Konchesky 7 - Better

Wellens 6

Fernandes 3

Abe 6

King 4

Beckford 4

About this for me (also from TV) though I'd give Kasper a 7, cos his postioning and ownership of the box was excellent. Don't worry under the high ball the way I have done with th last few City keepers.

Kasper - Did what he had to. 7

Peltier - Got forward well, defended well. He's looking as close to Naughton as we could've got. Under a million too? Absolute steal. 8

Mills - Solid. Passing was better too today. 8 (My MOTM)

Bamba - Solid also, he's an absolute beast. 8

Konchesky - Not bad but very poor when he gifted McNaughton a free run down the right. 6

Wellens - Poor crossing. Poor defensively, passing was generally poor. 4

Abe - Some good touches but offered too little. 5

Fernandes - Almost forgot he was playing. 5

King - Created some half decent chances for himself but took them terribly. Seen better. 6

Vassell - A lot of good play, but absolutely no end product. 7

Beckford - Totally ineffective. Work ethic is no better than the Yak's. 4

Subs; Johnson 7, Schlupp 6.

Online stream:

Kasper: 7. Untroubled, really. Took a couple of high crosses well and quick off his line.

Peltier: 7.5. Handful in the air, highly unlucky not to score, defended well (caught out of position a couple of times after bombing forward, mind) and quality going forward. Great performance.

Mills: 8. Defensive rock. Headed absolutely everything away, rarely caught out of position and made some great challenges, the most notable being a goal-saving block in the 2nd half. Loved his commando roll as well, beautiful execution. Better distribution as well. Easily his best game for us.

Bamba: 7. Again, won everything in the air, almost got into trouble bringing the ball down at times but then that's him. Loved his rage in the 2nd half. Throwing Earnshaw to the ground was a personal highlight.

Konchesky: 6. Slightly harsh, but caught out of position quite often, often got embarrassed by McNaughton, gave possession away far too cheaply at times. Tried to get forward well and unlucky not to score with his freekick.

Abe: 6. Lots of industry and covered a lot of ground, but as with the majority of our midfield it just didn't happen for him today. At least tried to make things work.

King: 6.5. As with Abe, covered a lot of ground, and most of what we did well going forward involved him. Got into 2 goalscoring positions in the game, could and probably should've done better with them, as I'm sure he would've on another day. Would've had a penalty if he'd gone to ground before toe-poking the ball over. Too honest.

Fernandes: 5. Worst I've seen him for us, seemed a spectator to everything and was quite off the pace. If I'm honest, he looked a little tired and like he could do with a game or 2 out the side.

Wellens: 3. Just why? Seriously useless today. Should've been hauled off at half-time for Johnson or Danns. Pointless performance.

Beckford: 3. As with Wellens, did very little. Was almost not worth having him on the pitch, as he seemed too interested in moaning about everything and looking around to actually use his pace to frighten Cardiff's defence. Doesn't seem to understand the game of any of our players yet.

Vassell: 6.5. Handful for their defence; they were terrified of his pace and he worked extremely hard for the team. Can't finish for toffee, but satisfied with his display. Needs more composure infront of goal - definitely could've either taken a touch or played in Schlupp before wildly volleying a good chance over.

Subs:

Schlupp: 5. Has pace to burn but didn't really use it after giving away a freekick the first time he tried. Game did to him what it did to Fernandes - bypassed him and made him look quite poor.

Johnson: 7. Superb little cameo, excited for him hitting full fitness. Drove at players, looked to commit defenders and bring others in around him. Could be the spark we need to take us to the next level going forward. Promising.

Spot on. Says everything I would've and more.

I know it's personal opinion but in what world does Fernandes score 3 less than Wellens today?!

Worst player on the pitch for us by a country mile, take your bum-boy glasses off.

Fernandes was poor, worse player for me. The game passed him by. Alot of people don't critisize him but he has only played well against Coventry and Forest (first half) in my opinion. I'd like to see Johnson play instead of him.

I can critisize Wellens when I think he is poor, like I did in the Barnsley match ratings. But I don't think he was as bad as what everyone is making out. He gave the ball away about 5 times during the whole game (I'd like to see some stats) and ok, didn't have much of an impact, but neither did half of the team. And one of the chances we did create came through Wellens.

Schmeichel 7 - His concentration and composure were top notch, he was barely troubled and yet he made every single decision he had to make spot on.

Peltier 7 - Very impressive. Marauding down the wing, solid aerially, positionally and in the tackle. He has consistently played better than Pantsil and deserves to be first choice.

Mills 8.5 - A real stand-out display from Mills. He's exceptional in backs-to-the-wall situations. He was colossal in the air yesterday, blocked everything Cardiff threw at him and was making an obvious and concerted effort not to ping the ball out of play every time he got it. That's commendable, it's obviously a weakness of his but he's clearly trying to improve it whilst not diminishing the rest of his game. Well done Matt, MOTM.

Bamba 7 - Another solid display, not quite as impressive as Mills but he's been a real asset this season. Bullied Earnshaw and then Gestede out of the game.

Konchesky 6.5 - Some sloppy play at times but he's pretty solid and willing going forward, looked in good shape.

Wellens 4 - First half he was decent but not spectacular. He was appalling in the second half. He arguably takes up the most intelligent positions from midfield but his touch and passing were terrible and he kept gifting them the ball.

Abe 5.5 - Decent from Abe, he tracked back very well for most of the game. We completely conceded the midfield battle to them after controlling it early on, and only took it back once Cardiff were exhausted, and Abe was powerless to augment the situation.

Fernandes 4.5 - Quiet first half. Quiet second half. Only time I noticed him it was for his errors not his positives. The worst I've seen him play, but the midfield has to take responsibility as a collective.

King 6 - Gains a mark or two for being in the right place to get some shots off at goal, but his accuracy left much to be desired. I think he will be disappointed not to have even tested the keeper with his endeavours and it showed in his face. Otherwise pretty quiet as Cardiff ran the show for 30 minutes either side of half time. I'm not convinced playing behind the striker suits him.

Vassell 5 - Pretty bad to be honest. His touch was really letting him down all game long and when he did manage to bring the ball under control he ran into Cardiff's fairly solid backline. Suffered from our midfield's lack of authority.

Beckford 4.5 - No service, not a great deal of effort. I think it has to be accepted that he isn't going to be the type to conjure things up on his own, so he will need much better support in the future.

Subs:

Schlupp 6 - Looked marginally more effective than Beckford, but was pretty well marshalled by the Cardiff defence.

Johnson 6.5 - Can go past a man and knock a ball about can't he? Will probably be a creative force, but we need to be careful and edge him back in slowly. I noticed that having made his first good run and eventually being dispossessed, he seemed a little less confident and many of his passes when sideways. Needs to be given time to regain the fitness and confidence that made him such a precocious talent.

I was at the game and although I was hanging and lethargic I still managed to see how gash Wellens was. Worst player on the pitch for us.
