Austin Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Self explanatory, who's your favourite players from the past and present? 3 of my all time favourites are .. Currently my favourite player in the world is probably .. Edit: Apologies if this thread has already been done a million times like the New kit/ Weale's shite etc .. Just wanted other peoples thoughts
TheUltimateWinner Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Past: Current: Picked this picture because he is crunching Roman Bednar
Collier Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Didn't the Argie press mock that up after they embarrassed themselves in 2002? Great work.
Bugg Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Edit - Just noticed Litser added it, but he was still a favourite.
StanSP Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Collier and ScouseFox have mentioned 3 of mine already (Del Piero, Bergkamp and Henry). Messi, Xavi and Iniesta my favourites at the moment by a few country miles. Other faves: Can't think of any more at the moment. EDIT: Just realised that all of them played for A.C Milan at some point or another. That's just coincidence!
Finnegan Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Seedorf would definitely make my top 10. Holland were my favourite side for years as a kid, in no small part due to this hero:
Austin Posted 1 May 2011 Author Posted 1 May 2011 Seedorf would definitely make my top 10. Holland were my favourite side for years as a kid, in no small part due to this hero: I loved him man Hate that he played for Newcastle!
StanSP Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 I loved their kit too Seedord, Kluivert, Davids, Cocu and the De Boer brothers were part of a quality Dutch generation.
ScouseFox Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Aye, I loved Holland as well, mainly because they wore orange. So Ruud, Kluivert, Seedorf, Davids, Bergkamp, Overmars etc. were all heroes.
Finnegan Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 The blue away shirt from 2000 was gorgeous. Best football shirt I've ever owned, bar none.
StanSP Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 A few more of Brazilian superstar favourites: Bebeto: Romario and Rivaldo (although I went off the latter for his dramatics against Turkey...) More others:
FoxyPV Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 For two goals - This one pictured and one against England. Nedved, Batigol, Zidane etc already listed.
sdb Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 It was the british press that did the Argentine mock-up i think. Always hated Ronaldinho. Thought he was overrated and by the time I realised he wasn't he contrived to actually become overrated. Loved Wilson Palacios at Wigan. Salcido during World Cups. Bunch of Nigerian players during WC 98. Andy Cole.
Austin Posted 1 May 2011 Author Posted 1 May 2011 Amazing player .. No one will ever know how old he really is.
Haydos Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Always hated Ronaldinho. Thought he was overrated and by the time I realised he wasn't he contrived to actually become overrated. How could you possibly think that? He's up there with a few of the most naturally gifted players I've ever seen, some would argue the MOST gifted. On his day he was mind-blowing. Alright he never stayed at his peak for more than 4 years but as a youngster and in his prime he was a genius. Maybe not one of the best ever but possibly the most talented.
StanSP Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Over-rated players do not do this, talented and gifted players do: As well as the countless free-kicks he's scored (barring the fluke against England )
ScouseFox Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 When he was younger, he was unstoppable. And he seems a genuinely nice guy.
Finnegan Posted 1 May 2011 Posted 1 May 2011 Genuinely a tiny bit gutted Ronaldinho went so off the rails. Nothing against Messi, I think he's fantastic and capable of utter brilliance, but I always felt more excitement and more anticipation watching Ronaldinho at his best.
