Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 The away support is very good in my opinion in terms of singing and atmosphere. But me and a couple of friends have seen that the King Power is so quiet and we really want to get a good atmosphere down here at home,(which may attract a few more fans down here) we have gone to Upton Park and Elland Road. Both old fashioned real football grounds, and they both have a pre match song which they sing really loud and passionately, (Marching on Together, and Blowing Bubbles) We have 'When Your Smiling' I don't mind it, but I don't hate it. At the next home match in L1,can everyone standing in L1 sing 'When your smiling' before the match quite slowly, because at the moment you can hear it but people who want to join in don't know the words to it. You may think I'm a complete twat, but I go to the Football, to support my local team and sing my heart out, and it disappoints me that the King Power is so quiet. Would be much appreciated if all of L1 sing 'Whwn your Smiling' before the game against Peterborough really slowly, and if it is sung a few times, I have a feeling that everybody else around will join in. Thanks a lot!
LCFC BEAST Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 I've always thought that if 'When You're Smiling' is our song we should sing it when it's being played over the speakers before the game, Me and my mate always do it but feel a bit silly when no one else does.

Exactly, where do you sit? If you sit in L1 try before the game sing it really slowly so everybody can join in. Thanks a lot.
Dan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 I totally agree with you, completely. But it just never seems to happen and it appears our fans aren't bothered enough about singing it slowly nor are the club genuinely interested in improving the atmosphere (as much as they like to make you think they are, their actions in the past few years have spoke louder than words). Our away support isn't as amazing as most make out, yesterday was though, I'd fully agree if it was like yesterday every time because that was one of the best ends of the season for us, no doubt about it, virtually the whole end on their feet for the game and real good noise too, that needs to be re-created time and time again, rather than have that one week and then at Doncaster in two weeks, subdued noise and about 3 rows stood up, which happens too often for my liking. Like I say though until more of our fans are interested in improving the atmosphere (I could be called a hypocrite but I've got reasons, I'll be in one of the noisy blocks soon) and the club actually take an interest in helping it, rather than claiming goal music and all that is what helps, then it will remain poor.

Thanks a lot! Most away supporters of any club are usually the hardcore in terms of passion etc for their club thats why you tend to get better atmospheres away from home, plus as has already been pointed out a few time, we need the team to be playing more consistently well at home to generate a more consistently passionate home crowd. Having said all that i appreciate you trying to improve things, so good idea

Exactly, glad you agree with me! Well...I'll be up there in L1 on Saturday and it would really help if someone starts it off e.g. Jobber and everyone sings it before the players come out. I genuinely think it'll work if we all sing our hearts out and sing it slowly as then people can understand what we are singing as when we sing it quickly we just mumble and it sounds stupid. <_< Thanks a lot!
Dan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 We sing virtually everything too quickly for me. I'm behind what you're saying though, I think we've lacked a genuine anthem for years and it'd certainly help.

I know when you get that depleted feeling when the oppostiton score, the crowd can be a 12th man in games and if we are singing loudly, trying to spure them on,it will have a more positive effect rather than booing or jeering. Cheers buddy We sing virtually everything too quickly for me. I'm behind what you're saying though, I think we've lacked a genuine anthem for years and it'd certainly help. glad to here it! Much appreciated
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Author Posted 4 December 2011 Anyone sitting in L1,K1 or J1 please comment with your opinion and if you would agree to singing 'when your smiling' slowly before the peterborough match on saturday. Would be very much appreciated. And if we make an atmophere at the KP its going to attract fans who don't have season ticket holders but who go to away games back.
Happy Fox Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 It will take time for things to change but if everyone has a collective endeavor to bring a change the our atmosphere, WYS is our anthem lets roar it to the roof tops. Agreed thanks a lot mate!! Yeah, I know it could take time but it will be worth it if we can
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Author Posted 4 December 2011 Can you say agree/disagree if you will sing 'when your smiling' at a slow pace before peterborough.
SemperEadem Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Our fans really need to start singing songs a hell of alot slower and chants/songs that have more than two lines.
Kitchandro Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Great post. Not only should it be sung slowly, it should be sung in tune . Am I the only one who could see this version sounding absolutely brilliant? I'm not saying you've got to imitate Louis' voice, just sing it loud, slowly and in that tune.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Author Posted 4 December 2011 Totally agree! Good to hear that you think it would sound great slowly!
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Author Posted 4 December 2011 Thanks a lot, just trying and will probably fail to create an atmosphere against Peterborough on Saturday, no harm in trying 5 minutes before the match kicks off can Jobber or the person that starts the songs sing 'When your smiling' really slowly, like West Ham do with 'Blowing Bubbles' and if it is sung slowly then hopefully more and more people from where its being sung will join in. You may think I'm off my head, but I'm tired of the KP being a library and if there is some atmopshere at our home games then it will become more enjoyable. Would be really helpful if you could take part, wherever you are sitting/standing in the ground. Also, if you could give me any other suggestions on how to create a better atmosphere just post it here! Much appreciated
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 The atmosphere at away games is always better cos we are a bunch of fans who have made a trip to attend a game 'on their patch'. As the away side we are usually the underdogs which makes it all the more pleasing if we grab a goal. The away support, in my experience anyway, feel more like a group of people with a common cause and therefore more close-knit. The composition of the fans is usually the more hardcore group too, those who want to make the trip to West Ham, Southampton or wherever. Some of our songs however, both home and away, really have become pants. We either need to go back to some of the older ones or for someone to come up with some more original stuff. The drum thing gets on my tits..Jobber always seems like a great bloke, but we don't need to be starting songs with drum beats.

The reason a lot of people don't sing when your smiling is 1: because they don't like the Jersey Budd version or 2: because they aint sure of the Jersey Budd tune, there might be more chance if it was sung the original way IMO
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Author Posted 4 December 2011 PLEASE TAKE THIS TOPIC OFF, WHY DO YOU FEEL THE NEED TO START 2 SEPARATE POST'S GOING ON ABOUT L1 SINGING WHEN YOUR SMILING B4 THE GAME? because i've done a poll to see how many fans will be taking part. Will show who and who won't be doing it

I disagree, IMO if we didn't have the drum it would be even more like a library in L1 just like the Kop
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 4 December 2011 Author Posted 4 December 2011 I disagree, IMO if we didn't have the drum it would be even more like a library in L1 just like the Kop I agree but the drum does make us look like a laughing stock
SemperEadem Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Yeah the drum imo needs to go. Always played to fast and seems to affect the originality of our songs. Recently it just seems to be players names chanted to the same tune e.g Fernandes and Schmeichel.
glen parva fox Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 At least we have got a real drum, many grounds just put a drum through their tannoy systems to get their fans motivated. It all adds to the banter. I have said it before and I'll say it again, till we move the kop to the opposite end we will never generate enough noise
