How many LCFC players live local?

I post this question and hark back to the early years of myself following leicester Heskey Elliott Walsh Muzzy Everyone you knows dad probably has a emile story "oh i went to the same school as him" or "i knew his dad" etc there was a real sense of local community and especially with Filbert street being where it was it was the heart the life blood of the community it's veins the long winding streets the organs the local shops and pubs and then the heart A spion Kop. Fast forward to now how many of our players have actually moved to Leicestershire, I know some have apartments ETC that they use and then go to there places they call home but i really have no clue and was wondering if people on here knew or if they think it matters now in a footballing world where you see Billy Sharp opting to stay up north for his family and for his localesque team is he an exception to the new footballing rules or is the lack of locality adding to the overall disconnection we have at the minute with the current players.

i agree with the general point you are making, wasnt it O'Neill who insisted players lived within a certain distance of the City?

It does sound familier but i couldn't say for sure i just think theres a sort of affinity with home grown players King Schlupp Mattock (when he didn't hit women) and now people like Liam Moore being raised in Barrow area and wearing an LCFC shirt it's a fans dream to cheer on your team your lads who you want to see do well not just for them but the community :scarf:

If I was a player signing for LCFC I wouldn't dream of moving houses if it was commutable not with the merry go round of managers and players we have.

Dont Gally and Wellens travel from Manchester way? Surely that cant be any good, extra fatigue with travelling etc etc

This is another point i was hoping to raise it must be hard to travel that distance and no wonder theres this tension now and this sort of dispondence. we don't know them and they don't know us most of us are struggling in a house rent or flats and they have two one here and one god knows where

I know Gallagher stays at the Marriott quite a bit rather than trekking backwards and forwards every day, or so a birdy told me. When he travel he and Wellens take turns to drive.

Fair enough, but you know the point i am making, i would of thought a settled "community" of City players would be better all round, say within 30 miles of the City centre max

You see now compare this with our Captain Matt Mills although he isn't in anyones good books at the minute he lives in oadby near the racecourse and has commented on how hard it's been because of the realisation that not all the players live local so he feels there isn't a feeling of a social life in Leicester because his team mates aren't here

I know, problem is some players don't want to move and without letting them commute they could go to other clubs. It's down to the management to decide.

When we were in the playoffs and doing well were people worried about player commutes?

I was thinking this too. I mean it was the reason Fergie and Beckham fell out wasn't it? His commuting down to London. Hayley Gallagher tweeted yesterday (i think) that she was seeing Paul for the first time in 3 days. Presumably he was heading back up the M6, but will be featuring in some part tomorrow? Now after reading Beckhams autobiography I know that he said he never travelled back to Manchester later than 3 days before a game.

NB I am not comparing Gally to Beckham

I was just wondering if it's how the modern game is going you look at the extreme case Eto'o and Roberto Carlos live in Moscow and have to Fly to every home game in Russia because of suspected Racism in the home town they play in and the social side of the city doesn't appeal to footballers with big wage packets because there isn't anything to do there. A point Tevez made about Manchester also saying dull and boring Etc Will it get like that to all leagues of football? Players drive down from another area play 90 minutes and then oiff they pop until training. Thats why i feel there is a distance a hostility between fans and players ATM there not in the shops seeing the glum faces or going past the ground to be reminded of the defeat or in the bars and pubs and restaurants with your mates just going over every bad ball or lack of effort if Leicester lose we know because we are leicester where as they are manchester liverpool birmingham Etc

Aye, probably is but if I read Twitter correctly didn't they have a pregnancy thingy today which may of been the reason why Pearson let Gallagher go up the M6 today.

Yeah but again Gally has been a player for a long time now in modern footballing terms hasn't he ever thought of moving here? look at Stevie G he's being made an ambassador after he retires he's born and bred Scousse and he has a connection with the fans that is flagged as one of the greatest shouldnt we expect the same? Nevielle with Manchester Jamie Carra also good examples of these players who are their team the stereotypical badge kisser

Gally & Wellens used to travel down the night before a game as i used to see them in the Marriott. I've heard mentioned that Gally bought a flat down here. Bamba & Waggy live in Freemans Meadow, Schlupp is in M.K. but not sure of the rest..
