thybluefox Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 If Chelsea and Holland still regard him as such a great prospect in 2 years time I will be very, very surprised. Try to open your mind a little bit, and your eyes. You say Carlo Ancelotti rates him but what have YOU seen. Don't be another one of those Sven bumming, The Sun reading sheep who can't think for themselves. Tell me you think Van Aanholt's looked good and I won't believe you. Wrong.
ajthefox Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 PVA is decent and on saturdays performance I'd definitely have him over Mee, but I don't think PVA will live up to some of the praise he has had. I really don't see him being as good as Cole anyway, I know he's young but there's no physicality to his game and I think his awareness in terms of positioning often looks pretty poor.
Kitchandro Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Wrong. I'd like to see him prove it. He's not even got the attitude let alone the football brain, defensive awareness and passing and tackling skills.
Bettsj2 Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 I'd like to see him prove it. He's not even got the attitude let alone the football brain, defensive awareness and passing and tackling skills. A couple of games he's looked good and in a couple of games he's looked shaky. Not really played enough to form a proper opinion yet so bit unfair to right him off but also not done enough to earn any praise.
thybluefox Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 I'd like to see him prove it. He's not even got the attitude let alone the football brain, defensive awareness and passing and tackling skills. He's blatantly got talent, he's quick and has shown that he can deliver a good ball. I'll agree the defensive side of his game needs improving but that can be taught - whether or not that can be taught here I'm not sure. Anyway, its all an irrelevance IMO, whatever happens with this season, he won't be here next. Cunningham on the other hand....
Fox92 Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 obviously you have no idea how good most of these players are: Waghorn: sound from last year but hasnt been given the chance this year Dyer : 100% plays his heart out 24/7 Fryatt : best striker for many years Hobbs : player of the season last year but struggled this 1 Weale : well you only have to look at RICARDO and ull think jesus weale is sound Wrong. Dyer is supposed to be a winger. But when he comes on he comes inside too much for any kind of winger, leaving the left back with no help/option. He is far to inconsistant to even indicate that he is good enough to get in a team looking for promotion, hence why he never made it at this level/a higher level for West Brom who released him. His pace is a threat, that is all. Weale is not "sound" as you put it, but Ricardo isn't to much better either. We haven't got a "good" goalkeeper like the better teams in the division. Weale doesn't communicate and he holds on to the ball to long, plus he can't deal with long shots... Why is everyone slating Van Aanholt FFS we are missing him at the moment, his pace and his balance to the side.
Stevosevic Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Waghorn has been awful this season, he would probably admit that himself.
Babylon Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 I think he has the makings of a good player, he's just very frustrating at the moment. One minute he will skip past his man with ease and put in a fantastic ball, the next minute he crosses in to row Z of the stand. Not much different from other youngsters that age though as Gradel was the same and Waghorn is very inconsistent.
Bugg Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Waghorn has been awful this season, he would probably admit that himself. Even if Waghorn does say that, you'll still get jumped on by the "Waggy does no wrong" crew.
Fox92 Posted 24 March 2011 Posted 24 March 2011 Waghorn has no control in his shot. He doesn't offer that much in my opinion.
