Mack Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Old bastard here turning 40 this week. I want to take the whole family out for dinner, including my kids who are 7 and 9 years old. Apart from pizza hut can anyone advise me of a good family friendly restaurant in and around Leicester? I dont even mind a half hour drive, I just want somewhere that we wont feel frowned upon with the kids and the food is decent. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks
Guest Electric Yetis Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 More a pub with pub food but Mill on Soar is decent enough and kids are very welcome.
vandamman Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Zucherros World Buffet - Good price if you go before a certain time, also, lots and lots of choice so you wont have anyone complaining. Food is decent, although, not spectacular. For me you cant go far wrong with any of the Curry Houses down Melton Road. The Grand Durbar is good for groups.
Poakey Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 TGI Fridays in Cov is great but always busy, Pizza Express in St Martins (or the one down Newark which is better) or Home Made Burger company in Highcross is good.
Haydos Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Pizza Express is much nicer than Pizza Hut and not much different in price.
Vardinhio Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Get yourself to Chiquitos, normally pretty lively environment and pretty nice food.
Soar Fox Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 My girlfriends parents own a restaraunt in Mountsorrel called Slate. Nice food, reasonably priced and kids welcome.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Bella Italia is a bloody life saver for this sort of thing. There's one at the Meridian; rarely gets that busy, always easy to park, the food is pretty decent and it's all geared up to catering for families with kids in tow

Mack Posted 4 May 2012 Author Posted 4 May 2012 A half hour drive from where? Leicester believe it or not!!
Finnegan Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Leicester believe it or not!! It takes about half an hour to drive from one side of Leicester to the other!
The Doctor Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Leicester believe it or not!! Could you be slightly more specific?
Mack Posted 4 May 2012 Author Posted 4 May 2012 Could you be slightly more specific? **** it I'll sort it myself!
I am Rod Hull Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 Frankie and Benny's? Good shout. Used to take the kids to F&B quite often until they outgrew the kids menu . Great for kids though, they used to give them a colour pen thing and puzzle/colouring book (not sure if they still do this) to keep them amused. *You should book in advance and tell them its your birthday, they`ll let you take your own cake in and they`ll make a fuss of you, sing happy birthday and give the kids a balloon each.
Webbo Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 **** it I'll sort it myself! I don't know why you're getting arsey. For all any of us know you could live in Hinckley or Melton, Saffron Lane or Belgrave Road. It was an innocent enough question.
Dr The Singh Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 What he meant was he was going to relieve himself of his sexual anxiety!!
Finnegan Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 What he meant was he was going to relieve himself of his sexual anxiety!! When you're around to be compared to, Singhy, nobody can escape their sexual anxiety.
Mack Posted 4 May 2012 Author Posted 4 May 2012 It was only a simple question asking a bit of advice, I only wanted a rough idea not GPS co-ordiantes! Cheers anyway.
Finnegan Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 It was only a simple question asking a bit of advice, I only wanted a rough idea not GPS co-ordiantes! Cheers anyway. You got plenty of reasonable advice, to be fair. You should always anticipate a few stupid answers when you ask a question on FT.
The Doctor Posted 4 May 2012 Posted 4 May 2012 **** it I'll sort it myself! What's your problem? As Webbo said - we've no idea what area of Leicester you live in, and obviously the suggestions will change a bit if you're in, say, Loughborough than if you're in Hinckley.
