FoxesAreBlue Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 I've heard a number of different versions of the tune actually. There may be an original one but I don't think there is a definitive end bit. The important bit is the first half really, as long as he gets that bit right and it's recognisable the end I'm not too bothered about. In fact whether it's his own improvisation/remix or whatever, I always thought the end bit fitted well and is as good as the rest of it. No idea what people are complaining about really. Paul is a credit to the club and the live version of the PHG is brilliant. Before a big game it really is inspiring. Maybe it's just me being too pickey or just haven't taken a liking to his interpretation of the piece I agree that he is a technically gifted player, I certainly haven't got the skill to play as he does - and even though his version is not to my taste, I certainly think he should continue and I did miss him in yesterday, 100 times better than the recording
fox in the sox Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 People on here are saying PHG is unique to us but when we played Peterborough they said on Radio Leicester that they also come out to it. Don't know if this is correct. Anybody know any Peterborough fans?
blue army 1988 Posted 5 March 2012 Posted 5 March 2012 I think it's really embarrassing when he seems to nealry always go wrong
lcfcadam Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 People saying the recorded version is better than it being played live suffer from mental difficulties.
StanSP Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 People need to retract their 'he's playing it wrong' statements here. As Stu said, Paul needs to cut down a 4-minute piece in to 20 seconds. So it's not 'wrong' as many of you put it. It's just altered. At least we are sticking with some tradition in the club and I see nothing wrong with it! I'd love to see any of you lot saying it is wrong or rubbish try and do it! You'd probably fail within the first few seconds. I probably would, too. But I also appreciate that Paul is willing to create his own rendition of such a traditional piece of history in front of 1000s of people each home game. Leave him alone and stop getting on his back for fvcks sake.
accessory Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 People saying the recorded version is better than it being played live suffer from mental difficulties. Why? Is Paul your dad? I want musicians who step foot on our turf to sound professional, in the same way as we expect our football team to be professional.. And as others have noted, that's not always been the case.

Kitchandro Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 I'm sure Paul does his best (in a Josh Low kind of way...) Sorry but I can hardly ever remember him doing it badly. Now Wellens is playing alright it seems you need someone else to be cynical about and slate every week.
Durnerz Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Given that people miss that 'authentic edge' of hunting horns and their traditions, why don't we borrow a couple of police horses and some toff's from the tigers support and have them chase a fox around the pitch pre-match? Seriously, bring back Horny Henry,oh wait....

I want musicians who step foot on our turf to sound professional, in the same way as we expect our football team to be professional.. And as others have noted, that's not always been the case. Every time I've seen him do it he's performed it pretty much impeccably. Usually if something goes wrong it's because the cavemen in charge of the PA system can't get a simple radio mic to work properly, nothing to do with his playing. And anyway I thought people were desperate for our club to have something "unique" that we haven't copied from someone else? Well as far as I'm aware we're the only team I know of that walks out to a live musical performance (correct me if I'm wrong)... I really can't believe that so many seem to be in favour of the jazzed-up recorded version (I assume that's the version that was played last week? Wasn't in attendance at the match) given that everyone berates it all the time!

Show some respect, Henry was a human being after all whose sole purpose was to entertain people and to continue a long standing tradition with our club at their own request.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 As much as that guys sometimes sucks Id rather have him than the recorded one, It just didn't sound right
