now i am forever the optimist and have been waiting for this late run up the table to secure the last play off spot but we have all been hoodwinked into believing that this was possible when in fact we are a team of individuals and rarely click as a team and until that happens we will have many more seasons like this one.

our players are on prem salary's and a cushy number, its the mentality that needs changing what ever happened to wearing your heart on the sleeve.

i agree with you we have no passion as a team and this is due to the over paid wages. the problem is that we are not physical enough we have to many players who are too scared of putting their foot in this has got to change. :(

agree , total flops..yet still fans defend them..all the big talk at the start of the season from the players looks embarrassing now...they have made us all a laughing stock and IMO don't seem to care, todays performance exhibit 1... how many managers are gonig to be sacrificed because of underperforming players? trying to be mates on twitter is shit to me..im not interested...deliver on the pitch....shit or get off the pot.

I'd disagree. It takes time and stability to build a successful side. I think the lads do care and we've got the right manager. Pearson's had to come in and change the mentality of the club. Success doesn't happen over night.

We've got the right pieces Pearson's just got to learn how to put them together properly.

It is a bit ridiculous that we pay players like Beckford 30 grand a week while playing in the same league as teams like Posh who have a wage cap around 3000. They beat Blackpool 3-1 today..I suppose we'll see what difference spending 10 times more makes when we play them both before the end of the month.

perfect thread to describe beckford. dont get on my back with the "you wouldnt say that if he was playing well" ... he has several good games and then a hell of a lot bad ones. watching him today made we want howard to come on. id drop beckford for howard on tuesday to show him his 'big name' wont get him a start in every game

Funnily enough "lazy" was exactly the word I used about our players at Reading today. I pointed it out in relation to the defenders total unwillingness to support the attack - my life how we've missed Konchesky.

Not only did their three goals come from the flanks - one from an attack down the left and the other from two down the right with all three emphasising defensive frailties but it showed that refusing the close the gaps between the sections of our team is catestrophic.

Dyer had chances to run at his marker but never took them and one of the reasons was his lack of support from behind. Konchesky works tirelessly to help him, making tireless little runs or being close enough to provide the first option for a pass if Dyer gets closed down or into difficulty.

That didn't happen today and Peltier was no better - I wouldn't have paid either full-back in obsolete farthings. Even when we were desperately trying to claw our way back into the match - and having an abundance of possession - people like Bamba and Drinkwater seemed obsessed with passing backwards or dribbling the ball in daft places (including Kasper though you might have thought someone would have given him a call).

Have our players watched the video of Barcelona latest Champions League win? If they had it didn't seem like they learned anything or took any notice. For all our possession at times against a respectable counter-attacking a team which was willing and determined to close people down we looked half-hearted in far too many phases. Even when we walked out for the second half 1-0 down there was no bounce, no sense of purpose - just a team that almost looked resigned to their fate. In fact we looked like a rabble.

I actually wonder what the squad does in training and whether they should bother fr all the good it seems to do them. We didn't have a clue. We asked so few questions where it hurt. People were hiding and refusing to risk taking responsibility, there was precious little off the ball movement, I've mentioned the lack of support, our shooting was lamentable, our dead ball kicks predictable. And on the few but deadly occasions Reading attacked they tore our defence to shreds in the simplest ways.

As for Beckford I can't remember the bloke having a significiant kick or doing anything even vaguelly useful? Was it laziness or lack of service? Whichever, there was no excuse. We might have huffed and puffed at times but we were just so shoddy as a unit.

Funny this thread... For all my criticism of Beckford I actually don't doubt his wanting to do well and to be loved by the fans. You can see it in him when he does well. He loves to play to the crowd.

I simply think he just ain't very good. And has been a massively expensive flop. Svens biggest IMO.

The whole squad has been shit apart from Kasper ,Konch and Nugent and that is saying something, we need a massive overhaul of the squad again, but this time NP needs to get rid of the deadwood pre Sven era and post Sven era.

We keep picking on individuals for playing badly, but there are too many bad players week in week out to isolate one or two, nearly the entire team is letting us down as supporters and only a few can be picked out as individuals who are making the grade.

I don't think the squad needs overhauling. We have lots of quality in the team, as other managers, commentators, pundits etc are only too keen to point out. We need to work with them. Goalkeeper and back four are fine. Midfield quality in Danns, and Kingy (when on form). Dyer is okay, and lets hope Drinkwater and Marshall will be okay. Another good forward and a creative midfield/winger is all we need. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Could O'Neill succeed with this squad of players? its not impossible then!

And lets face it, if Pearson feels he needs a new team, the owners quite rightly will think.... it's cheaper to buy a new manager than a new team!

Assuming that a new manager doesn't feel that he needs a new team.

I think Sven was buying those players as they would be great in the way he will use them, but Pearson has another style off playing football!

Therefore the team maybe not good enough. I saw Svens first 13 matches and it was not so bad. Draws against top teams and Mills red card.....this spoiled a lot of the start.

Sven did mistake but he was not more then 2 points from top 6 (if I remember right) when Top told him to leave nov we are.... and the loanmarket nobody or have I missed something.

Yes let built something for next season but after that if we get up?

Is that the team ready for premiere?

No I don´t think so.

So let´s see the reality we are in this division and will also bee next season.

Top made a very big misstake when he not replace Sven with a big name for the future.

This is my thoughts hoping I am wrong but Pearson is not our man for premiere!

I think many managers would be looking on and thinking they could get the quality of players we have performing better.

Kasper is a great goalkeeper, Konchesky an outstanding performer, trappatoni rates SSL very highly, Mills does not go from team of the year to rubbish overnight, Bamba is in a major final and wanted by the premier league, morgan is one of the most solid championship performers, Peltier was highly rated when he came, Pantsil is a seasoned international, Danns was wanted by Rangers, Nugent was wanted by lots of clubs, beckford scored goals in the premier league, schlupp is an international and highly rated.

I refuse to believe that all players need replacing and are shit. Its not the truth and other managers would love a go with this squad.

30k in the bank for 45 minutes of "work" for Beckford today? how will he cope if he doesnt start next week? comfortably I guess....30k becomes 60k.

I'm sure all out of work managers would love a well paid job working with these players, they might believe they could make a success with these players, it doesn't mean they will.

Nobody is suggesting every player needs replacing anyway.

So what IS the problem?

If we are good as you say why the general shitness?

Are you implying both Sven and Pearson are both crap managers?

Perhaps he is not having the right place in the team, or not the good players to serve him for goal. Wingers what did we have today?
