Geordie Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 He was never my favourite, but you have to give the man credit, he's taken reletively small jobs in order to try and make a career out of football management, when he probably doesn't need to work. Even after the knock he took at Blackburn he dropped down the leagues again. It's a shame more don't follow his lead instead of thinking they are automatically due a crack in the top divisions.
Corky Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 I think the Blackburn experience is more likely going to convince him to stay at a club for a good period of time to try and build something.

I think thats pretty spot on. Ince is someone I admire for having the sense to gain knowledge from the bottom of the divisions to the top, I think he'll make a decent manager in future.
Edmund Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Didn't realise Short had got the sack. I still rate Ince as a good up and coming manager. Maybe Blackburn was one step to far at the time and left him out of his depth. Good appointment for Notts.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 I hope he makes it. Ince has gone about management the right way by starting at Macclesfield, then Franchise. Blackburn was a job too far, too soon and Franchise seem to have gone backwards quite quickly. A decent League One job with a club I personally fancy to do good things could be just the ticket for him. Best of luck to the bloke I say.

Sitting 1 place out side the play offs and being level on points with 6th place?
Father Ted Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 Sitting 1 place out side the play offs and being level on points with 6th place? Exactly my thoughts... Anyway, I think he'll fail and personally hope he does. As a player he was vile and as a manager has seemed clueless. His record at Macclesfield and MK Dons second time round were hardly anything special and he was a disaster at Blackburn. Sorry Incey but the sooner you get out of the game the better.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 MK Dons finished 11th in League One last season, compared to 3rd in our season there.
Bugg Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 MK Dons finished 11th in League One last season, compared to 3rd in our season there. Yeah, but it was Di Matteo who was manager when they finished there. Not Ince.
Webbo Posted 28 October 2010 Posted 28 October 2010 I hope he does okay. Last chance this for Ince I'd have thought. If he doesn't achieve anything here I can't see him getting another job.
Mack Posted 29 October 2010 Posted 29 October 2010 Raw Mince in managing in the lower leagues by choice? I dont think so! Craig Short was doing OK in their first season back in league one yet he still got the boot. I doubt the guvnor will do any better!

He joined Macclesfield with the club bottom of League Two, seven points off their nearest rivals. He then revived confidence and after a 3–0 win against Chester they managed to climb off the bottom of the table. They subsequently avoided relegation.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 3 November 2010 Posted 3 November 2010 MK Dons finished 11th in League One last season, compared to 3rd in our season there. We were promoted under Ince when he had Ray Mathias as his assistant. Di Matteo got us 3rd, missing out on promotion by a point or two. Ince came back, we were shocking. We started well because of a player we loaned in again (Puncheon). We started off narrowly winning and giving the appearance we were fine, probably due to morale from the season before and our achievements under him. We slipped down the table and managed to get rid of him. Discipline went to pot, we simply lumped the ball up, our top scorer was put on the wing. Creditable options were sent out on loan. We didn't have Ray Mathias as assistant. I wonder who did so well with Ince first time round? Mathias was Ince's assistant at Macclesfield, too.
