StanSP Posted 6 June 2011 Share Posted 6 June 2011 Would Bill Bailey count as a Musical Comedy Act? Genius, is Bill.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 June 2011 Share Posted 6 June 2011 this one's a good 'un No no no no no! Victoria "pause before punchline, blink rapidly upon delivering it" Wood. No no no no no! This is vaguely funny, but is more just quite observant... but in general musical comedy doesn't work because music you want to listen to again and again, whereas comedy relies on surprising you, so you can't listen to the same joke too often. Zingari Posted 6 June 2011 Author Share Posted 6 June 2011 I hear what your saying Trav , and do agree to a certain extent , But comedy in music is more than just the punchline and doesn't rely so much on the element of surprise . As an example , how many of us would willingly join in with the old " Star Trekkin " song ? It still makes us laugh ( well it does in this establishment ) I mean , we know what's coming , but it still amuses us , although maybe on a different level to a joke Somehow it's got a sort of Christmas cracker joke appeal to it that maybe has been lost in recent years And Stan , yes Bill Bailey definitely would count as music comedy in my opinion
