Langley Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Was down the training ground earlier and Kingy said that it looks like he's out for the season which is a real shame and Schlupp out for just about as long. Just thought that I would let you guys know.

Langley Posted 25 January 2012 Author Posted 25 January 2012 Looks like it with talk of Wellens going. Abe gone, Johnson not fit, Moussa out, Oakley "not fit".
Langley Posted 25 January 2012 Author Posted 25 January 2012 I'll say it Blessing in disguise. Yeah, I think that he's just been unfortunate this season and the games he's out we end up winning 4-0 and 2-0.
Howard9 Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Unlucky, but at this moment our last two games have shown we can live without him for the time being wellens and danns seem to have a good understanding of eachother, also drinkwater can play as a centre midfielder
Corky Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 I'll say it Blessing in disguise. Don't think it is. He's been poor this season but we might need him at some point. He'd be useful from the bench.

Ric Flair Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 I'll say it Blessing in disguise. It's only a blessing in disguise if King never returns to the form of previous seasons. If he did get back to that, where he scores and creates 20+ goals a season then he's a massive absence. But right now, he's no great loss given the form he's been in. Let's hope Danns and Drinkwater can perform well and Wellens can keep things ticking over, otherwise we'll not hit promotion form.
cc_star Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Shame, it's a long haul from till May & he is a quality player who has scored many match winners. Yes his form hasn't been great & even poor at times but he is an important squad member and I'm pretty sure between now and the end of the season we could do with King ghosting in unmarked and scoring

Just thought that I would let you guys know. Schlupp said he was out for 8 weeks and that was 3 weeks ago, so i would expect him back before end of season.
Fox92 Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Yeah, I think that he's just been unfortunate this season and the games he's out we end up winning 4-0 and 2-0. Wonder why? Anway, I like the look of Danns, Wellens and Drinkwater in the middle. (4-3-3/4-5-1 I suppose).
Arnar Gunnlaugsson Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 Would Bamba in midfield be worth trying. Loves to get forward, isn't too bad distributing the ball and will track back and make important challenges. He isn't going to walk back into the defence unless there's some major cock ups so could this be an option?

The build-up to this injury would almost certainly have explained his disappointing form this season and his absence for the season was what I expected. But Drinkwater's an encouraging signing, Danns will get more chance to use his energy in the middle and, with other arrivals likely King will doubtless have to fight for his place when and if he recovers fully. Perhaps, more than anything, King's particular injury stresses the need for and value of a squad system. Achilles injuries tend to develop over time...because of repeititve strain, or wear and tear, if you like an King has played an enormous number of 90-minute matches in a still short career. I hope we'll be a better team all round because of it. Whatever the reasons for King/Wellens underperforming both individually and as a pari within the team we've badly needed new energy and impetus in midfield. It offers opportunities for others and if King recovers properly he'll have to fight for his place like everyone else. [

Thracian Posted 25 January 2012 Posted 25 January 2012 What, just like many other young professionals? Yes, and there are many who sustain bodily strain-related injuries. Different professionals react to the physical demands of football in different ways, always have and always will. Operating as if people are the same might be very communist in spirit but it's seriously flawed as a policy. And, from personal experience, I'd be very surprised to hear that King's injury occured without preamble.
