This Sven Guy! (Pt . 2) - gives us all P.R.I.D.E

My earlier tongue-in-cheek thread 'This Sven Guy!' provoked a variety of interesting and indeed perceptive responses and general constructive discussion.

This time, for real, and in a positive way, I am mindful of and grateful for the following qualities Sven has improved on or brought afresh to the team which may be neatly summed up in one word -P.R.I.D.E.

P for Pace, Passion, Progress, Promise, Positivity and Possible Promotion

R for Resilience, Responsibility and Results

I for Invention, and Individuality,

D for Discipline and Determination

E for Excellence, Excitement, Expression and Entertainment.

Thank you Sven and I hope you had a happy Birthday because we did!

The best manager since Martin O'Neill. Fact.

Based on what has happened so far I disagree, Pearson is still the best since MON for me.

Either way, it isn't 'fact' but I don't wish to turn this into an argument about pearson and sven so I shall say no more on the matter, and more importantly, everyone is behind sven, so onwards and upwards may we continue! :scarf:

i agree in footballing terms yes and in fact they way we knock the ball about at the moment you have to say (IMO) is the best ive seen us play footy in 30 plus years of watching City, the only downside is that we arent as resilient, mentally tough and nor do we possess that literal "Will to Win" that O'Neills side had in abundance so yes in general i agree best manager since O'God (better than Pearson IMO)

The best manager after M.O.N was Harry Bassett....

;)

Sven is a terrific manager, we're seeing proof of it. Hope we can keep him for many seasons to come.

Sven is a better manager than O'Neill, he just hasn't been with us long enough yet.

I am not saying he we will do the job O'Neill did, but on paper, he is the best manager this club has ever appointed.

The best manager since Martin O'Neill. Fact.

I think you are confusing fact, with your opinion, Sven has so far acheived nothing, nice football some good results, but we have not won anything, yet.

Nigel Pearson, promotion from League 1 at the first time of asking, playoff semi defeat on penalties, he got the best out of a limited squad with limited resources, that is being a great manager.

Mickey Adams Won promotion to the premiership at the first time of asking, despite financial problems and again a pretty limited squad a good manager.

Sven played 20 W11 D4 L5 after inheriting a squad that reached the play offs the year before, although very low on confidence and fitness, strong financial backing. Don't get me wrong Sven has done a good job but he has done nothing to warrant being in the hall of fame yet, we are a long way off the playoffs if he gets us promoted and keeps us up then yes he will be a legend, but at the moment he hasn't achieved what NP did last season, yet.

It's great we have Sven in charge he is much better than most of the dross we have had here in the last 10 years, but this constant over the top fellating of our glorious leader is getting a little tiresome. Judge him at the end of season, it looks like we stand a good chance of getting to the play offs, but there is a big difference between reaching the play offs and winning them. Judge him by what happens next season when half our first team goes back to their parent clubs, do not judge him on 20 games of which we have won half, and because the last person in the job was so incapable that next to him anyone would look like a good manager.

Agreed, NP and MA rank as better managers as they acheived more with LCFC over a longer period of time. MON of course stands out as the greatest of all time.

However, there is a fresh wave of optimism around The Walkers and Sven deserves every credit for what he's done! When he took over, morale was low, our perfomances were terrible and we were bottom of the table. Since then, our turnaround has been magnificent and we stand a decent chance of making the play-offs for the second season in a row. All this with minimal money spent and in a short period of time!

Personally I had this season down as a relegation dogfight nail-biter after Sousa's reign at the start of the season, so I am very glad that Sven has been so good for us. I'm now more worried that he will leave during the summer as he may well be offered a job at a whole host of other clubs.

If we keep Sven, Naughton, King, Yakubu, etc then I think we'd have a great team and could challenge for automatic promotion next season. I don't think we'll get promoted this season (although we have an outside chance), but I'll take top-half of the table after our terrible start!

In Sven we trust!

It depends also what we as fans value. I value great football therefor I think it's easy for me to choose. Some people wants hoof, kicking or boring football. I've heard nothing positive about Pearsons team except that they gave it all(defending). Pearsons team of today were swept away pretty easy by Sven's selection.

Micky says Adams fooked up and lost the plot towards the end.

You have to judge a manager over their entire career at the club.

Another reason why saying Sven is the best manager since MON is retarded.

As for Sven's team vs Pearson's team, I reckon it would be like Preston, obvious difference in ability, but fight and never say die attitude would have got a point for Pearson's team.

@B52 it was widely regarded that we were playing much better football under Sousa than under Pearson, but we weren't winning anything, so nice football needs to come with results to make a successful manager. Fortunately Sven is doing that, but it is still too early in his Leicester career to start building a statue of him outside the ground. A couple of years in the prem and the FA cup and I will happily call him the best manager in my lifetime, possibly even in the clubs history, but for now he is doing a great job with significant financial backing and nothing more.
