Kitchandro Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 If it's anyone other than Di Matteo, Davies or Hughes, I can't realistically see myself being very pleased.
topharry123 Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Steve McClaren Billy Davies Rafa Benitez Really? You wouldn't want someone who is the only manager in the last 10 years to win la liga without managing Madrid or Barcelona, not once but twice? And someone that won the champions league with a team that wasn't even on paper a top 8 team let alone the best in Europe? He may have bombed a little at Inter, but still quality manager. Look at his finishes with Liverpool as well: 5, 3, 3, 4, 2,7. Ok the 7 was not the best, but every other year he had them right up there, including the year he was close to the title. Out of curiosity what is the reason for not wanting him at the club? I'm not saying you're wrong, but i'm curious as to why you wouldn't want someone like him in charge of the club?

This sounds similar to the pro-Sven arguments, and I think his appointment would be a similar one to Sven. Personally I think Benitez is a clown in some ways, his signings are often terrible, he can't handle pressure and comes out with the same old excuses every time. He did brilliantly in Spain but I think the champions league win with Liverpool was a bit of a fluke, overall he didn't do a great job there, not a bad one but not great. I don't want someone on a downward spiral, I want someone with recent success and a track record preferably in this league.
Guest MattP Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Rafa did well in Spain, but don't kid yourself into thinking he turned over squads similar to what Barca and Real have now.

I bet RedHux is pishing himself along with all the other teams fans reading this bollox.... I wasn't saying or implying in any way that he would come to Leicester (although many people would have said the same abut Sven at one point). The post is titled who you wouldn't want, people said Rafa and I asked why. there's no realism to this thread purely just speculation about who we would not want out of anyone out there. Fair points about Rafa. I disagree and would like him here if the opportunity ever arose but the points i've read do make a degree of sense to me with the exception of the ones about the squad depth of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barca and Madrid had much better squads on paper than Valencia, try De Boer, Kluivert, Reizeger, Saviola, Cocu, Rivaldo, Overmars, Xavi, Puyol at Barcelona, to Casillas, Salgado, Roberto Carlos, Hierro, Makalele, Zidane, figo, Morientes, Raul of Real Madrid to the likes of players such as Carboni, Carew, Ayala etc for Valencia that i've never heard of, so to say that they're not the teams they are now doesn't really cut it as they quite clearly were, and Valencia still had a way poorer squad on paper ! So to win the title in that year was an incredible achievement.
Finchy Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Just curious about Billy Davies. For me, there are far too many people mentioning his name in this thread. Do you lot not want him because he's ex-Forest and Derby or because you don't think he's good enough? That Forest team in 09/10 season was absolutely superb, seriously hated them because they didn't stop winning. If that season was just a normal Championship season without that ridiculous Newcastle team, they would have gone up. They were also fantastic at times last season. Do people not think he could do a job?
Corky Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Billy Davies I reckon we'd set up a Transfer Acquisitions Committee here, just to make William feel nostalgic. And it's time he went to the biggest club in the East Midlands (well the one that won the third tier in recent memory)
Guest MattP Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 You seriously comparing that Barca side that finished 14th to the one now??? Some great players yes, great team no. Reziger and Saviola arenf fit to lace the current crops boots. Only Cocu, Rivaldo and Luis Enrique out of that lot would get near the side now.

markbsac Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 whoever it is if they aint got us in the prem within 24 hours of signing ..it will be classed as a total fail ....
Master Fox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Diego Maradona Diagree with that one. Imagine him in Leicester going out coked up with 10 hookers on his arm. It would be ****ing brillaint.

Do people not think he could do a job? Agreed, i think people don't want him for reasons other than what he brings as a manager. I know he had a mare in the Prem but he only had 14 games so those saying Sven was sacked too early and he had 13. Plus they were just not ready for the Premiership, if anything he took them up too soon. I think people forget that Forest were punching above their weight with him as well, they haven't looked much good this season and they were nearly relegated when they appointed him. Still Di Matteo for me but Davies second choice.

I'd go for Di Matteo too, but there's nothing to suggest that is likely sadly.
