Tricky to mark the attacking players because they did well generally but there was also a lot of sloppy play which cost us a comfortable advantage.

Didn't think Gallagher was poor today but i do think he needs to be a bit more clinical when it comes to finishing his chances better and to communicate more with the other players. Then he would maybe perform better in his position

Really pleased with the performance today. Gallagher needs to start getting back to his potential, slacking IMO at the min.

Weale 7 - Lacks communication

Naughton 8 - Gets forward so well constantly

Cunningham 8 - Gets forward well and always gets stuck in. Horrible injury

Hobbs 8 - Back to his best

Morrison 8 - Dominant in the air

Abe 8 - Mops everything up.

Wellens 9 - Ran the midfield yet again. Fantastic range of passing as usual. Man of the Match

King 6 - To inconsistant. Doesn't get stuck in at times

Gallagher 6 - He is technically gifted but he is lazy, he doesn't challenge at times, some of his passing is horrid.

Vassell 8.5 - Chases everything, so strong and good finish for the goal

Dyer 6 - Seems to be switched off at times

Pleased with our performance even though Hull are one of the worst teams I have ever seen. We dominated.

Wellens ran the midfield and therefore gets my man of the match.

Weale - 7.5 - Didn't have much to do, but there was a lot more confidence in the back line today and he dealt with the ball over the top extremely well. As the chant went "Leicester's Number 1".

Naughton - 7.5 - Got some of his attacking confidence back today and always retained the ball well. Looked comfortable today.

Morrison - 8 - Superb display. Hull played into his hands with the long ball, but he dealt with absolutely everything with confidence. A top defence performance from Michael.

Hobbs - 8 - As above, a top defence performance from the centre half pairing. Got the clean sheet they deserved.

Cunningham - 7.5 - Solid display from Greg. Looked more comfortable today then in recent weeks. Terrible injury. Get well soon.

Abe - 6.5 - Very wasteful with the ball, misplaced several passes in many different areas of the park. However, made several important blocks and tackles in crucial areas which help to start the attacking moves.

King - 6 - Typical King of recent weeks, missing for periods of the game, but then makes a key decision in the game. Mark reflects how long he went missing for today.

Wellens - 7.5 - He made everything tick today, was superb in the middle of the park. All of Leicester's chance in the game generally came from something that Richie did.

Gallacher - 6.5 - Can be soooo frustrating at times, but always offered a pass to his fellow team mates. Get's into good areas, just wish he would put his body on the line at times instead of pulling out of all 50/50's

Vassell - 8.5 - Caused the two Hull centre halves soooo many problems, everytime the ball went towards him. Well taken goal, and it was well deserved.

Dyer - 7.5 - His pace also made Hull think. Getting his confidence back with back-to-back starts. Lloyd is improving again, and we will see the start of season Lloyd soon if he continues to start.

Subs

Berner - 7 - Very solid, proved he should be given a run of games to show he can be the left back in Cunningham's absence. No need for a panic buy at left back.

Wagnorn - 7.5 - Caused problems with the Hull centre halves. Was a perfect game for him to come on, and his work-rate often allowed the defence to have a break and re-organise.

Oakley - 6.5 - Didn't really get a chance to get involved, but was keen to get involved and pin Hull back.

Wasn't at the game, but there seems to be a pattern forming that when Wellens plays well the team plays well?

I've loved Wellens for a long, long time now. Before his days at Leicester and Doncaster. I don't care how many people disagree, but he is in my opinion one of the most important players in the team, if not the most important.

He seems to be the only midfielder that communicates and therefore should be captain, his vision, passing and skill has generated lots of chances for us in games, for instance at Hull on Saturday, he set up Vassell's goal by driving forward, standing on the ball and picking a great pass instead of just wasting a shot like many other players do - he has a great footballing brain.

And obviously playing for Manchester United his brain will be to quick for some of the other players at times. He is skillfull and clever, his dummy when he stepped over the ball to let Dyer I think in, was top class.

He doesn't score that many goals but he is not that type of player. However, I think he was pushed forward on Saturday.

Wellens seems to be the most consistant player in midfield. King is too inconsistant.

As much as I'm a fan of Wellens as well I just don't see where the comparison to King comes in.

For a start how many goals has King scored compared to Wellens in the last two seasons. I won't even bother looking up the figures cos there's no comparison whatsoever.

You excuse it but there are various reasons. Firstly Wellens opts out of shooting. He might be a lot of good things as a combative, skillful midfielder, but he passes the buck when it comes to shooting. And with good reason because when he does shoot he's worse than Gallagher for hitting em high and wide. Not because he has no technique but because he grabs at the shot, gets his head up, loses his balance, wonders what will happen. King stays calm and invariably hits the target.

And that calmness is why he's captain. Furthermore we've done okay with him in the role. And a lot better at Hull while he had the armband than at Millwall when Oakley wore it.

King doesn't really play central midfield anymore, he's a supplementary attacker but there was no-one more consistently effective in the traditional midfield role than King and that's glaringly shown in the way we concede so many goals now. King was so valuable defensively for so many reasons and his reading of the play and aerial ability are particularly missed.

This is not a condemnation of Wellens. I like the guy and he's always got his sleeves rolled up even when the rest of the side are looking shit. I could write reims of positive things about him. But even as a passer he's a risk taker and one who get's us in a mess as a reult on occasions. He also gets caught in possession or in two minds - albeit for the best reasons of trying to be constructive.

So the volatile Wellens is no superman and I don't believe his game would benefit from added responsibility at all. There is nothing to stop Wellens cajolling his team-mates and why should it? But King has stacks of captaincy qualities - not least of which are the example of his goals. Cos without em we'd be right down in the relegation places right now and we'd never have got near the play-offs last season. .
