sharpie Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Seen the england squad and that Tom Cleverly is in it, I watched them both when they were on loan at city and although cleverly was good I thought Davies was awesome alot better than cleverly, best player we have had down here for ages, I thought he would be a future England player, probably doesnt help him being at Bolton, what do you think?
Kitchandro Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Both quality players, though I was also more impressed with Davies than Cleverley at the time. Maybe if Bolton get relegated he might slip under the radar and we can have him back.
ousefox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I was definitely more impressed with Davies..not sure if he's a bit older? But he's never going to look as good in a Bolton team. Saying that i've seen him highlighted on MOTD a few times.
AKCJ Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I think Tom was 18 when he was with us while Mark was 21. So not a lot in it.
FoxyMusic Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 I preferred Davies at the time. But Cleveley is a very tidy player and well suited to United.
LCFC FOX Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Cleverly is better. Younger and was only 18 when he was here.
StanSP Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Both lit up our midfield. I prefer Cleverley, just.
dave the caveman Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 If Davies played for utd he'd be in the squad too.
Bugg Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Davies is really good for Bolton. I think he'd be getting some appearances for England if he was at a more glamorous club.
Narborough_fox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Davies was the better player at us but he'd had more experience than Cleverley had when he joined. Tom's now the better player though now, playing in a better team!
Finnegan Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Davies was infinitely better than us. Cleverly was very, very average and anyone with overly fond memories of the lad is easily impressed. But Davies was a lot further along in his progress and Cleverly has clearly gone and grown as a player since.
Haydos Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Different types of players. Cleverly seems to have developed a lot more. Very good passer, seen a lot of fantastic passes this season. Davies seems to be more of a ball carrier/advanced player, does a different but just as damaging role.
