Exam Question. "The Missing Link"

Recommended Posts

Sven's policy appears to be to bring in players who have proved themselves at championship level in order to make a promotion push.

The club now seem to be looking for "the missing link", a 20 goal a season striker.

I wonder if on the long list of names is a Mr Billy Sharp now of Doncaster Rovers. This lad is approximately 25 years of age and has averaged a goal every other game at championship level for the past number of years.

This record has been achieved at clubs with a lot less creative talent than we now have at our disposal. He is also a name that doesn't seem to have been mentioned very much.

Is it possible that he could be "the missing link" to help the club achieve it's promotion push this season? Discuss

Doncaster's OS

Rovers Striker Billy Sharp will have an x-ray tomorrow to rule out a fracture of his leg.

Manager Sean O'Driscoll confirmed Sharp had had a scan on his ankle which revealed ligament damage.

"He had a scan this morning, there's obviously damage, and we're just waiting to see the specialist tomorrow to find out the full extent. He's got another x-ray abit higher up his leg tomorrow, to make sure there isn't a fracture, which the ankle scan would have missed."

His name has been mentioned before... Certainly by myself and lots of others... He seems injury prone and not just little niggles either. Good player, won't play enough.. Like owen

The OP missed the little detail that all players brought in have played in the PL or been at PL clubs during their careers. Fernandes hasn't got any Champo experience either. And Sharp, as far as I know, has never been at a Prem club.

Martin Keown works for the BBC now and he wasn't very good the first time here.

What's your point?

Thought he broke his leg on saturday?!

He hasn't. He has got damaged ligaments but Doncaster are hopeful he won't need an operation.

I don't understand how the title links in with the first post? Surely it should go "some say Billy Sharp is the answer to Sven's desire to attain a new striker with the capability to help propel Leicester's push for promotion. Discuss this proposition within 500 words" if it's supposed to be some sort of exam question?

At the moment it is just a question, it has nothing examy about it.

I tihnk Billy Sharp is a decent player, and he does score a fair amount of goals. But are these goals in poorer sides? For example, he joined Sheffield United and scored very few goals and that was in a good Sheffield United team. However, he scored a lot of goals at Scunthorpe and Doncaster who are both smaller and "poorer" teams than Leicester City.

This is the only worry about him.
