artursteppe Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Yakubu reportedly on £35k to £40k per week = £1m for the rest of the season. Fryatt out for £1.2m. Morrison out for £250k, Bamba in for £250k. Fryatt and Morrison wages maybe similar to Bamba. Net result = books balanced. Potential loss at the end of the season if we do not get promotion will only ( so far ) be Yakubu's wages. Reports suggested that there would be some quite big sums available for Sven to improve the squad. He ain't hardly spent anything yet!
Wdywd Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 There's still 2 weeks to go yet, I'm sure we'll get a couple more players in. Probably a keeper at some point. Also, Yakubu's on £35/40k!? Is there a source for that? Mental money in this league.

I don't think Everton sites would be talking down his wages, so seems to me quite likely to be fairly accurate.
Wdywd Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Fair enough, it'll be worth it if he gets us up I spose. And I guess money isn't that much of an issue now. But still!
JamesLCFC Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 If we talk about transfer money and not wages for a minute Fryatt 1.2 million morrison 250k IN Bamba 250l If we add this so called 10 million given to us, i cant really see us spending 11.2 million anymore can you

Also a 'spend' for a manager always means purchase price plus wage bill. In other words if Sven brought in 5 more loan players from across the world at £80k per week each he would be using his whole '£10m budget'.
Bryn Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I reckon he's still looking at keepers, left backs and centre mids. Surprised we haven't been linked with any right sided midfielders to give the squad a bit more balance.

Surprised we haven't been linked with any right sided midfielders to give the squad a bit more balance. This is probably the case. We could do with one of each tbh, but if we go for another centre mid, I hope it's not a Vieira style thing. We need someone to give us another option in there, not a player who'd be on huge wages and would have to play every week.

You forgot Ben Mee, although his wages will probably be negligible in this context, and a possible loan fee for either one.
Ozwin Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Naughton definately costs quite a large amount to get on loan because QPR wanted him didn't they and Warnock had to back down
Simo86 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I'm pretty sure yakubu's deal would have included a decent sized loan fee. Just cos Sven has the money doesn't mean he has to spend it. If he thinks he's got a good enough squad to get us promoted he won't just buy players for the hell of it. It makes more sense to hold on to the rest of the budget til the summer.
MeatyLCFC Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 look on the bright side! its basically 2 swaps in the team: fryatt >>> yakubu £1.2 mill on yak's wages morro >>> bamba at the same price. i would take tht anyday of the week and im sure sven is still looking for a LB + CM
topharry123 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I'm not sure we really need anything else as far as 1st team goes. The firepower now seems perfectly fine to me. The midfield is the best we have had since the days of Guppy/Savage/Izzet/Lennon. Goalkeeper is fine. The defence seems well stacked right now as well. I think we probably need another backup goalkeeper, and maybe some more backup for the back line. Apart from that i'm very excited about the squad we have right now and am getting more confident by the day that we can make the play offs this year.
Adster Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 IMO i don't think we need to spend £11m or however much we have, we have a squad of good enough players, as proven since Sven took over. Just a few additions and we'll be fine, no need to spend when we don't need to.
Webbo Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 we have to pay loan fees for the players we've loaned as well as agents fees. I'd bet we've spent a bit already.
top cheese Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I think everyone has to think big picture with the signings Sven is trying to make. He clearly has solved his striker problem with Yakabu and potentially Parker. But he still needs cover in central midfield and at left back and yes another GK. What everyone has to remember is that Sven is trying to build a squad that can win promotion. And to do that you need a squad with plenty of depth and competition. I think the squad has great players in it right now but you need two quality players at the very least at every position to compete. Yes some players in the areas Sven wants to add to are excelling right now but over the course of a 50+ game schedule (league/CUP) you can rely on the same quality players to remain at a high level or say fit. Surely, after 25-30 straight 90 minute games players will burn out somewhat and players get injuried. What happened to Greg Cunnigham could happen to say Chris Weale (knock on wood)....then you'd be left with Conrad Logan as your #1 and everyone will be complaining over that. God forbid Richie Wellons gets an injury then youd have to rely on Oakely long term. Bruno Berner is a quality left back but he lacks pace and surely at 30 years old it would be wise to have another option there. Every good "Premiership" level team has plenty of depth in the squad and academy and that is what Sven is trying to do. Talent, Motivation, Good Tactics, DEPTH wins games not going back to old faithfulls every game............. Kusczack would be an intresting signing if the money is correct....or even a goaltender at the same level of weale would be great. MIchael Johnson would be a low risk high reward signing even on loan. I would think he would have some consideration for the England Set-up by now if he was healthy and playing regualrly in the Premiership. If Uchetti (pardon my spelling) is actually signed. How many think that it was actually a sympathy signing to help bring Yakabu in?
fatmando Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 we have to pay loan fees for the players we've loaned as well as agents fees. I'd bet we've spent a bit already. Still got spare few million quid to spend though?
Guest Bilo Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I don't see the complaint. We're still breaking even but have replaced a flawed Championship striker with a proven international one, and improved the defence with the signing of an Ivory Coast international that just so happens to be an absolute monster in the air. There are still two weeks to go as well to improve the squad further if Sven feels it's needed.

CKB Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 It's a total bastard we haven't signed every player on the planet and his dog...............
kyle09uk Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 agreed - soon we're gonna run out of players to buy n im gonna be REAL pissed off!
mmarkie Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I don't know where to put this, but find it on twitter... http://aggregatore.seoguru.it/323152/lazio-offerto-garrido-al-leicester-city.html Translates to; Garrido offered to Leicester City Leicester City full-back Garrido offered to Lazio, is finding no luck in society biancoceleste (only a presence up to now). As reported by Sky Sports, the club Lotito would offer the player at Leicester City, but the player refused to destination. Played under Sven at Man City if I recall correctly.
