Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Garrido would be more than adequate at this level. I'd love Sven to tie something up there.

Jackirius Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I would love for Sven to tie me up and have his way with me.
tylesta Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 a team don't take a month to build..... martin allen went ott with signings and look what happened i dont think we should be looking at promotion this season (would be nice) but i would like to build a team, get a few decent players in the window then get some extra quality players in the summer. if we went up this season we would have to chuck loads of money on staying up which will be hard and we would lose most of our players we signed for peanuts if relegated. if we build a squad we will be in a far better positin than going up this season.
hackneyfox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 You go up as quickly as you can, too much money to be had in The Premier to turn it down and if we don't go up this season then we fall furtehr behind as 3 more teams on large parachute payments will join us in The Championship.
JD+Fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 We've been linked with a number of keepers. Sven obviously wants someone better than Weale. What does everyone reckon to that Cov Keeper? Westwood? I have the unfortunat situation of working with a number of Cov scum fans... They seem to rate him as one of their best. But they are Cov fans
hackneyfox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 The realistic ones amongst them think he's a good goalie but not the best in The Championship. He's gone come the end of the season, nobody in The Premier seems to be looking that closely at him at the moment but I'd imagine there may be a couple of cheeky late bids for him near the end of the transfer window. Wouldn't want to gibe co* too much for him though. Undoubtedly a better goalie than Weale.
Tommy G Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I thought Camp was outstanding when Forest came here, pains me to say it. The cardiff keep aint half bad either, is it Marshall?

artursteppe Posted 14 January 2011 Author Posted 14 January 2011 like hull 15th burnley 10th and portsmouth 18th What has that got to do with anything? Are saying that if a team gets relegated with a big 'parachute payment' they will be crap? Does that mean teams would be more successful with no 'parachute payment'. Hello!
cc_star Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 like hull 15th burnley 10th and portsmouth 18th But you wouldn't want to add West Ham, Villa & Wolves to this division and be fighting for top 2 next year. This year there are no sides that massively better than the division and anyone can beat anyone on their day - the division is there for the taking, QPR, Swansea & Cardiff had a consistency that other sides lacked in the first half of the season - but are they massively better than the chasing pack like West Ham etc probably would be? I don't think so
The Doctor Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 like hull 15th burnley 10th and portsmouth 18th with the payments they recive 8 million for the first 2 seasons and 16 million for the next 2 which is a lot of money but they don't get it in one go look at hull they couldnt afford to buy any players untill they was taken over recently.. the loss of tv money is more than the parachute payments alone. you could instead look at the season before and see newcastle (1st), west brom (2nd), m'boro (i forget but they were round the edges of the play-offs). Point is pompey and probably hull would have been in financial turmoil even if they'd stayed up and couldn't afford to keep hold of their players (witness hull's chairman whinging at bullard for not going to celtic this summer). That's not going to be the same for every club.
hackneyfox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Let's not go up this season but put together a squad for next is arrogance in the extreme. If we don't go up will the Thais stay, will they pump in amymore money, will Sven stay, would King, Abe and Wellens be off as soon as s omeone made an offer, would Yakubu sign a permanent deal. We could end up mid table with massive debts and be facing admin again.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I got told last night that we had gone in for some Cov-scum keeper called Westwood? but bid was rejected, i took it with a pinch of salt. As for Kirkland it could be brilliant or it could be a disaster i just wish we had Fulop. In my opinion the best keeper we've had since Walker I said in November we went in for Westwood, He is a good keeper but in my opinion the older the keeper the better so Russell Hoult
