LcfcBoy09 Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 He was the first manager Randy Lerner appointed, so MON worked for him for the entirety of his time at Villa Park. but in the end he left because he didnt agree with theway foreigners ran the club. all im saying is, fans are getting there hopes up wanting MON when the chances of getting him are slim.
PAULCFC Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Here's the thing with Billy, it's all about brand Billy. He'll almost certainly get you promoted but there will be a lot of away draws, a lot of time wasting and a whole lot of grinding out points. This is something a lot of Forest fans forget preferring to focus on the short period of time we were frankly unstoppable. He will spend a fortune and still claim to not have the full support of the clubs money men. That season we were nearly relegated we'd brought in a sack load of loans to keep us up and then bought most of them and more for the following season spending around 10m in the process and still he whined about needing "..one or two stellar signings". Was he in charge either last season or the season before at ours, when the side took timewasting to a whole new level......if so no thanks.
Tubby Jess Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 surely the very worst 2 managers in world football would be Avram Grant and Glen Roader, followed closely by Souness, and may be throw Wise in there
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 surely the very worst 2 managers in world football would be Avram Grant and Glen Roader, followed closely by Souness, and may be throw Wise in there would you really want to see 'Mr Toad' week-in, week-out?
RedHux Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 He's managed one of them to promotion and the other one to the play offs twice in two years on a shoestring. As someone else rightly pointed out, if it weren't for Newcastle that season he'd have got them up automatically. It's a good job Forest supporters didn't turn round in the 70s and say they didn't want that Clough bloke because he'd managed Derby (not comparing the two managers but the principle's the same). And also wouldn't it be great for him to get us up, not them and stick a V up at the red side of the Trent? It was far from a shoestring. Spent over 10m in his first pre-season. Spent a couple of million after that and brought in some hugely expensive loans, Shorey, Kris Boyd ( we apparently covered all his wages), Some ropey LB with no hair... He's a good manager but it's a myth he managed it on bugger all.

RedHux Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Yep, He's good and would, IMO, get you promoted. If his style of defence first would be of any use in the prem though is anybody's guess.
accessory Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 All those wanting Billy Davies should read this article and ask whether an ego this large (far outstripping his actual achievements as a manager) is likely to get on with our owners. When he was at Derby, where his collection of hoofers, hackers and cloggers earned promotion but were badly found out in the top flight, he emerged as the Scottish equivalent of Neil Warnock. Nothing he did at Forest led me to change that view. Forest were particularly dire in both of their last two visits to Leicester. Who else should have their applications consigned straight to the bin? There's a frighteningly long list of current out-of-work managers still seeking employment on the LMA website: Gary Ablett Carlo Ancelotti Ossie Ardiles John Barnes MBE John Beck Rafael Benitez Kevin Blackwell Aidy Boothroyd Paul Bracewell Ian Branfoot Ian Brightwell Paul Brush Alan Buckley George Burley Mark Cooper Neale Cooper Simon Davey John Deehan Kevin Dillon Ian Dowie Martin Foyle Jim Gannon Dean Glover Avram Grant Ruud Gullit Bryan Gunn Mick Harford Glenn Hoddle David Hodgson John Hollins MBE Gerard Houllier OBE Paul Ince Peter Jackson Dave Jones Joe Kinnear Brian Laws Colin Lee Brian Little Mel Machin Gary McAllister MBE Steve McClaren Sammy McIlroy Charlie McParland Keith Millen Richard Money Ronnie Moore Jimmy Mullen Mike Newell Sean O'Driscoll David O'Leary Tony Parkes Dave Penney Kevin Ratcliffe Peter Reid Lee Richardson Andy Ritchie Mark Robins Bryan Robson OBE Graham Rodger Glenn Roeder Leroy Rosenior Ian Sampson John Schofield Paul Simpson Dennis Smith Graeme Souness Gordon Strachan OBE Chris Sutton Stan Ternent Steve Thompson Gudjon Thordarson Steve Tilson Colin Todd Chris Turner Gianluca Vialli Ray Wilkins MBE Geraint Williams Dennis Wise (he wouldn't dare apply, would he?) I'm sorry but that Forest team was excellent, no two ways about that. God knows why they choked in the play-offs twice though.
RedHux Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Forest were particularly dire in both of their last two visits to Leicester. This is true. Apart from one unbeaten spell of a good long while (lots of 1-1 and 0-0s) we were consistently poor away. Always set up not to lose rather then to win. Also if we went behind we were mostly knackered as anyone at the Walkers (as was) the last time would testify to. It was like watching school football. You lot sat back and said "come on then", and we hadn't the intelligence to do anything of any use.

Three players who normally wouldn't get near the first team. Blackpool was just how we roll in the playoffs.

fox in the sox Posted 27 October 2011 Posted 27 October 2011 Surely some of those people aren't still looking for a managers job! I'm sure many of them would have something to offer in a coaching job but not as a manager. People like Glenn Roeder and Bryan Robson have failed time and time again.

Thank God we failed.
