Fans who boo and give our players abuse

Recommended Posts

We have seen 2 incidences this week now where booing and abuse being shouted at players has caused disruption within the Club. Now I understand that yes if you pay £25 to watch Leicester play you have a right to shout what you want that is football I know, but those of you who choose to boo players than cheer them on before they have even kicked a ball on the day how would you feel if that was you? Would that spur you on to play better? Or would you feel more likely to be on edge, frustrated, annoyed and more likely to not have your head fully in the game?

Over the years successful football teams have always been built on confidence, belief in a players ability to win. Look at some of the greatest managers we have seen like Martin O' Neill and Brian Clough. These are managers who never relied on heavy tactics or heavy training schedules to get the best out of the players but got behind their players and made them believe the best in themselves to help them motivate and play with confidence. We have a good squad of Players here and we need to think how can we build that type of belief and atmosphere here again.

I think it's becoming obvious now the most of the players here are becoming frustrated and unsettled at the club and they are not enjoying their time here and would consider moving on. Now I am not having a go at the fans who are doing the booing you are within your right to but I just want to open your eyes to the possibility that if we cut this out and gave a bit of support back to the players again it could benefit us rather than make things worse?

I know this is Foxestalk and many with you will agree some will not I wouldn't even waste my time posting this on Bentleys Roof as I believe the optimistic fans are here and want to get behind the team, we have a half decent squad here and although some of you would like to see Pearson gone and I understand your reasons why but you have to admit the additions he has made to the squad with Marshall and Drinkwater have been excellent. So if maybe we can just give Pearson one more season of optimism and get behind the players we have and whoever he brings in we are will be a little more likely to achieve success than mid table disappointment again?

It's not the fans fault we are in this mess I know but while we may all disagree on who should be playing and who should be dropped we do all share one interest in common and that is we want to progress and obtain promotion next season, and if there is anything we can do to help the Club then we should do it so why not cut the slating and booing before a player comes on the pitch and hopefully if my theory is right he will play better.

We are all pissed off and frustrated but lets not make things worse for ourselves and believe and get behind our players again. What has happened to Gallagher and Konchesky this week should not of happened and I bet they are not the only players feeling the heat from the fans. So lets hope belief in this team can be restored so that next season maybe we can push forward into the top 6 and not find ourselves with a whole new set-up in a seasons time and take another 2 steps back to go another 1 steps forward.

So lets support our Players not make their jobs harder for them and maybe better things will happen on the pitch :scarf:

I like you, don't let your posts go downhill after such a well written first. FoxesTalk can slowly dismantle your ability to write coherent posts, like this.

i dont agree with booing a player on to the pitch, say he comes on as a sub.yet if they play like they dont care. you cant really blame people for expressing their opinions at the end. (not a 'Boo er' myself)

Good post.

Not a booer personally but can understand it and even more so if someone is working hard/extra hours to pay for their tickets and what they see is underperformance and a lack of effort.

Anyone booing a player coming onto the pitch is a tool though who shouldn't be in the stadium.

You are quite right but I bet the majority of those teams are not doing well either.

We arent the worst.

I was at a West Ham game the other week, they booed from start to finish and even sang "You fat bastard, we play on the floor" to Big Sam after they had won the game 2-0 at the end. lol

Definitely agree with you there the West Ham fans have been very fickle this season booing their team when they were in the top 2

Probably won't see me on here again after today my friends just felt this needed to be voiced as I can see this getting worse, just thought what would Martin O' Neill do if he was a fan lol

I'm not so bothered if people want to boo at the final whistle, as a general display of anger and frustration after so many poor showings. Singling players out I really don't like, it's only acceptable if as you've said they've evidently not put enough effort in.

There are too many fans who have a terrible attitude towards football matches. They go there with a negative mindset thinking about how poor we are as a team and letting it rule them instead of intending to have a good time and show a bit of patience.

That doesn't surprise me, they've thought they were too big for the Premiership all season and I hope they stay down.

Having said that I'm not too keen on Birmingham, Blackpool or Cardiff either.

If you want to boo, then do so to the radio in your own home. Some of us pay our money to support the lads, we can't blame any individual for how this season has panned out we have been inconsistant as a team all season. We can be frustrated, but to abuse players through social media sites or stand and boo like a retarded cow is cowardly. If you have a point either voice it on foxestalk in a civilised manner or ring BBC radio Leicester post match....

Football is a unique purchase where the customer (fan) has two choices go or not go, unlike most other purchases in life if you're unhappy you can find another supplier so when fans feel they are being short changed are left with few options in which to express their unhappiness they boo.

We live in an age where people are encouraged to demand the best, governments continually change the way it manages the country by proclaiming those changes are to provide something better, Businesses make the same proclamations.

On top of this fans have had to suffer extortionate increases in costs to attend matches whilst seeing average players, certainly no better than many that have gone before getting outrageous rewards the result is fans boo when they're not happy with what they are being served up.

We live in a culture where it is the norm to be rude, lack responsibility for ones actions, where being famous for being famous at the expense of those who've actually improved life for others is what many seem to aspire to.

Football and society in general has reaped what it has sown hence some fans now boo, I'm surprised people can't understand this.

Oh and let's not forget how sheep like many fans can be.

I think that has summed it up perfectly.

I've stayed away from last night's game and will probably stay away from West Ham next week simply because I'm so frustrated with how the season has panned out and I know a lot of fans in a similar position. The players were loving the attention they were getting in the summer, pre-season and before the season when the team were placed as favourites for the championship title. Now I'm not saying we were good enough for that by any stretch but what I am saying is the players knew the expectations from the clubs owners, manager, fans and they haven't performed well enough to finish in the top 6 and may even miss out on top 10.

That simply isn't good enough when you consider the amount of money that has been spent on the squad, the training facilities that they use, and finally their wages. You cannot blame the management because the same problems under Sven have been the same problems under Pearson. The players are inconsistent, ill-discplined (most penalties given away in the league, most red cards given) and the most worrying is when they aren't playing well they don't have the fighting spirit of other teams such as Reading and Birmingham to just get stuck in and think "you know what lets dig deep and get a result from this game".

The problem a lot of fans have with Gallagher is that when he's having a bad game he lets everybody in the stadium now about it, his head goes down, he has no desire to fight for the ball, he basically plays like shit. Compare that with somebody like Ben Marshall if he isn't on top form he still puts in his shift, tackles hard, fights for the ball, looks to make things happen and tries to change around his fortune. When Gallagher has played badly he puts his tail between his legs, hides out on the wing and when he gets subbed most likely thinks "**** it I'm still getting £10,000+ for this".

He leaves himself open for criticism for the simple fact that he doesn't try hard and have that work ethic when the chips are down and neither do a lot of our players, you can really tell the players in our team who were disappointed at how this season has fizzled out, the likes of Schmeichel, Drinkwater, Marshall, Peltier, Konchesky, Nugent, Beckford, Morgan and Bamba. The rest just don't seem to care and that is what gets fans back up when they contribute so much to the club by going home and away, purchasing shirts etc.
