Foxinspain Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Hey guys, I'm from Ghana and i was just wondering what kind of player Schlupp is and what his strengths and weaknesses are. Schlupp is an 18 year old striker, still very inexperienced, but blessed with blistering pace and decent upper body strength. Doesbt take as many of his chances as he should do, but at 18 that can be worked on and I foresee a great future for him. SCHLUPPERMAN
wellyfox Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Well wave good bye for 6 weeks in jan every other year
Thracian Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 It's a tribute to the lad although God knows how they made the decision based on the tiny amount of football he's been playing since he was shifted aside by the weight of a chequebook. There's some will benefit from Pearson's arrival but I'd be a worried man if I was Schlupp. Despite Kingy's continued - yet alarmingly less influential presence in the team - we've been absolutely hopeless at putting the finishing touches to our top Academy graduates - including the last mentioned. And we don't look like doing any better with Schlupp. He's been almost totally wasted since Beckford's arrival and there's been absolutely no need. Even acknowledging that big-signing Beckford might not always be the massive waste of space that he's been so far, there's no need or reason whatsoever not to use both. Our "Academy" managers - who displayed only that the "Academy" prefix is what their thought processes deserve on Sunday - made a big mistake in not bringing both players on much sooner against Leeds and attacking with attitude in something like a 3-4-3 or even a 3-3-4. They really showed no imagination and no substantive response to the fact we were 1-0 down and needing to change that with at least two goals rather than one. And will Pearson be any better? As i've mentioned, he didn't bring one young player through in his previous spell here as manager, not even a kid as obviously gifted as Gradel. Is he now going to risk his manaerial reputation by persevering with Schlupp or will he stick solely with the "names" his employees so seem to love? We'll see but I'd be concerned if I was Schlupp just as I'm concerned as to whether NP has the faintest idea how to utilise attackers effectively. It's something that's bothered me for years at Leicester and has made me greatly suspicious of the coaching set-up. Sunday did nothing to allay those concerns and young Schlupp needs to be careful he doesn't become the next victim. He's at the wrong stage of his career to be shunted into a siding, especially considering the deadweights who have been getting some game time.
Lambert09 Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 I agree with a previous poster it will be a clever move from Ghana to get in early incase this boy reaches his potential and becomes good enough for Germany. Really feel he should of been loaned out and the same goes for Mousa ....wasting talent
Thracian Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 I agree with a previous poster it will be a clever move from Ghana to get in early incase this boy reaches his potential and becomes good enough for Germany. Really feel he should of been loaned out and the same goes for Mousa ....wasting talent He shouldn't have been loaned out, he showed himself perfectly good enough to play in our team and at a time when we had very few sensible alternatives especially as Vassell is no striker. Vassell has ability and is much missed but he's not a goalscorer and we've needed someone apart from Nugnt to stick the ball in he net. Dyer and Gallagher (support striker's at best) have been injured, Howard has no chance of offering pace so it was and still remains the case that Schlupp should be getting utilised far more than he is. For whatever reason we simply show no faith in our Academy graduates and destroy their sense of worth. Schlupp, Gradel and now even King have hit the buffers here. There's even this silly debate about which of our midfielders is most effective when all the statistics make it perfectly plain and by a dramatic margin. King has not sudenly become a bad player but he's playing so far back now he's becoming an unlikely striker. It is our management and our team's glaring limitations that are making King look ineffective at a time when the use of Schlupp would definitely help. Wellens is suffering too for the same reasons although he will never be a striker. To me Schlupp has been effectively sidelined because of football's internal politics not his performance and ability. Things like seniority, payment levels, "experience (that eternal getout) etc. Never mind loan-outs. If we don't chose to use he should move to a club that will and where he management will take the time and trouble to get the best out of him. King might think the same because there's no way he's improving these days and, looking at that shambles on Sunday, I'm not surprised.
Brainy Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 But not good enough to get a start for Leicester That George Taft is an England under something international, does that mean he should be starting too?
Bert Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 That George Taft is an England under something international, does that mean he should be starting too? But Jeff is in the full squad, Taft isn't.
bluesbrothers Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 This one has slipped under the Radar for many with the Pearson news, but it's amazing news. That our youngster is getting into one of the best teams in Africa is incredible. Good luck Jeff!

I struggle to put together a team with Nugent, Beckford and Schlupp in it. I hope Pearson can find a way though as Schlupp needs to play more often and Nugent cannot be dropped. Beckford for all his goals he's capable of scoring musn't be overlooked either.
Guest MattP Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Surprised he is making this decision this early, I know it's a lot to ask but surely Germany would be his first choice.... actually ignore that, no chance he reaches that level.
Number 6 Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Great news. Hope he doesn't go the way of Gradel because Schlupp could be a real handful in this division. Think he needs to AT LEAST be a regular fixture on the bench. Also agree with the above that Moussa should be loaned out. Not sure why he's continuously overlooked when our midfield is playing awfully and we need width. Had a good loan spell with Doncaster before and may have benefitted here. Having said that I'd rather we give him a go in our own side!
Amin Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 I think he's made a wise choice, considering the competition he would have for a place in the England and Germany squads.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Great news for the young lad This Well done the Schluppernator

Depends on the situation Ric. But against Leeds, for example, I saw no reason not to use all three when we went a goal down. But in doing so I'd only have three at the back and ideally go with four in midfield, thus retaining width - another reason we so desperately need some wingers - whether as first choice players or as cover.
LCFC FOX Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Will he be another Max Gradel with Nigel Pearson. I hope not because i love this guy
Ric Flair Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Will he be another Max Gradel with Nigel Pearson. I hope not because i love this guy Gradel was a maverick, that seemed to go against Pearson's style sadly. Schlupp has a great work ethic and attitude and I can see him being right up Pearson's street. It's not as if Nige doesn't like putting togetehr young squads, he is regularly pinching youngsters from Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and so on. He put his complete faith in Andy King when others may not have done, so I think Schlupp will be spot on.
Simmo86 Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Schlupp is a totally different kettle of fish to Gradel He will only benefit from working under NP
The Year Of The Fox Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Still not sure what the fuss is with him. I've seen nothing at all to impress me yet I'm afraid. Did he pass his driving test last week? Saw that nugent had put it on Twitter wishing him luck

Simple, really.... Pantsil has been raving about him... Pantsil must hold some clout in the Ghana team.... seasoned prem experienced player that he is....
