discounts and prices were to increase for Season Tickets, I would have to reconsider!! It's a fact of life, if the price of an item isn't worh it's value to you, don't buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Leicester_Loyal Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 In that case, give them two baked beans cans, a drill and a string. See what magic can happen.

And you don't get popcorn at the Walkers.
davieG Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 And you don't get popcorn at the Walkers. Just corny pop!
Dr The Singh Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 Just corny pop! Don't unsalt or sweeten me with those comments!! Don't unsalt or sweeten me with those comments!! ANd don't butterkiss my arse either!!
unreachable Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 A half season ticket is good value - you pay for the most interesting part of the season - the price should be affordable by those who cannot quite afford a full season ticket. A trite comment I know.
Spiritwalker Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 This whole statement shows that your either didn't read or understand what I said. I was trying to" multi quote" you with Fleckneymike's point that the club would rather have 7000 non S.T's in at £30 than risk cutting prices (it didn't work). Your point is valid other than the fact that match tickets could still be sold for £25 without impacting S.T sales. If you are going to most games then a S.T will always give you the best value.
Webbo Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 I can remember when you could get 4 blackjacks or fruit salads for a penny.
davieG Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 I remember when a bag of crisps was 25p standard. I remember when they were 4d and I could get into the footy 1/6d (7.5p) and no it wasn't before the war it in the 1960s which I guess probably seems as long ago for some on here.

That's fair enough. On your original point I do believe that the club need to keep an eye on the long term retention of fans, but being that their matchday prices aren't out of line with other championship clubs I just can't see this being changed
Houdini Logic Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 I remember when a bag of crisps was 25p standard. I remember when Walkers stayed at 17p for about a decade. These were also the days when Walkers bags had a window

It's like a timeline in here I remember when Walkers stayed at 17p for about a decade. These were also the days when Walkers bags had a window I swear you used to get more in a bag as well. They definitely don't taste as nice as they used to since they've gone all health conscious. I mean sunflower oil? Scandalous.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 EVERYTHING about football and finance will never change now. Its gone too far. RIP the working class mans game.
