bald reynard Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 If anyone wants to find out what a decent, honest and genuine bloke Sven could be, I would recommend they see his interview with East Midlands Today, when he left County. I'm not a good enough 'techie' to provide the link here (I'm sure someone else will be though ?!) - but it's available via BBC i-player (on today's page, that links to John Inverdale's BBC 5 Live interview with Sven this afternoon). He talks about his disappointment with leaving the County job - and the business problems that led to it. Really worth listening to and (certainly in my opinion) gives me such a better impression of him - and a belief that he will be committed to City.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I believe he will do his utmost for City, but I just feel he wont be up to it. MON would have been great, but I think Chris Powell should have been given the chance, next. However, I will support the manager as always.

Confused Are you saying Powell is better equipped for the job than Sven??
City Lad Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 More and more, contrary to many people's tainted beliefs, Sven is coming across as a really good bloke. I'm excited about his reign whereas when I heard he was linked I was sceptical.

WTF has this got to do with anything - thread is about Notts County & Sven. Chris Powell as manager vs Sven roflmao
CupidStunt Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Well lets hope his track record with woman matches that of matches that of games he manages for us,and we'll be laughing, unless of course he has a donger the size of a blind cobblers thumb which explains he con-quests, in which case we fecked. I heard/read he walked away from Notts without any pay-off,so the takeover would go through. Quite looking forward to having him here, .....how long that lasts, only time will tell
bald reynard Posted 3 October 2010 Author Posted 3 October 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/notts_county/8663315.stm Thanks Unreachable ! I'd be interested to hear other peoples thoughts of Sven's interview. Is it just me, or do others think he sounds a genuine guy - and was saddened about what happened at County ?

I enjoyed listening to the thoughtful interview but am really concerned about what goes on in the future here at Leicester. He definitely talks the talk......
katieakita Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 All. I work in Long Eaton and meet a few Notts Co fans and they rate the guy as a football man and as a bloke. The dodgy owners at county told him to get them promotion and that the money was there for him to spend bringing in new players so whats he getting blamed for :rolleyes:Notts Co got promoted and he left writing off a couple of million Quid so to me that makes him a decent sort of bloke and what he does in his private life is his business. Things didn't work out for him in Mexico but they did qualify for the world cup Clough is in anyones books one of the greatest managers of all time but thats not based on his time at Leeds is it good luck to the bloke. Paul

Paul Fully agree with you Paul. I have spoken to a lot of County fans and they have a lot of time for Sven. They thought, given time, he would have done a good job for them, but he still set the basis for their promotion last year. The interview on East Midlands Today when he left them, showed he was really disappointed that he couldn't finish the task. I'm confident he'll finish his job at City and get us to the Prem.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Sven is blatently a good guy. How else could he have talked his way into so many brilliant jobs in football, let alone the beds of so many reasonably presentable women. I think he will feel he has a point to prove given the disappointing performace of the Ivory Coast at the world cup and the Notts County debacle. Don't think he would have come if he didn't believe he could do well. He'l' have a plan no worries.

I'm more than happy to see SGE here and he has my backing 100%
ajthefox Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I was happy when his name was mentioned and after seeing the sky interview and this, I am even more upbeat about this. I would find it very hard to believe what he is saying is not sincere. And thinking about the whole man city fiasco too, there surely is a reason why no-one wanted him to leave. I genuinely can't wait for this break to be over, bring on Pearson's Tigers!!
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 I want us to play good football. Yes. This is what I want. He's a really likeable guy. I hope he does well.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 3 October 2010 Posted 3 October 2010 Thanks Unreachable ! I'd be interested to hear other peoples thoughts of Sven's interview. Is it just me, or do others think he sounds a genuine guy - and was saddened about what happened at County ? Quite encouraged by it. In fact a few things like this have made me re-evaluate my initial views on this. I still think it was poor form to sack Sousa in the circumstances we did, but it is what it is - i'm feeling pretty optimistic now. Just hope we don't suffer from a heightened sense of expectation again. I'm sure Sven can do a job- let's get behind him and give him a proper chance eh?

Don't think he would have come if he didn't believe he could do well. He'l' have a plan no worries. Most of the people who know him think very highly of him, a gentleman and a professional. Despite largely being hired as a figuerhead, he turned up regularly and worked hard for County and, even after it became clear he had been shafted by the 'owners', he still behaved impeccably. So he likes chasing women, for me that is a perfectly respectable occupation for a single man, even his ex's speak well of him. It is only the 'faux' outrage of the tabloid press that has turned some against him. I think he could be great value for City, his experience, his contacts, his ability to bring together a somewhat devided squad, all great plusses as far as I can tell. Will a few local 'ladies' get a bit of attention, I hope so, it will probably do them the world of good!
rabbid Posted 4 October 2010 Posted 4 October 2010 MON Do you like the taste of wiwndows or is it just a habit?
bettso Posted 5 October 2010 Posted 5 October 2010 I work in Nottingham (unfortunately) and the majority of the office are County fans and not one of them have a bad word to say about him. He worked for free for 4 months and not once complained about anything and didnt once pursue them for any money once the Munto Finance thing collapsed. He offered support to the management staff, players and the incoming chairmen who described him as a 'true gent'. I know a bunch of Man City fans also and they are all very jealous that we have Sven and they have Mancini. According to them, if he'd have had 2 more years, they would have been challenging and winning the title such was the progress. There doesn't seem to be one shred of evidence to support him being a mercinary, PR exercise etc so not sure where people are gathering these opinions from. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though but mine is that this is a superb appointment and will see us rocketing up the league in no time at all. SGE'S BLUE WHITE ARMY!!!!!!!!!!!
