New England Fox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Seems he's ok luckily, the way he flew into that fence it could have been a lot worse.
shen Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Seems he's ok luckily, the way he flew into that fence it could have been a lot worse. He was in tears when he received the KOM jersey on the podium. Apparently Vino's broken his leg. That's his career ended prematurely
New England Fox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 As horrible as breaking his leg is, with the speed they were going down that mountain and the size of the ditch he ended up going down, it could have been much much worse.
Jonezy Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Looks like I missed a stage of absolute chaos today then.... What a frustrating Tour, this has become. Crashes, crashes and more crashes, and not just normal crashes, but motorcycles and cars crashing into riders, and all favorites bar Evans and the Schlecks either affected or out. Predicting voeckler to win in a breakaway is hardly an inspired pick . Not to mention you predicted it for yesterday not today. Yeah, that was my prediction yesterday. That Portugese dude stole the show instead. Voeckler was bound to try in these kind of stages, which he then apparently did today. If Chavanel wasn't hurting, you could count on him too. Flecha, who got hit by a car is another usual breakaway suspect. Hopefully the rest day can give everyone a breather, so we can avoid even more chaos.

Indeed, thank God it wasn't a rocky mountain side. Both he and Flecha/Hoogerland could've quite easily been killed today...
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Wowee what the hell happened last night it was full on. Certaintly one of the more interesting tours i've seen in my life time. Also Keep it up Cadel loving your work.
MPH Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 If you are going to crash... try not to do it anywhere near a barbed-wire fence......
Wycombe Fox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 If you are going to crash... try not to do it anywhere near a barbed-wire fence...... OUCH!!!!!! That's bad.
Wymsey Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 You Basterd!!!! What a total prat the driver was for not looking in his mirror to see who's aside of him.
Amin Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 After being away all weekend, I just caught up with the three itv highlight programmes of the stages I missed and the whole state of affairs is just dissapointing and depressing. I can't believe Hoogerland managed to ride on with those injuries, what a stupid driver.
Jonezy Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 Wow, awesome work by the Lotto team. Tiring Cavendish on that last little climb and then that huge Greibel guy to finish it off. Impressive and very strange to see Cavendish lose such a man vs man sprint. Still. Coolest and toughest guy in the peloton is Hoogerland, what a hero!
shen Posted 12 July 2011 Posted 12 July 2011 So Kolobnev is the first one caught for doping this year. Yet another former Team CSC/Saxo Bank rider...

Yeah, I was actually quite shocked to see Cav lose a straight sprint.
Jonezy Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 After another HTC-Highroad/Cavendish show yesterday, we are finally at the mountains. Time to see, what the favorites are made of and I expect attacks. Contador needs to catch up, and the Schlecks really need a bigger gap to Evans and Contador before the time trial. Exciting.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 The tour effectively starts tonight going to be a long night but can't wait. Should finish at 230am up at 530am for work but reckon it will be worth it if Cadel can not conceed any ground.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 From a GC point of view there it wasn't the aggresive stage i thought it would be yet Contador still lost time. Frank Schlek was good but i think the likes of Cadel, Contador, Cunego and Basso were more worried about Andy which could be a big trap. Basso, Evans and Frank Schlek looked the most comfortable up the Mountain to me will be interested to see how Cadel and Contador tackle the double team of the Schlek boys. Also Voeckler was bloody good today but i reckon when the attacks come up the mountain which they will, i think he will drop.

Yeah, it's almost as if Andy is the decoy, but I doubt he wants to let Frank win unless he has some sort of hidden problem this year.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Yeah, it's almost as if Andy is the decoy, but I doubt he wants to let Frank win unless he has some sort of hidden problem this year. Andy looked really fatigued at the end that might have had something to do with why Frank kicked away instead. Cadel wasn't overly concerned as he belives he has him covered in the TT as long as the margin isn't too significant and it was only the first mai stage.
Jonezy Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Interesting stage yesterday. I too thought, the GC riders would be more aggressive, and the fact, that Voeckler, though extremely impressive, almost stayed with the favorites until the end, shows that it probably wasn't as hard as it could be. Maybe the others favorites will later regret not doing more damage to Contador, if this turns out to be his only 'bad' day. Evans looking like the biggest favorite right now with his time trial skills, so the Schlecks have to gain more time on him. Can't remember how strong Basso is in the time trial, but he looks strong as well, and he had the strongest helper as well, with that Polish dude taking an impressive lead on the last climb. Love this unpredictable Tour - Its wide open. Today could see a descent specialist take the glory, maybe one of the Sanchezs to take another win... Or more likely a breakaway win, maybe with Chavanel trying again. Hard to predict.

New England Fox Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Personally I'm not surprised that yesterdays stage wasn't the fireworks people were expecting. The last week of the tour is incredibly hard and there is no sense for all the contenders to go all out on the first of many hard stages to come.
shen Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 That was an awe-inspiring performance by Hushovd. Have sympathy for Roy, but that ride was worthy of a world champion.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Who cares its all about Cadel go boy, will boost the sport so so much in this country i can't wait. Robbie Mcewen, Baden Cooke and Stu O'grady lifted the profile of the sport a lot by Stu wearing the yellow and all three green jersey and stage winners. Cadel a few years ago had people who didn't care about the sport actually paying atention but if he can win it, i will not be able to contain my excitment so i'll be glued to the tv

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 And I imagine you'll quickly forget and ignore the Tour if he doesn't win, right? Not me but many will, Since Cadel got on the podium the tour actually gets publicity and people actually talk about the tour over here. If he wins it will be incredible and then Richie Porte will take over the mantle.
