Bettsj2 Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 I don't think Tunchev is viewed as reliable. I think in.Pearson's mind, we have four centrebacks. THIS. With Bamba being away for at least another fortnight he probably viewed it that we only had 2 reliable centre backs on the books.
Mack Posted 1 February 2012 Author Posted 1 February 2012 THIS. With Bamba being away for at least another fortnight he probably viewed it that we only had 2 reliable centre backs on the books. So we spent a million quid to cover a position for a couple of weeks? I don't think that is right.

Still think Sol will be off eventually, might even be a case of taking Morgan on now before a few more clubs will be in for him when he is out of contract.

Maybe, but my original point stands. How do you keep 5 centre half's happy when you are only picking two in a game?

Mack Posted 1 February 2012 Author Posted 1 February 2012 You dont Can see Tunch being released and Bamba asking for a transfer by March. So as suspected the situation could well cause trouble within the squad!
GianEmmo Zola Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 Say the same about forwards as well. 2 from nuge wag howard becks schlupp vassell delfoneso when all fit. Every team has competition for places.
Bettsj2 Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 So as suspected the situation could well cause trouble within the squad! I doubt it. One thing that Leicester have been accused of so many times in recent years is not having a plan B. After the success away at Palace, perhaps the plan B is now to go with 3 central defenders in certain games. Also, central defenders can often adapt to a full back position in the case of emergency. Morrisson played quite a bit at full back, Tunchev filled in at left back in League 1 a few times. To be honest I think i'm wasting my time typing this. As with everything, opinions on this are at different ends of the spectrum. 50% of Leicester fans think the signing of Morgan is going to bring about the implosion of the squad and the other 50% just see it as strengthening the squad. Time will tell. One thing I know is that i'll be supporting Leicester long after all 5 are gone so I dont really give a **** if any of their noses get put out of joint.
Captain... Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 It is amazing how many psychics support Leicester, I am all for speculation, but not when people are talking like it is fact. Personally I think NP rates Morgan and saw an opportunity to sign him up cheap, Tunchev is struggling with fitness and could go out on loan, I doubt Bamba will go anywhere before the summer. Injuries and suspensions will happen this season. The problem with the transfer window is that you have to have a squad by 1st of Feb to last until June, we have seen with our forwards that injuries can strike and leave you scrabbling around the loan market: 6 on the books, Vassell, Schlupp, Waghorn, Howard, Becks and Nugent, 3 are injured and 1 is Howard, we had to bring in a 7th for a short term loan.
Babylon Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 I think yesterdays first half performance from Mills and SSL shows exactly why we went for Morgan. Completely bullied by their strikers in open play and set pieces (once again). Not to mention the dereadful ball playing from the two of them constantly presenting their players with the ball in our own half.

It seems to have been conveniently overlooked once more, but Mills distribution last night was laughable. The times he just passed to their players was ridiculous. Couple that with a few more 'up and unders' into the opposition 22 and a few more kicks for touch and the passing annihilation from Mills was complete. Does this not bother people? It gives the ball away, time after time after time

Lets present the man with an easy out ball and then hopefully we don't have to put up with it!!!
breadandcheese Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Mills can't have been happy with his performance last night. The way we conceded from the corner was poor, especially when five minutes previously, they'd whipped in just as dangerous a corner and we'd struggled with it and therefore didn't learn from this. There was also a moment deep into the second half where Mills was turned as if not there. I was actually quite shocked at how poor a piece of defending it was.
Happy Fox Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Would NP drop Mills though for Morgan?, I think most likely it will be St Ledger who I feel was better yesterday although marginally.
psychonaut Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Although I think you should be able to drop your captain if he is under performing, the likely hood is it wont happen, add to that he is our most expensive player for years then it definately wont happen. Plus Mills is a confidence player... Personally I would drop Mills based on his distribution alone especially when building an attack a lot of the time starts from the back.
cuddly ken Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Ive a feeling that NP will drop Mills for Morgs if he feels he needs to. As for last night, MBoros set pieces were very good, their corners were floated over to the exact same area everytime, in contrast to ours who hit their first man yet again. Don't agree that the two CB were bullied how many time did their Polish forward end up on the floor in from challenges with our CB? Plus he was constantly using his arms and elbows which the ref Stevie wonder failed to spot! On a positive note we made a team who are in the play offs having to result to fouling and spoiling tactics to stop us from winning the game.
seenitall Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Best defence in the div has conceded 25 - this is Hull, so we have to accept that Nige has an idea how to build a defence?? We have the 8th best in the div with 32 conceded, one more than Southampton and three more than West Ham - as ever, the twaddle on here suggest either people don't look at this info or that they believe somehow that we are so great that being similar to the top teams in the division is not enough and we should somehow have only conceded one goal since the season began - its football, other teams will score goals against us - deal with it
Fox92 Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Just hope, having conceded two goals last night, Pearson does not drop St Ledger. I am still wondering, like everyone else, how Morgan will fit into the formation. The 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs at Crystal Palace seemed to work alright, but I cannot see Konchesky being able to support for 90 minutes every game.

Mack Posted 2 February 2012 Author Posted 2 February 2012 Mills was very hit and miss last night, and that has pretty much summed up his season so far. St Ledger was OK without being wonderful. I can also see Morgan coming in at the weekend.
Guest MattP Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Was with a friend last night and he told me at that award thing they had near xmas he heard Shakespeare and Walsh taking the piss out of Sven for what he paid for Matt Mills. Can't obviously back it up myself but the guy who told me isnt a renown bullshitter. Might end up wanting to shift him out.

It was interesting yesterday that Mills tried to keep possesion and gave the ball to Peltier at right back who then hoofed it aimlessly forwards. Mills then had a go at him, I don't know if that was frustration or they are under instruction not to hoof the ball aimlessly, but it does seem like Mills is the only one criticised for it when the whole back four have been guilty of giving the ball away.
beemeroo Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 Am I the only one who thinks SSL was not brilliant last night? I'm not saying the lad is bad, but his 'wonder' appearances which are drawing so much praise were against Forest who can't score at home never mind away, Southampton who were missing two of their most prolific players and Swindon who sit two divisions below us.
yag101 Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 I reckon, in time, Mills and Morgan will be the CB pairing. I really really hope not. We don't need two launchers at the back, let alone one. Would much rather see Bamba and St Ledger start together.

Very good points... but you cant drop players based on one average performance. If anything I would drop Mills right now but that is highly unlikely... Maybe bring Morgan on in the 2nd half against Brighton depending on how SSL and Mills are playing.
