Euro 2012

Germany will win.

Neuer, Boateng, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Gotze, Podolski, Gomez, Muller, Kroos, Ozil...

They've got a hell of a lot of quality.

Not to be argumentative but why do you think its the worst team in years? The players are much the same.

Not by a massive amount I have to admit, but the likes of Rio Lampard Gerrard Terry are ageing and not getting in every game and we've got no Rooney for the first two games and no real replacement, I've never thought that we wouldn't get out of our group at a major tournament before but I really cannot see it this time.

Anyone know of any English forums? I am going to Euro 2012 and want to read up on what other English fans are doing etc. Struggling to find any forums dedicated to England.

Anyway, we're a shambles. I am hoping that works in our favour, in the chaotic English way. It doesn't look good though does it? The squad isn't as good as previous tournaments and everything is a mess. Can we replicate some kind of Italia 90 story and bumble our way through to the semi's? I'd love it if we did, my overdraft and credit cards probably wouldn't though. Me and my mates are treating this Euros like it's Italia 90, we've all bought so many horrible kits from the late 80's and loads of nasty shell suits and other clobber from the era. We'll either get shot or on TV. Either way it'll be a buzz.

My early thoughts about our first eleven would have to include Paul Scholes. I don't care about his age or anything else, he's got to be persuaded to play. Wilshere being out is a massive, massive blow. I can't see past a midfield three of Scholes, Parker and Gerrard. I'd like to include Phil Jones, but he's not really a central midfielder by trade.

Hart

Richards

Cahill

Ferdinand

Cole

Scholes

Parker

Gerrard

Young

Defoe

Johnson/Walcott/Sturridge

Oh god, that team is horrid. I can't put forward a case for Welbeck to start through the middle as I don't think he's been that impressive. Darren Bent's a coont and he's injured. Defoe might have hardly been picked for 2 seasons but he's still our best finisher and most experienced whose available, would Redknapp pick him to start though if he's given the gig? Rooney, you fookin penis.

It would be interesting to see how Walcott would do through the middle. He is rapid and can finish, plus he says its his preferred position. Just some food for thought. Can't see it happening mind.

GTFO Michael.

He'll never be as clinical as Jermaine Defoe, Redknapp has screwed Defoe over in the past 18 months. He's got absolutely no form or confidence leading in to this tournament and yet he's our most experienced striker whose available. Not happy.

No I agree with you on the Defoe part, but I can't see him being selected. That leaves the likes of Welbeck, Crouch, Sturridge and Walcott who are playing for their clubs regularly. You know its a bad state of affairs when people are calling for Grant Holt to get a call up!

I think i'd prefer Danny Graham to Welbeck, I don't rate the lad.

He's Wank (Welbeck) as is Grant Holt and Theo Walcott has no end product and he hasn't scored for England in four years.

No point in talking about it really we are ****ed, all Rooneys fault, petulant tw@t.

He can't cross, but can finish, hence playing him as a striker. Plus he is actually in form and playing regularly.

He's still in the top 10 for assists this season without having an end product

I'll have my little England flag hanging from the car, 3 Lions playing in the background, Gerrard poster on the wall, Harry Redknapp's interviews on a loop on video, all in anticipation for the first game.

COME ON!!

Just out of interest bar a flurry of goals in the Championship nearly 7 odd years ago followed by about 12 games without a goal what are you basing this Theo Walcott super star striker theory on. Im really struggling with it, he misses loads of chances.

I'm basing the fact that without Rooney, and to a lesser extent Bent, our striking options are poor on an international level. Welbeck, Walcott, Crouch, Defoe, Sturridge, Agbonlahor, Carroll, Holt, Graham. None really fill me with any hope or are prolific at club level at the moment. Walcott through the middle was a suggestion as at this present time is in form and has the potential to be a good striker at PL level anyway. RVP and Henry were hardly world beaters when Wenger first signed them and they were both wingers. I'm not saying he will be as successful as those two, but it is possible for him to do well. He is only 23 after all.

So the theory is, as all of our strikers are shit, lets take a shit winger with a shots to goal ratio of one in ten and make him a striker.

Still struggling Simo, I have seen Theo Walcott play up front, it was not pretty, it was the lino I felt sorry for the most, I think he must have got RSI through lifting his flag up every two minutes because wonder boy had sprinted offside (again).

Although I am with you when you say we have very limited options.

I just put it out there as another option (OJ doesn't think its a bad idea :D). Wenger has said he sees him as a striker eventually and I think he knows more about player potential than you :P

Wenger has lost it thats why Arsenal haven't won anything for years.

Oli thinks its a good idea?! Why didn't you say so, Theo Walcott for to play up front it is then lol

Aside from Agbonlahor, I wouldnt mind either of these guys up front for England. They cant do any worse than the players in the 2010 world cup.

I'd take Welbeck, Sturridge, Carroll, Holt OR Graham but not the others.

I think we've got a chance (I always say this but we beat spain and only just lost to Holland, i think we are slowly getting better)
