Unwatchable: Is your phone rape free?

Recommended Posts

I saw someone on my facebook post this link earlier. Based on TRUE stories from Congo.

Some foxestalk members may find this video offensive. Video contains sexual & voilent scenes.

http://www.unwatchable.cc/ - Sign the petition on this site to try and stop major manufacturers buying the colbalt mineral from such countries as Congo.

Could you imagine something like this happening to our families?

****ing hell that was a bit deep. Guess I better sign that petition, don't need that on my concious. Congo is a pretty messed up country anyway.

God, that is brutal. I'm watching this feeling sick.

I'll sign.

While your signing the mobile phone petition perhaps think about how we can get western militaries to stop covering for (the minority of) our own soldiers who have been known to commit similarly horrible crimes abroad.

That was disturbing.

I don't understand though.. why does the Congo military randomly rape and kill families just to obtain minerals for mobile phones? I don't get the link tbh.

Very grim to watch and felt a sick feeling in my stomach watching it.

I get that they're trying to make a point and put a stop to these terrible acts of humans on other humans. I totally understand that.

But did they have to go to such extreme lengths to do so? Is it simply just to get across the shock factor, emphasise the reality of it actually happening in other parts of the world?

(this question isn't to stir up controversy and whatnot, just a simple question :) )

An act of war to control the mines that the cobalt is extracted from.

The one specific "machine gun" bit was the bit that kind of really made me feel dodgy seeing it.

Not watched it yet but I showed the link to John Coster of Citizens Eye and he said that a documentary was being shown at the Phoenix at the next Docfilm festival in the new year. Here is the link to what else is on. The one connected to this is the fourth down.
