Finnegan Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Q 2) My daughter has moved into a neglected council house, she lives alone. She has a large garden overgrown with weeds and nettles. Whats the quickest and easiest way to tidy it, the overgrowth is too much for a domestic strimmer, I've tried... took 90 mins to clear 4sq metres and the garden's about 400sq mtrs. Sorry, just seen this. Is it still a council house, ie is she a council tenant? Or has she bought it? If she's a council tenant then technically the state of the garden is the tenant's responsibility, it actually states such in her conditions of tenancy. However if she actually received the property in that state then she has just cause to complain as it's a bit of a let-down by the team the council send round to clear out and tidy up 'void' properties. Tell her to get in touch with her housing officer / estate management officer and make a bit of a fuss. Keep in mind that housing officers are, to be fair, very busy people (and that there's a severe lack of ground workers and labourers to actually do the work) and this probably won't be a priority for them. So she might need to stomp her feet a bit and, if push comes to shove, write a letter to her local councilor (er, after the elections!) But she should be able to get it done as a one-off if it really is that bad. Alternatively then something like Cambridge Fox's idea is ideal. Get her to buy a few crates of beers, invite a bunch of friends round, have a BBQ and in exchange just get some help clearing it out. It might look a mess but you'd be amazed how quick seven or eight untrained people can chomp through undergrowth if you give them a few reasonable tools. Couple of spades, some shears, a rake or two and you're away.
DB11 Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Doing what?... I mostly just I M for a couple hrs, does this use much Mb? Nothing extraordinary tbh just Facebook and browsing. Occasional YouTube videos to listen to music but that's about it See how it goes for the first month.
ozleicester Posted 5 May 2011 Posted 5 May 2011 Q 1) I have burrowing bees in my garden how do i deal with them as I need to get rid. I have been told they are protected and can't be disturbed or harmed. What do i do? Contact the CIA/US government, they will appear one night, invade the nest, kill the occupants, dispose of the bodies and have a street party to celebrate Q 2) My daughter has moved into a neglected council house, she lives alone.
