Houdini Logic Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Whats so exciting about flags anyway, they'd just obstruct your view of the game and generally look ugly. Same could be said about most of our worthless lard ass fans to be honest
MC Prussian Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 So does that mean we shouldn't try? We should accept having a shit atmosphere? To be fair, I can see where Tilley is coming from - Arsenal are also known to have a heavy hand when it comes to flags at the Emirates and most fans have enough money to give in to the club at the gates.
The Padster Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Why should people who want to sit down be forced to one area of the stadium? They could be advised that the Kop/East Stand are where flags, banners etc are to be waved around and people may be standing up. They can then make their own decision on whether they want to sit there or not, and shown the way to a "quieter" section of the stadium if so. No "force" needed.
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Well it doesn't for those that have occupied certain seats since the stadium was opened. Wouldn't work and will never happen. It doesn't work for the awkward pricks who are trying to ruin everyone's good time. Explain to me why Liverpool's Kop is so diffferent to ours.
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Arsenal reference, long time coming Alex. +1 There are a few great flags at the Emirates if you must know, the 'There's only one Aaron Ramsey' being a particular favourite of mine.
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 To be fair, I can see where Tilley is coming from - Arsenal are also known to have a heavy hand when it comes to flags at the Emirates. Yah and look at what a shit atmosphere they have.
1964FOX Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Common sense must come with being in my age bracket. Remind me of when The Walkers has even so much as resembled the Kop at Anfield and I won't post on here ever again. There have been a few games when the Anfield Kop have been quiet with no flags or banners so it has been like the walkers. Hope you are a man of your word and never post on here again.
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 It doesn't work for the awkward pricks who are trying to ruin everyone's good time. Explain to me why Liverpool's Kop is so diffferent to ours. They Liverpool fans are more vocal than Leicester City fans and they are alot more passionate about their football up there.
Houdini Logic Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Would it not make more sense to ban lighters, matches, flints etc.... Yeah I think the people they allow to smoke in the toilets at half time might pose more of a fire risk than a kid with a flag
MC Prussian Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Yah and look at what a shit atmosphere they have. EDIT: Same could be said about the Chelsea fans. Leicester fans made more noise in the away end in THAT 4-3 cup defeat three years ago than the whole rest at Stamford Bridge.
Kitchandro Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 They Liverpool fans are more vocal than Leicester City fans and they are alot more passionate about their football up there. Exactly the kind of willy puller comment the media feeds us. fook do they care more about football than us. They are more successful and their club gives a shit about them.
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 I can sit at The Emirates on my comfy seats and enjoy the football without any idiots obstructing my view or giving me a headache with stupid songs. What more could I ask for? Exactly the kind of willy puller comment the media feeds us. fook do they care more about football than us. They are more successful and their club gives a shit about them. They give a shit about them? Are we forgetting the Hicks and Gillett things? Liverpool fans care more about their club, you mean.

You're a fooking disgrace to this club. Hicks and Gillett didn't ban any flags did they?
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 fook off. Your a fooking disgrace to this club. Safe to say we disagree then?
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 I am paying £35 for my ticket for the game on Saturday and if anyone sings a song in my ear or waves a flag in my face I will be consulting the nearest steward and asking that person to sit quietly and watch the match or be removed.
MC Prussian Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 I can sit at The Emirates on my comfy seats and enjoy the football without any idiots obstructing my view or giving me a headache with stupid songs. What more could I ask for? Mmh... Higher ticket prices for posh seats and a shit atmosphere?

Asha Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 I've always been on the side of all-out singing and standing. But since my eagerness to do so on match days whatever the situation has began to dwindle, in some ways I'm beginning to side with those who feel the opposite. Not a fan of his by any stretch but Tilley's made some good points in this thread for the case of 'sitting down and watching the game' and for someone to say he is a 'disgrace to the club' for believing so is completely bemusing. I've come to the personal conclusion on the matter that those who want to sing and dance and have a good time etc are perfectly okay to do so, in their own way and providing it isn't obstructing anyone else, whilst understanding that football in this country is how it is. Especially at the top levels, it's only going to become more commercialised and in the main I only see two choices for myself: Accept it and live with it, or spend my life watching football miserably wishing it was different. I know which I'd prefer, to be honest.

We don't need the £35 right now, keep it
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 Mmh... Higher ticket prices for posh seats and a shit atmosphere? £35 for Derby or £39 for Fulham, how will I cope without that £4? Walkers is on par with the Emirates. Obviously not a man of his word then. No one has showed me evidence of when our Kop has replicated that of Liverpool's so I will carry on posting.
davieG Posted 8 November 2010 Author Posted 8 November 2010 It doesn't work for the awkward pricks who are trying to ruin everyone's good time. Explain to me why Liverpool's Kop is so diffferent to ours. Probably because it's evolved over 100 years where as ours is new and occupied by the the old Double Decker upper deck all used to sitting and a fair number of lower deck (kop) fans many of whom actually sat and didn't sing or stand unless something eventful occurred. In truth since seating was put in the kop in 1994 only SK1 & SK2 had any real standing. Where as Liverpools kop has always been 'full' of standing fans even after they put the seats in.
Tilley Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 We don't need the £35 right now, keep it Cheers Top but I've already bought it and I am going to sit for 90 minutes and enjoy the football.

Speak for himself, it's people like him that make everyone else think that. fook him
Asha Posted 8 November 2010 Posted 8 November 2010 The Walkers will never be atmospheric. Mainly because the majority of fans who turn up clearly don't want it to be.
