Ric Flair Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Still not sure what the fuss is with him. I've seen nothing at all to impress me yet I'm afraid. Did he pass his driving test last week? Saw that nugent had put it on Twitter wishing him luck I think he's shown signs of being gifted and his scoring record against shit teams is impressive, so a good base to start with. He's unpolished though, needs to continue to improve and hopefully he will. You don't get called up to the full Ghana squad at 18 unless you've got something about you.
mancunianfox Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 I don't see a reason why a front three of Nugent, Beckford and Schlupp is an impossibility under Pearson. He regularly played N'Guessen and Waghorn alongside Fryatt and one of Dyer/Gallagher in the Championship with us. Schlupp seems to have the attributes of being a young player and Pearson did like playing young players (even if most of them where loaned from other clubs).
Narborough_fox Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Gradel was/ is arrogant. Schlupp is completely different he feels every moment on the football pitch is a moment to savour and he wants to have success at this club. Working with NP who also has passion for the club will only help him thrive.

I take your points, but he's still done nothing to warrant half the posters on this thread getting infatuated with him. Ghana for all I know, could have a massive injury crisis and it'd make sense to stake their claim on him before the krauts do
blueredswed Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 I must say Sven saw a big future star in Schlupp! And soo do I! But remember he is not so old so take care off him and let him play when our big strikers is injuries or let him play last 30 minutes. It will beeing dissapointing for him but there is a lot off yeras coming :scarf:

Look what Gradel did at Bournemouth and then came back to us and ran MK Dons ragged on his debut for us and he was a hero forever.
Narborough_fox Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 wheres this from Don't know Schlupp re-tweeted it on Twitter.
deep blue Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 Depends on the situation Ric. But against Leeds, for example, I saw no reason not to use all three when we went a goal down. But in doing so I'd only have three at the back and ideally go with four in midfield, thus retaining width - another reason we so desperately need some wingers - whether as first choice players or as cover. Against Leeds I would have liked to see both Schlupp and Beckford brought on straight after halftime. If difficult to accommodate all 3 up front then Schlupp could have started a little deeper, left-side midfield, where his pace would have added a new dimension. We were getting nowhere in an attacking sense, so it was worth a gamble. I hate it when we wait till we're a goal down before we change things. Sorry, this is getting a bit off-topic.

Saw that nugent had put it on Twitter wishing him luck From what I've seen he's a natural goalscorer. Gets in the right place at the right time (league cup games) and runs his socks off to make things happens. He looks good taking players on too but seems to have done less of that in recent outings.
Thracian Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 Gradel was/ is arrogant. Schlupp is completely different he feels every moment on the football pitch is a moment to savour and he wants to have success at this club. Working with NP who also has passion for the club will only help him thrive. a) If you sidelined every top footballer who was arrogant over the years, i'm not sure, there'd be many left. b) i've spoken with Gradel on two or three occasions and didn't find him noticeably arrogant. c) I don't think Gradel's attitude to being on the pitch is any different from Schlupp's. He clearly loved playing at any and every level and the fact that Pearson wouldn't pick him was a big part of the reason for his leaving. To suggest that Schlupp and Pearson have passion for the club while Gradel didn't is nonsense. Gradel's played here for years and always given his best when I've watched. If Pearson comes back here I'd doubt it will have anything to do with passion but with a much-enhanced pay packet and the belief he'll have greater opportunity to enhance his managerial name.
paddy Agyemang Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 Well done jeffers now push into starting line up
oxford blue Posted 12 November 2011 Posted 12 November 2011 Schlupp's a player with plenty of potential, and if he develops as we hope, international class. I'm hoping Ghana don't play him - he could still be an England striker when residency completed.

Lower opposition? Tougher opposition? Yeh I know he needs time to learn etc, but thats not accounted for in the fawning of him on here
