Fox1651 Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Thanks a lot, just trying and will probably fail to create an atmosphere against Peterborough on Saturday, no harm in trying 5 minutes before the match kicks off can Jobber or the person that starts the songs sing 'When your smiling' really slowly, like West Ham do with 'Blowing Bubbles' and if it is sung slowly then hopefully more and more people from where its being sung will join in. You may think I'm off my head, but I'm tired of the KP being a library and if there is some atmopshere at our home games then it will become more enjoyable. Would be really helpful if you could take part, wherever you are sitting/standing in the ground. Also, if you could give me any other suggestions on how to create a better atmosphere just post it here! Much appreciated Good Luck with it, not sure if i can get yet but if i can i will sing it
Austin Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Won't happen, people aren't interested in creating an atmosphere like they use to be anymore.
Dan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 I don't mind a drum to join into songs and OCCASIONALLY start them but I agree it's reached the stage he's ending up starting them all.
liamsm Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 because i've done a poll to see how many fans will be taking part. Will show who and who won't be doing it You can do a poll at the top of any post
liamsm Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 You can do a poll at the top of any post [/quote2] " Anyone sitting in L1,K1 or J1 please comment with your opinion " is this not going to give you your answer? to me it will give the same result as a poll
Narborough_fox Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 We need to start Molly Malone again as well. Every time it's sang it always gets a reaction and is something of our own as well.
foxaholic Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 The away support is very good in my opinion in terms of singing and atmosphere. But me and a couple of friends have seen that the King Power is so quiet and we really want to get a good atmosphere down here at home,(which may attract a few more fans down here) we have gone to Upton Park and Elland Road. Both old fashioned real football grounds, and they both have a pre match song which they sing really loud and passionately, (Marching on Together, and Blowing Bubbles) We have 'When Your Smiling' I don't mind it, but I don't hate it. At the next home match in L1,can everyone standing in L1 sing 'When your smiling' before the match quite slowly, because at the moment you can hear it but people who want to join in don't know the words to it. You may think I'm a complete twat, but I go to the Football, to support my local team and sing my heart out, and it disappoints me that the King Power is so quiet. Would be much appreciated if all of L1 sing 'Whwn your Smiling' before the game against Peterborough really slowly, and if it is sung a few times, I have a feeling that everybody else around will join in. Thanks a lot! Lets be honest and not politically correct . Leicester go out of their way to attract families and it is a fact of life that mainly people with their wife and children do not support only watch .I regularly see people at away games or with a mate at a home game very vocal but on the odd times they bring partner or have children with them quiet as a church mouse
fatmando Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 It's been posted before, the kop and family stand should swap ends. Atmosphere would improve on one side of the ground at least. I think until this happens you have no chance creating 'the 12th man' each and every game. Went to Stoke the other week with an old friend who supports them. Their home atmosphere was ten times better than ours!

scinnell Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 im in K1, and me and my mate sing it but we are like the only ones in our area :L

Kitchandro Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 load of rubbish.. i love how people always try and blame the poor atmosphere on families... families have always been at football. Not as many as there are now though. It's not a load of rubbish at all, it's quite true.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 load of rubbish.. i love how people always try and blame the poor atmosphere on families... families have always been at football. Hehe... How often were you in Spion kop 1? Didn't see many families in there miself.
m00nie Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 Not as many as there are now though. It's not a load of rubbish at all, it's quite true. so what happens at grounds where there is an atmosphere still ? dont they allow families in or something ?? Hehe... How often were you in Spion kop 1? Didn't see many families in there miself. was sk1 the only part of the ground then ??
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 so what happens at grounds where there is an atmosphere still ? dont they allow families in or something ?? was sk1 the only part of the ground then ?? Of course not.. But the Spion kops were where most of noise was generated.. That's the point.. And filbert st was sufficiently small for the noise to carry
Kitchandro Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 so what happens at grounds where there is an atmosphere still ? dont they allow families in or something ?? was sk1 the only part of the ground then ?? I wouldn't say they 'don't allow families in', but in the sections of the ground where there is an atmosphere (like K and L at our ground) there will be barely any families. In general, Kids don't sing, women don't sing, and men with women and children are less likely to sing.

In general, Kids don't sing, women don't sing, and men with women and children are less likely to sing. Exactly. At Filbert Street, there was a kind of self-segregation amongst the fans - lads in one area, families, etc. in another. At the new ground there's none of that, everyone's mixed together and the atmosphere, as a consequence, is diluted. It's the same at most new grounds tbh.
Dan Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 m00nie being clueless, shocker. What kind of ridiculous comment is "do those grounds not let families in" The proportion of families is higher, and the fact with families is that they don't all go in the designated stand, nor do all the singers go in the designated stand. That's just the way it is here. It seems.

Kitchandro Posted 4 December 2011 Posted 4 December 2011 whats our proportion of families then ?? and what figures are you basing this on at other clubs?? Not sure we need figures, just pay more attention next time you go to football grounds and you'll see what we're saying.
General Smuts Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 The KP stadium sickens me to the point where i've buggered off to Stevenage to stand on a terrace instead. I refuse to spend 30 quid on the train, 20 quid on the ticket for the match and the inevitable 50 quid on booze and food, to just sit quietly for 2 hours. I'd have gladly doubled that price for a trip to Filbert Street. Our away support particularly in League 1 was fantastic and I still make the effort to get to as many away games as I can but I won't be returning to the KP anytime soon.
BrummieFOX Posted 5 December 2011 Posted 5 December 2011 That's the other thing, we're not actually that great away. Numbers wise we're very good but the atmosphere is rarely brilliant. We have a song book of about 5-6 songs which we repeat all game and unless the home fans are in good voice and we engage in their 'banter' then it's all a bit dull. A number of things would have to happen at the KP for us to generate a decent atmosphere which most have been mentioned, though I think the main two are: 1. Don't have dance music at full blast right up until Kick Off - you don't get any build up of atmosphere and kills it instantly. 2. Switch the Kop and Family Stand

Whilst I believe our away support is easily in the top 6 in this league, I still don't think it's amazing as a lot of our fans like to make out.
