TheStig Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 So the long list of Leicester managers continues...what a joke. Can somebody please tell me what sacking Sven will achieve? He had assembled a squad that was beginning to gel/take shape and managed some great results including beating some of the league's strongest sides such as Southampton, Brighton and Derby. If we had won against Millwall we would have been in the top three. Now we have to find a new manager who needs to hit the ground running with a squad they didn't put together. What a joke. The owners have messed up catastrophically with this decision. Agree were a joke - but Sven basically had the cash he needed to get the best possible players - in 12 months and 3 weeks he has not managed anything with his own squad! Surely the time had come. We have been consistently inconsistent and that is down to manager and his motivation - or lack of - of his team.
Leicester Lass Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Does anyone know when the club will be making an announcement There is an announcement on the Official Site now.
whoareyaaa Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 When do you think they will have the new man in the hot seat? any ideas has the club said when they expect an appoiment to be made?

Surely the time had come. We have been consistently inconsistent and that is down to manager and his motivation - or lack of - of his team. Sven has been here for over a year and for the first 6 months of that year he was picking up the pieces from Sousa and had to rely upon the transfer market to form a squad in the 2010/11 season. I agree over the Summer he was given pretty much everything he asked for and only then did he create the squad he wanted. However it is only OCTOBER and he has been sacked even though we are a couple of points from the top. Forget motivation/organisation just look at the clean sheets and 2 loses in 10 games.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Strikes me that there are two distinct paths we can go down (order of preference for me, some may not necessarily be realistic): "Names" 1) Carlo Ancelotti - has indicated that he is prepared to drop down to the Championship (or at least did when the West Ham job was open) to stay in England 2) Rafa Benitez - class act, unlikely 3) Martin O'Neill - the return of the King? 4) Mark Hughes - plays good, practical football and has picked up Sven's leftovers before 5) Roberto Di Matteo - good record and arguably straddles both categories. Football league experience 1) Lee Clark 2) Alan Curbishley 3) Sean O'Driscoll 4) Chris Powell 5) Dave Jones I think a lot of the "names" could be persuaded by an enormous promotion bonus, even the likes of Ancelotti and Benitez. Hughes loves the wonga. edit: I'd also be tempted by McClaren, as long as he had a director of football type working with him. For the record, as far as I know the Thais don't even really have a shortlist at the moment, or so I've been told.

I admit, i am glad Sven has gone and personally never rated him. was there any need to buy a complete new team? and play a formation that none of the players could adapt too. He panic bought on the last day of the transfer market paying well over the odds for a player that couldnt get first team games with Everton. And as for the repeated quotes of wanting Beckham !!!! WHY ?? Hopefully the next manager has experience with the Championship and doesnt start splashing out millions on Prima-donnas who think they are too big for the club..........Ancelotti................NOOOOOO
bluebeau Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 As some posters & Sky Sports have already said, the clubs owners must already have someone lined up for the job. This was a huge decision to sack Sven, so imo also, someone will be in place before our next game. The overwhelming fans choice would be MON, & usually the bookies get things correct, so as he is the firm favourite, I hope they will be proved right. I personally am sad at the news of Svens sacking though. I liked the guy & I think he would have got us into the play offs at least. We are only 2 points of 6th place. I'd like to say, well done to the players for getting rid of the guy that put his faith in them. They know who they are & so do we, they should be ashamed of themselves, especially Beckford. He doesn't look as if he is in the slightest bit interested in playing for City. He's not fit to clean the boots of such as Nugent, Schlupp, Schmeichel, Peltier, Bamba, they at least look to be committed to the cause. Also Kingy, WTF is he pissing about at? I wouldn't have known he was on the pitch on Saturday. If we ordinary mortals did our job like he has done lately, we would be in posession of our UB40 by now! If we do appoint MON (please God ), then they had better look out, 'cos he won't stand for these idle sods drawing their fat salaries, unless they deserve their place in the team. If we don't get MON, then I would love to get the guy that we should have gone for ages ago, love him or hate him, Neil Warnock will get his teams out of the Championship. I like him, he is a character & tells it as it is. Finally, sad as I am to lose Sven, the Thais are no mugs & imo they know what they are doing. In Sven I trustED!
astoriafox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Nigel Pearson any day! We were moving in the right direction without spending money. It all went wrong when he left (got pushed out). Yeah football may not have been great at times but look at Tony Pulis and Stoke and how he has developed a team and a club with limited resources and built organically, step by step. Would you swap positions right them right now? I ceratinly would!
tewkesbury-fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Disappointed Svens gone would have liked him to have brought in some extra experience in relation to the coaching backroom staff, bet we end up with Mclaren
Donatello Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Outrageous decision to sack Sven - I would put all my money on there being no replacement in mind - a rash, silly move. History has proved that sacking managers simply postpones success, the Roy Keane at sunderland situations where a season is turned around at such speed are very rare and unlikely - success takes time. Unlike the premiership you cannot take a foreign manager doing well abroad and have great success - it is a very difficult league one which requires knowing inside/out - which is why Neil Warnock does well! Is O'Neill romantic enough to come back? I wouldn't mind Chris Powell, personally I think he was a huge loss, and we lacked that motivator role that he gave - if you ever watched him, Fazackerley was quiet and seemed to do little during matches. I said all pre season we needed a creative wide player which is exactly what we've missed - I don't have the qualifications but I could easily solve the problems on the field.

Wycombe Fox Posted 25 October 2011 Posted 25 October 2011 Great, just what I need. A day constantly checking on here to see if a press conference has been called to announce a new manager. Another photoshoot with a smiling owner flanked by a smiling new manager holding a City scarf aloft. FFS
