Guest lcfc80 Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 I have to say I absolutely deplore some of the ditty's that seem to have become popular of late with traveling fans. "This is a shithole.. I wanna go home." So you were brought to the game at gunpoint? And I suppose your own stadium is a little palace?? Oh please. "You're support is ****ing shit." Sung without fail at every game by some visiting fans. And whilst visiting teams such as us with one of the best average attendances in the league just makes them look stupid. There is a real know better / put down culture in this country at the moment, is it down to that or just plain stupidity? please tell me this is a joke. fans sing songs to wind up the opposition fans, looks like its worked
Guest lcfc80 Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 The difference is, it isnt well known. Only Man City fans and we do it, ulike the chants today. the Poznan not well known, are you sure. It just hasnt caught on because its the most cringeworthy thing to happen in a football ground since michael knighton thought he brought Man Utd
The Doctor Posted 14 March 2011 Posted 14 March 2011 the Poznan not well known, are you sure. It just hasnt caught on because its the most cringeworthy thing to happen in a football ground since michael knighton thought he brought Man Utd you're entitled to your opinion i guess, i think it's more to do with traditional british views - being scared of anything foreign. Also there are things more cringeworthy than a reverse grecque.
accessory Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 please tell me this is a joke. fans sing songs to wind up the opposition fans, looks like its worked When fans from Coventry and West Bromwich come to the Way and emit this chant without the slightest tinge of irony, yes it does grate. As the the thread poster observed, their towns aren't exactly in the Beverly Hills class.

If we had a stadium full of fans like yourself it would be a misreable day out
Fosse Boy Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 And there's me thinking banter need to be witty to qualify as such. What a daft old bugger I am.
lcfcadam Posted 15 March 2011 Posted 15 March 2011 please tell me this is a joke. fans sing songs to wind up the opposition fans, looks like its worked The original poster wasn't trying to say that we shouldn't sing these songs because they might wind up opposition fans, he was pointing out that they're embarrassing when massively overused. Every team across the country is now singing "This is a shithole..." at every bloody away game - it just ends up being nonsensical and a bit silly really. the Poznan not well known, are you sure. It just hasnt caught on because its the most cringeworthy thing to happen in a football ground since michael knighton thought he brought Man Utd You're entitled to your opinion, but I'm also entitled to tell you that you're wrong, and preferably to eff off and stop being a kill-joy.

Im glad i dont bother going anymore
Finnegan Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 I don't think it's wound up "everyone that's heard it." As I've said, I think most of us just cringe because it's completely shit, not because we're offended.
Bugg Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 There's a time when to sing it: When you're in an actual dump of a town whilst winning near the end of the game. Not when the train you are on hasn't even arrived at scunthorpe station.
lcfcadam Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 you're missing the point, its wound up everyone that is slating it so the song has served its purpose It couldn't wind me up less when opposition fans are singing it at us, just makes me laugh. It only winds me up when we start singing it because it's often so cringeworthy.
smallpauldj Posted 16 March 2011 Posted 16 March 2011 i also dislike the song this is a shithole and only because every other clubs fans in England are singing it and its a crap song. It wouldnt be so bad if it was just a one off song but you hear it like five times a game.
Arkie Bennett Posted 19 March 2011 Posted 19 March 2011 It always saddens me to hear "you never notice how much I love you". A tale of unrequited love.
