Why isn't Mills playing? :dunno:

RobTannerMerc

@deangoodsell minor toe injury. Nothing to worry about. A precaution. If it was a league game he would play

Sounds to me like 4-5-1 with Nugent on his own or possibly 4-3-3 :dunno:

Have we duplicated Andy King :whistle:lol

Well the 4-5-1/4-3-3 is generally interchangeable. The wingers will drop back into midfield at times but mostly be floating around the central striker I'd imagine. So basically like last year.

Very intrigued as to how the middle 3 will work. Loads of potential. Strong team, lacks the clinical, pacey striker to top it all off but I won't go there!

Mills what a waste of £5.5 million :(

No Kermorgant either means no win :(

And yep no Schlupp forget Konchesky, Schlupp should be playing left-back :(

Is it just me or is that starting to look like a very, very strong Championship starting 11? :D

Not bad is it. There's still more to come too.:D

Yeah I too reckon that 11 will be the starting 11 for the season, apart from obviously mills being in there too, and any new additions who may arrive between now and then. On paper though a strong looking 11. Will be a good test tonight.

I don't think it will be the starting 11 for the season, it's simply be a different 11 to what started the other night

Of course most of them will be starting, not least because we've just spent money on them, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's some changes, not just from people still to be signed, but there still could be room for people like Schlupp & even dyer and maybe a few others. It looks very short on pace to me.

What I'm still wondering is, whether this will just be a fitness match like the other night, or whether Sven will pick players in the right position for example I think he picked Schlup at LB so he could see him running more & really give him a good fitness workout whereas up front it might have only had a couple of sprints

It is although on paper it was probably stronger at the tail end of last season.

Interesting point, and something I've been thinking for a few days

player for player I do think we were stronger last season, but it's the team that counts so lets hope these guys and whoever else joins forms a better team

although saying that, Nugent will play others in better than Yakubu ever could so even if he'll potentially score a few less, the team may benefit, like-wise at the back, Bamba, Vitor & Mee were all good individually & someday may be great players but as a team they didn't always click. Hopefully Mills is fit soon so he can form a pre-season partnership with SSL.

and I get the feeling Danns will add a lot, our midfield generally escaped criticism last season, but there was something lacking, more noticeably when the opposition had the ball

So although the players may not be an overwhelming improvement, the team could be much better
