As a Canadian Fan of city I've haven't been privilaged enough to watch alot of City games this year but I've been able to keep up on the news of the team through the internet. I'm a bit amazed at some of the players linked to the team so far this year not because of the money your new owners have and are willing to spend but how unrealistic some are.

I think the real issue with the team over the past year was the managment selection process and the lack of trust in many of the players from the season before. The team last season was very successfull and driven under Pearson. When he left most of the players stayed and the wrong replacement for Pearson was selected in Sousa. You kept the same players, change the manager, the manager prefers a new style under the same players. It was destined to cause problems. Because of that I think some good players underachieved at the begining of the Season, and like most English fans, City Fans got upset.... players loose confidence and then the team chemistry is messed up. And Chemistry and Confidence are a big thing.

Players like Chris Weale, Steve Howard, Jack Hobbs, Marty Waghorn, Bruno bernier, Dyer, where warriors for the team the year before and then thrown under the bus almost imediately after Sousa entered and messed with the team. Enter Erriksson and again the idea is to bring in an entirely new team full of loans. If the manager is rated so highly in the inter circles of Football he should be able to take the majority of what has been given to him and make it succeed. Adjust his managment style to the players he has available and make them succeed. I really feel that the differance between this seasons team and last years (that could easily been in the premiership) was the continuity in the group and the lack of leadership on and off the field. You want a group of players who grow together and will go to war for each other and the club and build on that. Not have a revolving door of mercenaries and 100 different looks on the back-line! Look at QPR. My first live City game I was able to watch was at the Walkers against City now a season and half ago. City man handled QPR then. QPR was midtable all season brought the same group together this year for the most part and built on it. They finnish first City is constant change their in turmoil.

So before everyone on the site begs for more big time loans and throwing out the cash. success is built on building a core of committed players and then tweaking things as they go to push you over the top. NOT splashing the cash and bringing in a bunch of has beens who want a last contract. dont quit on players who battle for you week in week out. Quit with the Huddlestone, Woodgate, Heskey, etc rumour they wont help.

ON another note...... I'd say a Jack Hobss Alex Tunchev partnership would be amongest the league best next year if they were given a chance. City tried about 100 different backlines last season and there was no continuity amongest the back but I think the big issue was the lack of steel in the mid-field to protect the back four. Wellons and King are excellent going forward but need an Owen Hargreaves type to clean up the mess and help the CB's.

still cant believe people are living in the past with the whole Steve Howard, Bruno Berner, Chris Weale, Martyn Waghorn, Jack Hobbs etc will win us this leauge.

the squad we had when Pearson brought us into the championship wasn't a particularly good one, we had a good manager who knew how to get the best out the players he had, he was a good motivator / man manager. The team itself had the right balance between youth and experience and we took the confidence from winning leauge 1 into the championship, like most teams do.

you said ' If the manager is rated so highly in the inter circles of Football he should be able to take the majority of what has been given to him and make it succeed. Adjust his managment style to the players he has available and make them succeed'.

firstly money was given to him, so he's not gunna come here and play around with somebody else's squad and hope we get out the relegation zone, he's going to want to bring his own players in who he knows will get us out the relegation zone, after all it was all of those names above that got us there in the first place! Sven is a big name in the footballing world and can attract big players so why people want to stick to what we had a few season ago is beyond me, there not good enough and Sven knows this hence why most of them will be gone.

jesus give the guy a chance

he didnt do a bad job last season taking a team with no fitness or confidence from rock bottom with a -20 goal differance to within touching distance of the playoffs.

Hobbs is a good defender... but he can't PASS!!!! We need good defenders who can actually get the ball out of defence to start an attack that isn't lumping it up front route one style.

Here we go again.

Weale, Howard, Hobbs, Berner & Dyer have all done a job for the club but their time has gone, I expect to see a better class of player then these in the next few months.

I once was given a shirt. The person that gave me the shirt looked pretty good in it although never scored any beauties. I wore it to a couple of functions and found that although the shirt was nice and sort of fitted me, it pulled under the arms and across the chest. The shirt also looked a little tired in some areas - still I persevered as 'a wearer of shirts' and although I lacked confidence in the performance of the shirt, I tried not to let it affect my confidence, my sense of style and the lack of winning formula that previous shirts had had, in defining my identity.

As time passed, I couldn't make the shirt work for me and I didn't feel really that comfortable wearing it anymore. Others too, began to criticise my appearance.

One day my employer offered to buy me a new shirt, though he wanted me in this new attire by the following day for a very important meeting.

I went shopping with short notice and got several really good shirts but not perfect. The shirts lasted me nearly 6 months before my employer approached me again and informed me that he was giving me his company credit card to go out and buy myself a winning shirt, one that I really loved. So the same thing did not happen, my employer has loaned me his credit card for two months to allow me the time to get a perfect shirt.

I have been looking in my existing wardrobe, charity shops and the generic high street and have found some good makings of a shirt but nothing perfect yet. So I'm off to Milan (no pun intended) next week to get the best shirt available for my big meeting in two months. It will be expensive but who cares - quality is quality.

I have typed this in simpler words for a while and the above fable is an attempt to meet the very special football learning needs of a very special type of poster in the hope that at some point, as a collective, they may finally 'get-it'.

Did Pearson, did O'Neil? No, they bought in players to play THEIR way. Sven is not here to run a carbon copy team of Pearsons, he's here to do his own thing.

If we can score goals like we have done this year, and tighten up at the back, we'll be ok next season.
