Darkon84 Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Brazilian legend Ronaldo played his last 15 minsutes of football in Brazils victory over Romania. In his day... what an incredible player, enjoy retirement Mr REAL Ronaldo. LInk http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/article/53126/ Ronaldo was given a hero's send-off by Brazil fans despite missing three chances in the 15 minutes for which he was on the pitch in a lacklustre 1-0 win over Romania in a friendly in Sao Paulo. Ronaldo, 34, retired in February saying he struggled to keep his weight in check for the rigours of top-flight football due to a thyroid problem. He looked rather chubby against the Romanians yet showed great positional sense to get himself in position to score - but his famed finishing skills deserted him on the day. "People, you are too much. Please forgive me - I had goal chances and I didn't manage to score in my last match, my last 15 minutes," said Ronaldo, wrapped in a Brazilian flag, after a lap of honour of the Pacaembu where he played for his last club Corinthians. "I can only thank you for all your support, all the love the Brazilian people have given me all these years," he told the crowd from the centre circle at half-time. The striker, who played for both Milan clubs and Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid in a brilliant career, was inside the six-yard box ready to tap in Maicon's low cross from the right but goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu blocked. Robinho then set the unmarked Ronaldo up with an easier chance but the holder of a record 15 World Cup goals and two winners' medals sliced the ball way over the top. Neymar then pulled the ball back from the goalline on the right and Ronaldo shot low, forcing Tatarusanu into a good diving save. Fred, who started the match before making way with 15 minutes remaining in the first half for the former Brazil striker, scored the winner right in front of goal from Neymar's low left cross in the 22nd minute. In honour of Ronaldo, the entire Brazil team recreated his famous finger wag celebration after the goal.

Darkon84 Posted 8 June 2011 Author Posted 8 June 2011 What a fat ****! Was'nt he also caught with a couple of Transvestite hookers also? Clean living lad. Im not having this turn in to a thread slating him. this is PURELY about his footballing abilities and the FACT that on the pitch, in his prime, he was untouchable! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M7R8nKMxlo&feature=related
ajthefox Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Looks huge there but an absolute legend none the less.
Darkon84 Posted 8 June 2011 Author Posted 8 June 2011 Looks huge there but an absolute legend none the less. yea that pic was literally the other day against Romania. He was given the cameo as a send off, as it was played as the Corinthians ground. He hasnt played since February, and we all know he struggled with his weight in the latter part of his career, but lets not it overshadow his ability

The Doctor Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 One of the greatest players in recent years and far and away the best striker there has been during the past 10-15 years.
shen Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 Apart from the 1998 World Cup whilst in his prime he completely bottled playing the final. I think it's well documented why. And by all means don't mention his wonderful 2002 world cup, where he scored both goals in the final
Guest Bilo Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 When he was in his prime, absolutely immense. I always felt him to be a better player than his Portuguese namesake. It's sad to see what he has become, and that picture pretty much sums it up, but we mustn't forget the bloke was a genius in his prime.

Strange to see these South Americans letting themselves go so badly. In recent times Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Adriano all had problems keeping away from the pies.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 June 2011 Posted 8 June 2011 What a fat ****! Was'nt he also caught with a couple of Transvestite hookers also? Clean living lad. Seriously though. Fuck off.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Strange to see these South Americans letting themselves go so badly. In recent times Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Adriano all had problems keeping away from the pies. Didn't Ronaldo have an underactive thyroid or something though? And he couldn't take drugs to control it as he'd get banned from football for using them? Not exactly the pies.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 Don't forget Jardel and Ailton, less talented but the same applies. Jardel aka Barge Arse played in the A-leauge a few years was useless. Also can't forget Maradonna he stoped playing an blew up like a balloon
Haydos Posted 9 June 2011 Posted 9 June 2011 What a fat ****! Was'nt he also caught with a couple of Transvestite hookers also? Clean living lad. First of all, **** off. The man was a genius. Completely untouchable on his day and a hero throughout my childhood. Legend.

It's not your opinion I was debating, it was your mouth. Just because someone disagrees with you there is no need to tell them to **** off. Do I think he was a very very good player, oh yes I do. Do I think he wasted the opportunity to be a great player through his personal life, very much so.
