They would - I worked for Hills for 4 years and took bigger bets than that. It does take a long time for those bets to be authorised though as I'm sure u can imagine.

Biggest bet I ever took was for £200k and guess what it was.....................................France to beat Senegal at the 2002 World Cup! Some clever fooker thought he'd make a quick £20k at some stupid odds.

It sounds like a load of bollocks but I swear on my life that's true. Me and the other lads on the phones were pissing ourselves when they lost.

wow 200k? biggest ive took so far after 2 years is 6k.

it was on liverpool to beat norwich on saturday.

where you got that from?

i worked for coral and i know the max payout is bigger than that!

but coral will limit a reality market to £25 max stake.

yea i didnt think of that part, just tried on skybet and

mon @ 1/2 limits it to £500 online

roy keane @160/1 is £20 limit..

I don't think this is saying much.

He opened today at 10/3 the largest price. This in itself is not an indicator. This is because when they compile the price they know that O'Neill will be fancied by a number of people because of his history. They then put the price short because they expect money to be put on. They also know that where a price is low it encourages people to put money on because it appears to be the 'good thing.'

It can be argued that for a price to drop to odds on at 1/2 (0.5) or 8/15 (0.53) it should be noticed. There would have to be a serious amount of money to shorten a price up that much. The shorter the price, the more money has to be put on. e.g 20/1 has £100 to give a liability of £2000. To get the same liability at 1/1 you need £2k put on.

However, these type of markets are notoriously policed by bookies who do not want to be caught out. It is not a major market and so would therefore not have a dedicated odds compiler monitoring it. To deal with this they have restrictions on bets and monitor bets being put on. So I would therefore argue that there wouldn't have to be a lot of money put on for them to drop the price.

As to the overnight no price. This is fairly common. As someone else has said above - they need someone to be in the office.

You work for Hills as well? I worked at the main call centre in Leeds when I was a tax-dodger. That bet was the biggest I ever took by a mile, used to take quite a few around the £10-20k mark though.

most of online is automated now and the "office" will be open overnight thanks to head office workers manning customer services.

also 10/3 when he opened? best i spotted was 11/8 on hills about 5 minutes after sven was booted. so either major money moved it from 3.3 to 1.375 in 10 minutes or someone booted a false price out.

When I was a tax dodger I once took £4k in a Totesport shop on Man Utd and a few other odds on teams to go past the Champs league group stages. They did.

That was by far the largest I ever took. Especially as I ended up working in Moss Side. 1pew Union Jacks raas claht....

BBC Radio Leicester before it was 'confirmed' said that they had news coming from London of one of the owners telling a friend that Sven was going. At the same time they also gave the odds. Also if you click on the name you get a history of the prices.

No but Mr Claridge was a customer. As was Mr Owen, Mr Greaves, Mr Rush - these guys bet some serious currency believe me!

Apparently he used to stuff cash in his socks. Thats what a friend of mine said - its in his autobiography, or and interview he did.

Never had to a Liverpool RTC thank god.

I did have to settle some weird bets though. It was something I could do quite well so I never had a problem.

Just had to google it.

9 selections combined in 2 Patents (selections 1,2,3 and 7,8,9) 1 Round Robin (selection 4,5,6), 2 Yankees (selections 1,2,3,4 and 6,7,8,9) + Accumulator (7 + 7 + 10 + 11 + 11 + 1 = 47 bets).

I don't think I did. I think I would have enjoyed doing it....

One of the worst ones was a guy who put on a slip either 16, 25, or 36 squares. 16 squares was a series of lucky 15s, 25 lucky 31, 36 lucky 63.

Rows, columns, and the two diagonals.

It sounds easy - but try translating the bastard in the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon with idiots running up on the off.

especially with them william hill tills. we used to have someone at coral who did correct score 1-0 2-0 0-1 0-1 0-0 1-1 £10 perms of 5 games.

8 bets used to take us about the same in hours to translate. lot of money if he lost but if he got it in..you were visiting the bank.

Back to MON, this article will have escaped most people's notice 12 days ago but seems somewhat relevant now.

Martin O'Neill has ruled himself out of contention for the Northern Ireland manager's job.

The former Aston Villa and Celtic boss had been linked to the post after Nigel Worthington quit following Tuesday's 3-0 defeat by Italy.

O'Neill told BBC Radio Ulster he wanted to return to club management in the near future.

Shamrock Rovers boss Michael O'Neill, ex-QPR manager Jim Magilton and Iain Dowie have been linked with the job.

Martin O'Neill, a former Northern Ireland captain, has not been involved in management since resigning as Aston Villa manager in August 2010.

The former Nottingham Forest star was capped 64 times for his country between 1971 and 1984.

O'Neill, 59, said he had not been approached by the Irish Football Association.

He added that he would not dismiss the possibility of accepting the Northern Ireland manager's job at a later stage in his career.
