cc_star Posted 20 January 2012 Posted 20 January 2012 I always tried to see the best in every signing but this one just baffled me. Hadnt played for ages, looked like he was carrying an extra couple of stone in pre-season and we seemed to have other options in that position. Just plain weird. In a nutshell Gave Taft a new contract last year, convinced Berner to stay last Jan & had Kennedy on the books & just signed Konchesky
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 on his twitter contract cancelled by mutual consent @bally03 .......bounce bounce.......pffffft !!
FrankieADZ Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 oh dear, what a pity, never mind.....now whos for a bacon butty?
Simmo86 Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 Played like Xavi at Kettering pre season! Pure awesomeness! Nothing but good memories!
Jon the Hat Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 I don't really think he's going to have got a big pay off...he had a nice holiday on us in the summer, played about a game and half in preseason and not at all since the season started. He's bargaining position can't have been ever so strong...he was lucky not to have been told to fohk off penniless. 'Cancelled by mutual consent' doesn't mean we paid his contract up. He most likely got £5 of pick n mix and a LCFC keyring. I don't think you quite understand contracts.
Mack Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 I doubt he was on a fortune, Sven obviously saw him as good value for squad cover, whereas Pearson has other ideas. I doubt it has cost us a fortune or indeed done us any real damage. I would imagine if he can be bothered there are a few lower league sides or smaller top league sides abroad that might have him, but he seems to lack the motivation or desire to peruse football opportunities.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 mutual consent..always makes me laugh! Mack's right though he'll have only been on a few quid a week. Little proffered little lost.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 21 January 2012 Posted 21 January 2012 I think we are on the Ball with this decision . . . . . . .

If Sven ever saw Ball as good value for squad cover then this was probably the Swedes biggest error of judgement since he took Walcott to the World Cup... Oh, and didn't play him either..
leicesterseddon Posted 22 January 2012 Posted 22 January 2012 Complete joke of a signing. Never even looked fit enough to take to the field. As others have said, he probably wasn't on big money (well, not in comparison with the rest of the squad)...but still, just a complete waste of time.
MikeyT Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Confirmed. http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2575166,00.html

I love how people still think that Walcott was Sven's decision and not the English FA trying to shift more shirts to aspiring youth, and a marketing gimmick for sponsors alike. It failed miserably.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Bye Hopefully get rid of the rest of the dead wood too
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Bye Hopefully get rid of the rest of the dead wood too Yep. When's Pearson going?
jgoode1985.jg Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 i thought he was a good signing, definatly decent experienced cover. Now hes been offloaded and Abi, One youngish midfielder [in "bare-bones" midfield] and some average young sriker on loan, with the 4 plus strikers. If we carrying on we'll end up with only a handful of youth players

It failed miserably. Yes what a ridiculous accusation to make that the England manager picks his own squad? You really think a squad that contained Owen, Beckham, Gerrard and half a squad of latter stage champions league players needed Theo Walcott in it to gain more exposure and sponsorship? Baring in mind he also took Downing, Carson and Lennon who were all either in or close to their teens? I swear you do this for a wind up sometimes. Has Sven ever got anything wrong in his career that was his decision? Id dread to think what your take on his Chris Powell selection was for.
