stockyfox Posted 21 November 2010 Author Posted 21 November 2010 OK! I admit I was totally gutted with the result yesterday and so frustrated that we had dominated so much of the game and actually lost. I never like predicting a score for Leicester but not only do I always want them to win, I always expect them to win regardless of the opposition or venue. But yesterday, for once, I was totally confident of not just winning but winning well. After Barnsley and Derby, Bristol had no chance! So I’m listening to the commentary on Foxes player and there’s rarely even a brief mention of a Bristol player because it’s all Leicester. It’s 38 minutes before Bristol make their first assault on our goal. This is one minute longer than it took Barnsley to mount their first attack but as the excitement of each Leicester attack builds, it finishes with ‘Over’, ‘Just wide’, ‘Hit the post’, ‘it needs a good cross – oh what a waste’, ‘Didn’t work the ‘keeper’, ‘...takes the corner and......cleared’, ‘Penalty! – saved’, ‘Cleared off the line – No! The referee has given a goal’, ‘And he’s kicked it fully forty yards into an empty net’. Am I really listening to this or am I having a terrible nightmare? There is only so much one can take. What is going on? Then Alan Young at half-time, comments ‘It should be four or five nil’ and goes on to express his disgust with the penalty failure. Yet, I cast my mind back to January 1973 – Goodison Park – when Everton were camped not just in Leicester half but for about eighty eight minutes in our penalty area. We had one breakaway in the 73rd minute (as you do) and their player, Wright kindly put the ball into his own net and we came away with a 1-0 victory. To this day, I do not know how! But I was ‘over the moon’ - and still am!!!!!!
Collymore Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 Talking of the corner situation, is anyone else old enough to remember the days of the Filbo when we were just amazing at converting corners? The kop end was just brilliant at times, you could see the opposition physically shrinking at the thought of Walsh, Taggart etc in the box, add the deafening noise from the crowd and it felt like we would score ever time. "We're gonna score in a minute.... score in a minute". Fantastic Days!!! I think our equaliser in the Arsenal 3-3 sums up how good we were at corners with Walsh and Prior playing a one two with their heads! Kisnorbo was probably our best header in recent times. Howard, for being so brave and good in the air, doesn't seem to get on the end of corners . It's probably because teams know he's our only threat and therefore nullify him. I don't think we're practicing them in training either. We seem to just have no plan when it comes to taking them at the moment. 4mins 17 secs for the master class. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EYuCw3nZDA
Guest Posted 21 November 2010 Posted 21 November 2010 RIP Pepper. Quite. What was clearly needed yesterday was a small, rat-looking, yappy dog who was 16 to bite David James' ankles as Howard's penalty came towards him. How different it all could have been *sighs*
Spudulike Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Doesn't matter whether we score from a corner or not, the Sky pundits will tell the watching nation that Leicester City are a set piece team. Peter Beagrie will use the same script that he always uses.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 I've never seen Rick Waller miss a penalty.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Didn't know Dele Adebola was still alive?! Thought he disappeared with Guy Ipuoa and Samuel Koejoe.
5waller5 Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Am I the only one that keeps reading Angelia's post looking for some hidden parable? Nope. I am too.
RedHux Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Didn't know Dele Adebola was still alive?! Thought he disappeared with Guy Ipuoa and Samuel Koejoe. We got him on a free last year and he's been warming our bench ever since. Occasionally he comes on to knock CBs around a bit or to head the ball away when we play Coventry. He's actually doing quite well atm and despite not being a regular has been coming on to great effect or, like Saturday, acting as the big man to Earnie's midget.
deep blue Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 The Arse link also gives you the "Derby 0 LCFC 4" goals. Superb crossing & heading, and Emile on fire - the goal-scorer he could have been. I remember watching that in the pub; rolls back the years! I think our equaliser in the Arsenal 3-3 sums up how good we were at corners with Walsh and Prior playing a one two with their heads! acooling08 Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 Our delivery's aren't that bad usually, just no one gets on the end of them. Inexplicable really.
Corky Posted 23 November 2010 Posted 23 November 2010 We got him on a free last year and he's been warming our bench ever since. Still managed to come off the bench to notch against us though
