Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 Commonwealth games. Get rid of it! Hardly anyone is bothered except for the beeb who have sent the normal large quota of terrible second class commentators over there flying first class. Having Claire Balding presenting it about sums it up for me- Awful and ugly.
FoxyPV Posted 5 October 2010 Author Posted 5 October 2010 The crowds are a joke. They have to give 60% of the tickets away for free.
Webbo Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 Who'd of thought Ian Thorpe spoke like that? As for the anthem I'd have preferred God Save the Queen but Jerusalem is a good alternative.
Wycombe Fox Posted 6 October 2010 Posted 6 October 2010 If you haven't seen it, check out the men's 5000m final. Incredible last lap! Now that's what you call eyeballs out! Chris Tomlinson post-race interview " That's the first time I've woken up next to an erect trunk"

StanSP Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 i think he may be a bit deaf , his friends are calling him the "batty man" I couldn't understand his explanation. He doesn't explain why he was called batman (name came before the mask for him). One of life's many unanswered questions (for now)
purpleronnie Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 Can't see any of this, are the aussies still pissing all over it?
Zingari Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 Can't see any of this, are the aussies still pissing all over it? yes but it's fookin fixed there's no proper sports such as darts or skittles

Webbo Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 An inspirational story if ever there was one. 'Golden' Brown makes history: British archer becomes first Paralympian to win medal in able-bodied eventEngland's Danielle Brown in action during the Women's Team Compound Archery final during Day Four of the 2010 Commonwealth Games Danielle Brown put down her crutches and waved away an official's offer of a wheelchair ramp as she stepped on top of the podium unaided to celebrate making sporting history in Delhi today. The 22-year-old, who suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy which causes chronic pain in her feet, became the first Paralympian to claim Commonwealth gold by winning the team compound archery competition .Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1318610/Golden-Brown-makes-history-British-archer-Paralympian-win-medal-able-bodied-event.html#ixzz11hY6iSyz
StanSP Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 yes but it's fookin fixed there's no proper sports such as darts or skittles Or tiddlywinks. Ball-in-a-cup would be brilliant for this kind of Games event. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVAXi0Y18H0&feature=related.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 BBC have money to burn, watched at lunchtime and they had six pundits on the studio sofas Balding, Innverdale, Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson, Michael Johnson (legend) and some swimmer (forgot his name) stop wasting money on this tin pot games. BBC gravy train, Partridge got it oh so right.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 I think it's admirable that the Commonwealth Games have disability competition alongside the able-bodied competition. I've been getting mixed up between the two quite often during these games.

I enjoyed watching the whingeing Aussie sprinter in tears cos she had her gold medal stripped, and they call us a nation of whingers.
StanSP Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 I enjoyed watching the whingeing Aussie sprinter in tears cos she had her gold medal stripped, and they call us a nation of whingers. She was rightly stripped of it too. Don't know what she was moaning about.
Fox You Forest Posted 9 October 2010 Posted 9 October 2010 Is that really walking? looks a bit suspect, I've never seen anyone walk like that.
Zingari Posted 10 October 2010 Posted 10 October 2010 what kind of Dikshit have they got running this show ?
FoxyPV Posted 12 October 2010 Author Posted 12 October 2010 The atmosphere at the India/ England hockey match is amazing!
Super_horns Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 The atmosphere at the India/ England hockey match is amazing! One of the few events to have a decent crowd watching...I know hockey is actually quite popular in India compared to most of the Commonwealth sports. Agree about the Aussie lady moaning...she won a gold later anyway in the hurdles.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 October 2010 Posted 12 October 2010 The atmosphere at the India/ England hockey match is amazing! The India/Pakistan match in the previous round was even more frenetic and noisy, fantastic support for the hosts. Feel really sorry for the English team, heartbreaking to lose on penalties, although on reflection I think India just about deserved to go through.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 14 October 2010 Posted 14 October 2010 Why do they insist on having the entire medals table decided by golds alone? It doesn't seem to make much sense really... it's like saying coming second and getting a silver is worth nothing. I wouldn't normally care but I've heard too many Indians go mental about the fact that they finished above England in the medals table... even though we got WAY more silvers and ten more bronzes! Surely a points based system would be fairer as I don't really think India were the second best team overall at these games, despite what this medals table may say.
FoxyPV Posted 14 October 2010 Author Posted 14 October 2010 Watched the netball final today - fook me what a match!

Well medals tables have always been done on Golds, so just for someone to want England to be higher up in the table doesn't mean it should be the case. Maybe England should have got more golds, then you wouldn't be moaning
