Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 I thought he was aaverage last night. I think he should have done better with one goal at least, shoudnt be letting in so many long shots liek he does.
dannythefox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Great keeper from close range but hes crap from any distance players must no to have a pop because he gets beat most times.
funkyrobot Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 It's a shame that casino-jimmy neilsen isn't still at the club as I heard he was good with long shots.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Agree with what most folk are saying that Weale is neither a messiah nor a misfit, he is a competent keeper at this level but not sure if (by that i mean WHEN!!!) we ever get back in the Prem. Up the Foxes
Fox1651 Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Weale reminds me a bit of Mark Grew - does anybody remember him? Okay keeper but no better, but whilst he pulls on our proud jersey i will continue to support him
cc_star Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Naughton was at fault for the 4th goal, if you know your keeper is not great at saving long shots, don't let them shoot from distance. Naughton should have closed him down, I know there was a man out wide but better to push the ball out wide and let him cross it in than have a shot from distance without being under any pressure. (Apart from that incedent I thought Naughton was immense last night). If we replace Weale with Given then fair enough, but if he can work on his long range shot stopping in trainging then we will have a very solid keeper on our hands and there is no point bringing anyone in who is not of Given's quality. The defence must also be aware of his weaknesses and ensure that they don't give the opposition time and space to have a shot on the edge of the area/30 yards. Yup, he's brilliant going forward and his pace is great at the back & gets him (and the team) out of a few holes, but his defensive awareness is at times poor - Naughton was also ball watching when Berner got turned for the 2nd goal as the ball just drifted past him for Viera to tap-in when he should have been either marking the far post making it difficult for an incoming attacker, or should have had a stab at the ball even though an own goal was likely.
funkyrobot Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Mike hooper was great. He was fat, ugly and Ginger and put off strikers with this combination. He couldn't dive, catch or kick the ball very well but you can't have everything. I'd re-sign casino jimmy and have spider on the bench with russell hoult serving the hot dogs.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Mike Hooper now there was a keeper - spot on funkyrobot, he was fat ugly ginger and stunk of piss
Fox1651 Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 The stunk of piss comment a bit harsh?? But funny
funkyrobot Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 The only time we he didn't stink of piss was when he shit himself whilst letting in 4 at home against the Geordies. That day his scent was pure arse
Itsthejoeker Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the ball played to an offside player before Kolarov shot?
Fox92 Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Doesn't talk enough or seem to arrange his back four. Also, to easily beaten from long range. Looking at, not just his game, and the little things represent why Sven is looking for new players to replace them. Remember, Sven was an International manager, he has managed the likes of Steven Gerrard and Didier Drogba, so some of the little attributes that the players don't have Sven will pick up on. I have said this ever since he joined, he isn't a number one goalkeeper.
