danny. Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 http://www.lcfc.com/page/Hospitality/0,,10274~2495303,00.html anyone eaten at fusions before? I went to the restaurant that was at filbert street and that was really good quality, anyone know if this is as good? If so seems a v. good deal
Wymsey Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 1st time round = Had a roast and the gravy was very subdued and the meat was cold, leading to a complaint about the cooking and ordered the chef in saying it's not value for money. 2nd time round = Waited over a hour for our starters. When we asked when it was coming, the waitress said 'oops, forgot to give the note to the chef...' Lead to complaints and we had a burger outside instead.

Ha, I've never heard of subdued gravy before was it quiet, inhibited or repressed? I'm guessing you mean lacking in tone or weak. Just struck me as funny.
danny. Posted 27 October 2011 Author Posted 27 October 2011 shame, the filbert street restaurant was excellent, probably better than anywhere we currently have in Leicester - which seems a hugely disappointing city in terms of quality places to eat. anyone else have any feedback? as I don't really believe anything wymeswold fox says as most stuff on here I think he makes up.
Houdini Logic Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Eaten there a couple of times and food was good, though it was Vege food
absolutelegend Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Eaten there twice and both times v.good. Made a nice change as a place to go and eat.
Vlad the Fox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 I've not been for a couple of years but always had good meals there and would quite happily go back. If you go let us know how it was was.
acooling08 Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Had a meal at the KP once, it was nice enough but overpriced as you'd expect. Service was fine though, no complaints on that.
danny. Posted 27 October 2011 Author Posted 27 October 2011 Think I'll give this a go then, it works out at £10 for the food as tickets there are normally £55 so not too bad even if it's mediocre

Mack Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Would this not be in one of the halls rather than Fusions? Fusions has looked closed for ages.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 To be honest I'd have a wank in Wymeswold's gravy just to make it agitated rather than subdued.

There are some excellent restraunts in and around leicester: San Carlo's The French Bistro next to San Carlo (cant remember name) Champagne Bar restraunt. Staff of Life Shimla Pinks Hell even pizza express is better than the filbert street restraunt.

Only been to San Carlo's once and it was awful, burnt bruscetta, overcooked crab, awful service etc Case above champagne bar is lovely though I agree! Never tried Staff of Life so will give it a go, thanks

Leicester is actually really quite a good city for food. If it wasn't 2am and I wasn't just keeping myself away from lying sleeplessly in bed then I'd go into more detail. Only been to San Carlo's once and it was awful, burnt bruscetta, overcooked crab, awful service etc Very, very surprised. San Carlo is generally a spectacular restaurant, never really had anything less than a top-notch experience...

Yea, I had heard great things about San Carlo so was expecting really good things, but it was worse than a £3 cafe in terms of quality and service when I went, and was £100 for 2 (inc. a £25 wine) so was sorely disappointed. Recently had a poor meal at the Boot Room also for not much under than in cost/head which also came highly rated. Would be interested in any other recommendations when you are on next and it's not 2am. Will have to give San Carlo another try in the future.
Vlad the Fox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Must admit I've been San Carlos a few times and gave up on it. Poor and overcooked food, awful service by surly waiters and to take the piss further they put a service charge on your bill.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I ate there for my fortieth birthday The food was ok, nothing to write home about. I'm not sure about 'subdued' gravy but the roast tatties looked very miserable and the wine had a right strop on! As for the tarte a tin.. Well that looked like it was gonna hang itself at any minute!

Can't beat the 'staff of life' at Mowsley just a bit further on from fleckney... Look at the website mate... Nom Nom...

Dr The Singh Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 exactly what I experienced - glad it's not just me then! My mate got chukked out of there, cus the waiters kept leering on his girlfriend, she complained to him, he told the waiter to back off politely and then was told to leave!!
