@mrtonycox Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 Not much time left today to sign striker for the weekend. The news and rumours seem to suggest would happen today in time for tomorrow's game vs Southampton. Would we want to put someone straight in the squad tomorrow that's not even unpacked his suitcase yet.??!!!
davieG Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 Posted in the 'Striker by Saturday' topic. Merc Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is doubtful he will bring in a new striker by the weekend. Football operations director Andrew Neville indicated on Monday that the player could be in place by tomorrow. "Something will have to happen very quickly, but I wouldn't think before Saturday," said Eriksson. "I am not that optimistic, but the work is going on silently." The Mercury understands City are still weighing up a fourth bid for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard, which could, with add-ons, be around the £6million mark. But a source close to the West Country club said no formal offer had yet been received by the Robins. Although the transfer window closes at midnight on Wednesday, Eriksson said City do not have to take any desperate measures to land their man. "I don't think we should be desperately thinking that we need a new striker, but if it happens I will be happy as it means the squad is stronger," he said. "I think our squad is good, as we showed for more than an hour at Nottingham Forest and then winning in the Carling Cup after making 10 changes."

@mrtonycox Posted 26 August 2011 Author Posted 26 August 2011 True, 1 bag for clothes and boots and the other bag ready for cash.??
Mack Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 Brizzle can smell Sven's desperation, and probably see hanging out a few days more as a good tactic to squeeze more money out of us.
SMX11 Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 Just be patient ffs, if Maynard or another striker does come in today (not likely) he certainly wouldn't play tomorrow.
Simmo86 Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 You have to be registered by 12pm on the Friday to play at the weekend anyway Just have some patience!
Guest MattP Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 I'm not saying anything anymore. I was moaning all the way through July about our lack of buying a striker and was told I was a moaner and I should just leave Sven as he knows what he doing and he will get what he wants. I hope he does otherwise a lot of people are going to look very daft.
Fox You Forest Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 I hope he does otherwise a lot of people are going to look very daft. Not you though, you've made sure of that.

gazfox9 Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 I'm not overly bothered if we don't sign anyone before deadline day. Its blatently obvious we need another 1/2 strikers, and if we don't sign them on perminants I'm pretty sure Sven will have some loans up his sleeve.

somebum Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 The thing is, even if we get this Maynard guy, what will be the next excuse?

Jollie Posted 26 August 2011 Posted 26 August 2011 I dont think I'd be going out on a limb by saying we will not sign Nicky Maynard or anybody else in time for the Soton game. Nugent and Darius are fit, Fernandes and Dannzy are getting up to speed, Mr Angry is back in goal...chill out, enjoy your friday night. Worry about it all again after the game.
