Vale Blue Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Hi Everyone, I've been reading the posts on the site for a while but have just joined. I was hoping some of you might shed some light on where the club are financially. 1) I presume the owners invested heavily to get us promoted this season? 2) How does the FFP affect us? I dont know much about this, apart from it regulates a clubs overspending against turnover. Will our wage bill conform or will we have to sell players? Thanks
Vale Blue Posted 1 April 2012 Author Posted 1 April 2012 Good question shame no one knows the answer Good question shame no one knows the answer Glad to hear I'm not alone, .I think a lot of discontent in the stands is because of this, hopefully it wasn't a s**t or bust policy.
Matt Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Glad to hear I'm not alone, . I think a lot of discontent in the stands is because of this, hopefully it wasn't a s**t or bust policy. I think we'll be ok this season but I fear next season may be shit or bust.
sphericalfox Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 They've not reached their overdraft limit quite yet...
Jace Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Glad to hear I'm not alone, . I think a lot of discontent in the stands is because of this, hopefully it wasn't a s**t or bust policy. Na you are not alone we've all been asking the same questions on here for a year now has caused many arguments and still none of us really know what to expect
blueredswed Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 I knew! Or guess.... The official statement was that wee should be promoted this season, but now as everybody knew We have a manager NP (that I think we could keep) if we will still be here after next season! I knew there is many out there saying but he took us up from..... but now? With those players he has got and pull away (Fernandez.....). The question is to build a team for next season but after that? Premiere is the team ready for that? And is NP!
wellyfox Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Some mug will come on and say our owners have millions so no need to worry Then tell us we can spend another 20mil and paying it all back won't be a problem when we hit the prem

Vale Blue Posted 1 April 2012 Author Posted 1 April 2012 The problem with the club offering no insight into policy, means we all try and piece things together with hearsay etc. 1) Is the FFP going to be implemented next season? 2) Are our players going to have any value, given other clubs will not have budgets big enough to pay large transfer fees? 3) Have we got a plan B, outside the Prem? 4) If players dont want to cancel there contracts, how do we get them off the books to conform to FFP? 5) If we dont conform, do we lose points? Obviously, all these questions apply to other clubs as well but it would appear that our wage bill and current spending over turnover is the highest in the league.

cc_star Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Don't know about investment, but I do know the club owes the Thai's the money via a loan charged at 8% interest One things for sure, they'll be alright.
davieG Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Re FPP Please see attached a link to The Football League website which shows a link to a story that was published with relation to Clubs’ adopting the UEFA Financial Fair Play framework. Their medium term policy of a top 6 finish then promotion next season dosen't seem to be played out, when you sack Sven early in the season when still in contention though. Lets hope they understand the FFP rules and find some loopholes sharpish.
brockmyster Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 Our owners have millions dont worry we can spend another £20million
Vale Blue Posted 1 April 2012 Author Posted 1 April 2012 Don't know about investment, but I do know the club owes the Thai's the money via a loan charged at 8% interest One things for sure, they'll be alright. Now as I've stated, I'm no expert on the FFP but I thought it was being brought in to stop this kind of thing, i.e owners building up a debt and then charging interest and getting a club further into debt.I thought if owners wanted to invest heavily they would have to say it was for advertising etc. i.e they were paying for a service from the club and not building up a debt.

They could sell Belvoir Drive. As for FFP they haven't decided yet, see email above but i'd be amazed if it wasn't phased in.

Well it is a loan we have pay back £28m by next year where is that money going to come from ? the only way we will be able to pay back the loan is by getting promoted.

Happy Fox Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 why do we have to pay back 28m by next year? is that the loan agreement? or for the FFP ? It is the loan agreement if you look at the financial accounts it mentions it their cannot be bothered to look it up but it says it their in black and white.

With regard the FFP being phased in, I thought that meant you were aloud to be 12million over turnover in 1st year, 7million year 2, 5million year 3 etc, until you were running at evens in x years.I heard those figures thrown around somewhere but also heard a starting figure of 35million over turnover for Prem teams.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 This is a very good thread. Just where are we in reality. The Thais have pumped money into the club, but it can't continue as long as we fail as we are., My belief it that they will be looking for a new manager as a last reort, before too long now. If no success comes this time next year then I think they will pull the plug, One massive problem is that they know very little about football.
