Is Sven deluded?

For me there is no problem with the quality of players, it is the quality of tactics which is costing. After seeing us scrape a victory against cov and being dominated by reading and an average bristol city team we must question the role of king sven. After playing extremeley poorly for 3 games do you think sven will realise that the way we play 4-3-3 doesnt work. Reading and bristol city both played 4-3-3 and they looked far superior to us, this is not a question of 'allowing the players time to bond'. so a message to Alan Young and many others of you on here if we play 4-3-3 the width must be created by wingers not by full backs. How was readings and Bristols width created? you guessed it by the wingers not fullbacks.

P.S. I thought nugent looked far superior to maynard tonight, maynard got 2 goals from 2 mistakes by fernandes and St. Ledger, he was also given unbelievable amount of space compared to nugent and is the reason he looked so good. Although his reaction at the end to me looked like he was a leicester player and not a bristol one.

we need a team e.g. norwich, swansea, blackpool and reading not 11 individuals

We've had a bad start, but we've got to keep faith in Sven. maybe his tactics haven't been the best so far, but we all know he is a quality manager so i'm sure he'll turn it around. Think they just need a little more time on the pitch together. As for Maynard, didn't see the game but sounded sharp and got 2, even if they were mistakes a good striker will make the most of mistakes. Maynard and Nugent up front would be a dream come true.

Been syaing this since last December.

Tactically Sven is not the best, teams knwo how to play against us and we have no plan B. He doesnt know his best team and certainly doesnt know what formation is the best to use.

Peopel keep saying we need a striker but we need wingers first, least we actually have some strikers, they might not be the ebst but least we have some. Only Dyer is a natural wide player.

I think it is very easy for all of us to say 4-4-2 over the preferred 4-3-3 at the moment. That is because we aren't getting the results we want. Sven has clearly assembled the personnel for 4-3-3 so it will be a while before rethink yet.

I think we need to settle a bit and maybe our expectations drop a little. I think that the team will settle down and we will get stronger.

No need to stress, we have a great squad and undoubtedly have money set aside for a striker. It's a good position to be in.

Don't think he is deluded, he just hasn't done anything for ten years. Football has changed since then. He might have George Graham syndrome.

and its alright saying 4-4-2 but we dont have a single right winger!!

Top post, agree with what you say here! question is will Sven realise the error in his way`s and revert to 4-4-2?

i dont know what the best formation to use is pal, 4-3-3 is good if you have the players to fit it, quite simply we dont!

Ive been saying this, but some people said to me "we got Dyer and Vassell and Gallagher on the wings were fine!" Wrong, my first priority if I was Sven was to get a winger, A decent one, take the man on cross the ball in the box etc. Then get a striker, For me the tactics are wrong wrong and wrong! Nugent would be good with a strong strike partner. Maynard  Back to reality......Howard would be perfect for NUGGET!

as for saying Sven is a quality manager, is he? Never done anything respectable at club level without a budget. not like Martin o'neill, Nigel Pearson, Paul Lambert ETC... obviously doesnt look like he has a great relationship with the players as all conversation is done through fazackerley and Stowell. He is not exactly one for bringing unknown players through either so his coaching ability can also come into question.

FFS Sven stop sitting on your ass and get out of your seat, managers of cov, reading and bristol stood in their technical area for 90 minutes you can do it to, whats up.... old age? (lack of passion?)

Havent you heard? He won loads at Lazio and some other clubs years and years ago, before the turn of the century so he must be good!

Do you see Alex Ferguson always ranting on the touchline? Different managers have different styles.

He had the largest budget in Serie A while at Lazio and had a ton of quality players. All managers can get lucky at times , Peter Taylor has had a few decent jobs and Mcclaren won the dutch league.

We really need a Malky Mackay, Brendan Rogers, Paul Lambert or Brian Mcdermott type of manger, one that knows modern football and is passionate (knows where the technical area is)!!!

He gives players abuse when he needs to!

Yes but alot of the time it is in the dressing room ( hairdryer and all that) which im sure is where Sven does it, you only have to look at what giving them a public bollocking does with Phil Brown at Hull.

Just to clarify I was being sarcastic and agree with you. He has done nothing and for me is nothing but a conman. Has this reputation but in reality has done nothing.

AS said in another thread, I'd take someone like Billy Davies over Sven, tried and tested and will guarantee you a hard working organised team who will be up there at the end of the season.

Although we will get slaughtered Billy Davies is a good shout, got a very good forest team assembled for a relativeley small price, we need a young manager who is determined to become successful and make a name for himself not a hasbeen who has relativeley little to prove.

For me this is the best post of the night... I applaud you sir and now I'm off to bed to dream of who else svennis can think of signing.. If the argument of many on here us that it takes time to gel I tell you what then... Let's sign some more! We must have been linked with every fooker going..

Massive overreactions a go go.

massive overreactions? any fan can see that the only time we have competed in our opening 4 games (including cup) is when we played the diamond 4-4-2. Why can sven not see that? This formation has to be used at forest as there was no difference from tonight and the reading game. Except we were against a weaker bristol city side. (with no defenders) Even Nugents shot should have been saved!

My problem with Sven isnt his lack of shouting/screaming. Diff managers have diff ways of working.

Its the total lack of planning that appears to have gone into building a team for this season, we are 3 games in and still dont even the players we need that he should of been sorting out in June. How we can be sat here now still with only one first choice striker and no wingers to fit into the system he wants to play.

It's absolutely shocking.

Yes fair point, really I was just trying to put the point across that just beacause a manager does not show PASHUUUUUN on the touchline it does not make them a bad manager,
