haraven Posted 9 November 2010 Posted 9 November 2010 i really can't understand why this has reached 10 pages. Flags are a fire hazard, despite the fact it's a non-smoking stadium people still smoke in their seats and so there is the possibility of the flags catching fire. Given the way modern society has gone to the point where it's all about money if the flags catch fire and someone gets injured the club are at risk of being sued. They're just trying to cover their arses in case that does happen. ... but burning flags is so 70s ... let's just wave em?
Prospero Posted 9 November 2010 Posted 9 November 2010 I didnt think fire had been invented up north yet. This is very funny, at least I thought so.

Fosse Boys=waving flags=fire certificate required. Coincidence?
acooling08 Posted 9 November 2010 Posted 9 November 2010 davieG if you have a burning issue then your doctor should be able to prescribe some antibiotics to clear it up no problem.
Donut Posted 9 November 2010 Posted 9 November 2010 Im just waiting for whatever the next "Fosse Boys v Stewards v Barclay v Other fans not related to the fosse boys" civil war will be
Dan Posted 9 November 2010 Posted 9 November 2010 What a load of old fvcking shite, this club never fail to amaze me.
Vestan Pance Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 I think this is a real concern. Being a football fan these days is just far too dangerous to take the risk on attending games. I would suggest you send an annual donation to LCFC of around £350 and stay at home, this not only slashes the odds on you being involved in a bizarre flag combustion incident, but also saves LCFC the cost of employing people to mother selfish supporters. I bet these flag idiots are the same people I've seen mixing up the recycling bin and the general waste bins on the concourse. We can do without you, if you insist on waving a flag/banner then do it in the privacy of your own home, where you can pay the bill for the inevitable fire damage.

The bit where you solemnly state that "flags are a fire hazard" is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard - I would say the chances of a fire-related incident occurring specifically involving a flag in a modern football stadium are about, ooh well... 0%?
Ozwin Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Surely the Thai owners want to see the fans enjoying themself so they keep coming back/inviting their friends etc. I don't understand why they're so against stuff like this.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Ruddy hell, thread's a bit heated isn't it? To boost the atmosphere at games, I'm forming my own one man Ultra group (other members may be accepted pending approval) to rival the Fosse Boys. We'd basically be shouting at each other, but it'd give me a laugh and would make the place louder. Uniform would be compulsory, scarves bearing the name of at least ONE former Soviet state must be taken to every match. Then we'd basically make a load of Turk noises that sound imposing but basically mean nothing. 'OOOO OOO ACK ACK!' Anyone in the group must also be at that stage that isn't quite wasted, but not sober (the four pint stage). This way entry into the ground is a given but it'd make for a rowdier atmosphere. Post-games we'd tour Leicester's strip clubs. If people don't appreciate the standing, they must be 'erased.' The group would be called: THE CITY SYNDICATE.
m00nie Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Tilley. doubt it hes standing and not sitting...

I'd agree that it's very unlikely that the flags would ever catch fire but there is still a chance that if someone sat a couple of rows infront of the flag lights up (since not everyone actually listens to the no-smoking rules) then the flag may sweep through the lighter and catch fire.

Arent your clothes made of fabric? Or do you have a fire certificate for them? Or do you go to matches naked?
Finnegan Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Oh ffs give over with the clothes argument, it's retarded. Flags over seats could be a trip hazard, thus a fire risk. Flags being waved or draped could catch a lighter or fag or anything else and go un-noticed. These things are not likely but they're more likely than your t-shirt randomly bursting into flames. If it's news to anyone that the HSE are weird, paranoid and contradictory then you've obviously been on the moon for the last ten years. Blame litigation culture, not 'calcio moderno.'

However it's already been established by the Fire Service that you do not need a fire certificate unless it's stored at the ground over night, this is just LCFC being obstructive and melodramatic.
unreachable Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 A simple Google search shows that fire certficates for flags are very common if not universal so why people think LCFC are taking a unique stand is stupid. Take a look at Middlesbrough's website http://www.mfc.co.uk/page/Banners/0,,1,00.html Why this issue has become so fashionable I have no idea.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 However it's already been established by the Fire Service that you do not need a fire certificate unless it's stored at the ground over night, this is just LCFC being obstructive and melodramatic. Yep, pretty much. As already stated on the thread, bizarre that the Walkers has been open for 8 years with the same individual in charge of health and safety throughout but only now has it occurred to the powers-that-be that flags are in actual fact lethal. Surely H&S regulations are the same throughout the country and Football League yet Crystal Palace freely allow flags to be waved much larger than anything in the Fosse Boys' possession every week without having the lower Holmesdale closed by their SAG. LCFC's new found stance may not be unique but that doesn't make it any less retarded and knee-jerk.
lcfc_jme Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 From a totally non-Fosse Boys related stance, I can't understand why nobody is making more of a deal out of the fact that people are allowed to smoke entirely unchallenged in the stands despite it being a no-smoking stadium. Surely if this were not the case there'd be no risk of flags catching fire anyway?? Just seems logical, to me. Smoking in the stadium is probably more "illegal" than standing yet the standing rules are enforced with near Nazi-like ruthlessness more often than not but smoking is fine. Funny, that.
Finnegan Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Should add I do think banning them is stupid (though you can get rogered if you want to wave one on a pole in front of me trying to watch the game) - I just hate these immature 'BUT MA CLOTHES ARE FLAMBL ' statements.

Yeah, but clothes are flammable. Yours, mine, everyone's. And there's roughly 22'000 people wearing clothes at each home match, yet H&S have never had an issue with this potential fire hazard. A couple of flags and, suddenly, what used to be neglectable becomes of utmost importance. As if the club has just started its own Holy Crusade. Wonder what genius ideas they'll come up with should we ever get back to the Promised Land.
