JohnnyB Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Just found this on the Cunning Fox Website . Haven't heard of the guy before, but his current season scoring record looks good. 09.07.2011 Swedish top scorer in City link Leicester will next week be in Sweden for their pre-season preperations. The Swedish press is of course delighted to have two of their most profiled football names Sven Göran Eriksson and Tord Grip back home. Sven has not taken many teams to Sweden after he left for other Leagues and this was a great oppertunity for him, with a nice temprature in Stockholm during July. The Swedish media has also seen that Sven has been busy and signed a number of players and that he and his assistant Tord Grip has made no secret about their hope to land a few more bodies before the season starts. Sven talked about Owen Hargreaves the other day, but cooled down any hope of geting the former England international, since no contact were made. A new name came up yesterday when Grip had to give his views on the hottest player in Sweden right now, Mathias Renigie. Renigie is currently top of the goalscoring table in the Swedish league. He is currently with Gothenburg club Hacken. He has so far scored 13 goals in 15 games, and the 27 year old could be a target, according newspaper Expressen. Tord Grip has cooled down the link a bit, telling the Swedish newspaper that no official approach has been made and that Leicester are not looking for Swedish players to join, but of course not saying that Renigie is totally out of the picture.
Aidy3 Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Good record this season, but the Swedish League is a HUGE step down from the Championship.
FoxyPalace.com Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 http://www.imscouting.com/global-news-article/VIDEO-26-year-old-Mathias-Ranegie-bags-brace-for-BK-Hacken/10627/ This could be a good alternative to Maynard, save some cash too.
JohnnyB Posted 10 July 2011 Author Posted 10 July 2011 Good record this season, but the Swedish League is a HUGE step down from the Championship. I take your Point Aidy3, but everybody has to start somewhere and, in fairness Sweden have produced some pretty good strikers in the past. Names like Johan Elmander, Henrik Larsson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Freddy Ljungberg spring to mind. Oh.... and let's not forget .....Thomas Brolin! I'm sure most Leeds fans probably haven't!

Just watched the video - he looks a decent finisher. Got to be worth a look.
MikeyT Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 The article almost makes it sound like Tord Grip is now Sven's assistant at Leicester. Or is that just me thinking it?
wattolcfc Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 How much is he likely to cost? 500k - £1m probably knowing what swedish transfers are like.
Happy Fox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 500k - £1m probably knowing what swedish transfers are like. I think he would be worth the gamble
FoxyPalace.com Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 http://zu-za.soccermanager.com/player.php?pid=25948 Valuation
ACF Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 I'll be honest, I thought this was another made up player from Zambia.
Happy Fox Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Top goal scorer this season 13 goals in 15 appearances http://www.soccerway.com/national/sweden/allsvenskan/2011/regular-season/
shiv Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 The article almost makes it sound like Tord Grip is now Sven's assistant at Leicester. Or is that just me thinking it? I noticed that.
rico Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Good record this season, but the Swedish League is a HUGE step down from the Championship. Pontus Kamaark was too good for this league
artursteppe Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 To be honest 13 goals in 15 games would be a great record for a league one player, and probably get Brighton interested. Almost one a game in any league can't be bad. According to what I have read, he is about 6ft 6ins, now that's pretty tall, he'd make Matt Mills look small.
Joeb.lcfc Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Never heard of him but good scoring record so worth the risk in my opinion
Leicester_Loyal Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 Hes 1.98M tll (6ft 6 almost). Some ariel presence I think.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 10 July 2011 Posted 10 July 2011 I take your Point Aidy3, but everybody has to start somewhere and, in fairness Sweden have produced some pretty good strikers in the past. Getting away from his Leeds and Palace years as a fat get, the rest of Brolin's career when he was more of a smaller size, made him a phenomenal player
ScoutMan Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 Getting away from his Leeds and Palace years as a fat get, the rest of Brolin's career when he was more of a smaller size, made him a phenomenal player http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_7032837,00.html
Happy Fox Posted 11 July 2011 Posted 11 July 2011 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12876_7032837,00.html? Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson has played down reports he is interested in two Swedish players. The Swedish coach has been linked with Hacken hotshot Mathias Ranegie in his homeland, along with Helsingborgs IF striker Alexander Gerndt. But Eriksson has poured cold water on those rumours, despite admitting he is aware of the prolific strike pair. Ranegie is a tall target-man who is currently the Swedish league's top scorer with 14 goals from 16 games this season. The 27-year-old has won two caps for Sweden. Back-burner "That's not something for now," Eriksson told TT news agency. "I know who he is, and that he scores goals." Meanwhile, Gerndt is a right-sided forward who plays for league leaders Helsingborgs IF and has won six caps for Sweden. The 24-year-old was top scorer and player of the year in the Swedish league in 2010, scoring 20 goals before adding another six this term. "I saw quite a lot of him last year," Eriksson added. "He is a strong, skilful and pretty fast striker."
Sthlm Fox Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 I found this article at work today, basically it confirms what you've all said. Aftonbladet (Aftonbladet is similar to The Daily Mail och The Sun....) "Många klubbar följer honom noggrant och enligt Sportbladets källor är Red Bull Salzburg, Leicester, tre lag i Kina och ett i Hongkong väldigt intresserade av Ranégies tjänster. Något som spelaren själv bekräftar." (Translation: "Many clubs are tracking him and according to Sportbladet's [The tabloid's sportsection] sources Red Bull Salzburg, Leicester, tre Chinese teams and one team from Hongkong are interested in securing Ranégies services. Something that the player himself has confirmed.") Alexander Gerndt has signed for a Dutch side, by the way.
Garysbrokentoe Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 How good is he on FM? if with a decent team sign Khoumar Babucar on FM he is awesome and Martin Martinez as a 16yr old in Argentina!
