MPH Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I follow Martin Castrogiovani on Twitter.. The Leicester Tigers Prop who wrote this 3 hours ago the day after the Tigers Lost the Premiership final.. "Tiger till I die....this is my shirt and I will die for it....." http://twitter.com/#!/castrito81 What a brilliant attitude for a player. - and this from a 'foreign import' too - not home grown but born in Italy and moved to Leicester about 4 years ago. What Pearson's team lacked in the current funding SGE is getting and supposed subsequent class of player he is able to target because of it... He made up for it by being able to motivate the team. But who currently in our team would ever make a statement like that? Publicly. to the fans. Mr Sven... if you are able to cultivate this passion amongst our team even from just two or three players... this will be what gets us promoted, not the hordes of players you will bring in. And if you can combine the both... The Sky is the Limit!! ( or at least a top ten prem finish )
dave the caveman Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I just put the same thing about LCFC on twitter. Now I've publicly demonstrated my passion for the club, I fully expect to be playing on the right wing next season.

superfox1980 Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Castro was born in Argentina I know him personally and yes he is a passionate guy and the tigers have given him a much better life. It's nice to see someone showing such passion towards a club. Wouldn't get that from many footballers !
One Arm Babba Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Castro also recently signed a contract extension when he was offered more money to play in france. Top man

Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Tigers have the good fortune to be the rugby equivilant of Man Utd though. Maybe more of the City players might speak thus if they played for Man U?
superfox1980 Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Maybe so but didnt ever hear Cristano Ronaldo being so passionate about his shirt.
shailen Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Sorry i love to see passionate players who play for the club, however quality is more important. Yakubu is a prime example, not the most passionate but damn is he effective. The key is to motivate the quality players which is hard to do, but thats what svens paid for!
Corky Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 I suppose it depends on which player says it? Some will receive "hero, legend, top man", others will receive a hearty "piss off, he's shit etc".
superfox1980 Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Rugby and football are two different worlds. There's still a certain amount of innocence about rugby and playing for a team and your team mates is everything. You dont get that these days in football. Players like Steve Walsh and Muzzy whom I would say really gave a sh*t about LCFC are few and far between. Still applaude Castro for his passion. Far too much money in football for players to be sentimental I guess.
bisto Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 i dont think you will ever get 11 players that all really love the team but i do think if you can get even one out of the team that would give everythinhg and loves leicester city it does make a big difference. it spurs on the team and brings out the fans .

I actually think Martin O'Neill hit the right balance. Pearson's passion = play offs. Svens slick footy = almost play offs. two combined = promotion.

Its a win win situation.
The Doctor Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 pashun © is a crutch for players not good enough to play at the level they are at.
Donut Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 Only local lads are going to have a passion for Leicester the club What you hope is the players show passion in their determination, for each other and themselves, a pride in performance and to use their 'passion' in the right ways I dont care that Yakubu doesnt run around like some demented flea or makes tackles everywhere, keep showing your passion in your class and your finishing I dont care that Andy King can look invisible sometimes, just keep making your clever movements and arrive in the box late and make space for others Tacklers and stoppers, tackle and stop! One other thing about passion, or pashunor whatever you want to call it.........dont let passion obscure proper decision making on the pitch. Dont go thundering into tackles if its not in your favour and you stand to give away free kicks in dangerous areas, or do a Mee and give away penalties. That isnt intelligent football.

Agree with all of that!
Haydos Posted 29 May 2011 Posted 29 May 2011 How long's this 'pashun' bollocks going to go on for? You all sound like twats. On topic, I've never been able to understand how a player, any player, playing for anyone can give less than 100%. It's ingrained as an athlete. I've always hated losing, whatever I'm playing, even at amateur level. It gets ripped to shreds by the geniuses on here but it's a great characteristic to have. Someone who puts their body on the line, someone who doesn't slack off after 85 minutes, someone who really cares what happens to the team, someone who runs their arse into the ground even if it's fruitless. Ability comes first every time but it's been a long time since we had someone who really gave a shit about this club so apologies to some of the braindeads if 'pashun' is still something some people think is an important part of football. EDIT: Last sentence didn't even slightly make sense

Think I deleted and re-typed some shit there and it now doesn't make sense. I do. And I'm just sick of people taking the piss (eg. out of your OP) any time anyone even mentions it in a positive way. Every time anything about showing a little bit of commitment is posted, in whatever context, you'll get several people posting one word: 'pashun'. They don't even read the post, they'll just see a few buzzwords and instantly their simple sheep-like brain will instruct them to write those 6 stupid-as-**** letters.
